Variable Fighter Master File VF-25 Messiah
m0n5t3r replied to Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0's topic in Movies and TV Series
VF-25 Master File book is available again at HLJ. for those who missed out, like me... "discontinued" a couple of weeks ago and they told me they wouldn't be getting any soon ... saw the status upgraded to "backordered" a couple of days ago and now it's "in-stock". getting this and the VF-1 vol. 1 to complete the series (whose status changed to "low stock" when i punched in my order). -

Bandai DX Chogokin YF-29 Durandal Valkyrie
m0n5t3r replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
i'm tempted... the color scheme is growing on me... the red looks good when side-by-side with the VF-27. heard from local stores that re-stocks are set to arrive in 2 weeks time... hhhmmmmm. oh, btw, how's the mechanism for getting that crotch thrust look? does it lock or is the joint just tight enough to hold that position? -
looking at the GERWALK mode pic, i'm hoping it has that support thingy that the YF-29 has for the backpack.
-
i'll probably wait for the bundled packs to roll out... every single add-on pack for the v.1 was a Tamashii exclusive and I have a feeling it will be the same for the v.2... Bandai is the king of exclusives after all. but please, none of that baby blue 25F and Super Packs please... now those are for pussies

no super pack?... bad sign

Yamato 1/60 VF-17 Nightmare Diamond Force
m0n5t3r replied to charger69's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
yes, VFs are aircrafts first and foremost with a robot mode and a one-of-a-kind in between mode. i think the guy was thinking Gundam w/ waverider mode when he said "Landing gears are for pussies"... w/c are robots that are docked in their hangars as robots and not like VFs that are docked in their hangars as aircrafts. -

what he said... in the hangar bays every valk is definitely on its landing gears, even if the angle of the shot doesn't show them. -

i just noticed that the gunpod can clip on the forearm... nice... another thing they got from Yamato ... at least they're learning i see the pics now. are the silver parts just painted plastic or metal? i'm assuming they're still using those rolled metal sheets as pins for these hinges, yes? i hope this is just an isolated case... -

look on the bright side, at least it's not a web exclusive. -
Bandai DX Chogokin YF-29 Durandal Valkyrie
m0n5t3r replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
but aren't those dolls (j/k ) as expensive, if not more? this is the reason why i've quit collecting other anime/toy lines... Macross alone is bleeding my wallet dry... @charger - that's a truly beautiful pic. seeing that makes it hard to argue which one is better. -
yeah, those too, but i can consider them nitpicks and not part of "my only real complaints"... like i said, it's a good thing that we're seeing on the DX YF-29 that all the problems the v.1 VF-25 has, whether it be a nitpick for some or a major turn-off for others, are already being addressed... in the end, everybody'll be happy (as long as you can afford it! )

Bandai DX Chogokin YF-29 Durandal Valkyrie
m0n5t3r replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
can't wait for people to chime in on whether which one is the better toy - the 1/60 VF-19 Kai or the 1/60 YF-29. i have to admit that this looks very good esp. since it has a lot of improvements and new gimmicks compared to its predecessors. a funny thing though... Yamato seems to have copied Bandai's love for metal ball joints and Bandai's offering has removable intake covers while the Yamato doesn't. i haven't watched the 2nd movie yet but it got me wondering... now that we have a YF-29, will there be a VF-29 series of VFs and a new VF that'll look like the YF-21/VF-22 in the future... -
this and the landing gears are my only real complaints when it comes to fighter mode... otherwise they're pretty solid whenever I want to zoom them around the house. but i desperately want a VF-25 i can play/display in GERWALK and battroid that won't make me want to throw them off a wall. how the paint and the joints on the YF-29 will be are still unknown but i am liking the articulated hands, removable intake covers, convertible to 2-seater cockpit, improved neck and the new crotch lock/positioning... i would assume these will all be incorporated on the v.2 VF-25 along with the removable and better sculpted pilot figure, double-jointed elbows, locking shoulders and the better GERWALK knee articulation that started with the VF-27. i also fear that Luca's RVF-25 might become an exclusive along with the Super Packs.

somebody might want to watch outside Graham's home... he might decide to have his v.1 DX VF-25s in "trash bin mode"
-
kinda felt this would come out sooner rather that later... transformed my VF-25F last night back to fighter and i'm planning to keep my 2 v.1 DXs in this mode forever... while fighter mode does have its own issues, it is the most solid between the 2 modes of the v.1 DX VF-25. I'm gonna have to lift my Bandai boycott coz of my love for the VF-25 design... now i can finally complete my SMS skull squadron even of i have to re-buy the F and the S. good thing i cut my losses when i did, i was sooo tempted to get that Tornado VF-25G a few months ago in Tokyo... but still, F U Bandai!

What's wrong with my Yamato, Bandai, etc.
m0n5t3r replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
sorry to hear about your YF-19... kinda like what happened to this YF-19 the plastic on the YF-19 is definitely iffy, but i think what eventually made it crack might be an over-tightened screw... afaik, there were 2 guys who had that happen back then... i checked my YF-19 when i read their posts and saw that mine was showing a white line, exactly where theirs cracked ,where the plastic was clearly stressed... i loosened the screw that connects the two halves of the neck part and the white stress line disappeared. i didn't bother tightening that screw at all after that. on yours, the (hidden) screw that keeps the 2 halves of the lerx part together might have been over-tightened. after seeing your post i promptly disassembled that part from the hip and loosened those screws. guess you'll just have to display your YF-19 in battroid so that crack isn't visible... -
spent the whole show waiting for stuff to be said or to happen that didn't... kinda wishing the"magical" part would've played out the way it did in my head when I read it ... and that actress playing Mirri Maz Duur was really crappy at saying her lines. ...back to the books now...

yeah, but it seems to me that non-transformable small scale Macross VFs are just doomed to fail, doesn't matter who makes them. even some of the limited edition ones, after initial release, i've seen selling for cheap... and i think the toy companies have noticed this the past couple of years and it makes me sad coz i might never own the RD Armored VF-25S or any other VF (that I can't afford to buy/have in 1/60 scale) in action figure form.
