That was my big toy haul for 08... Not too many figures but I prefer quality over quantity! I am so happy I was able to get my hands on bandai's latest valkyrie... It is truly my most prized possesion toy wise! Ill post pictures later but I don't have the time now.

  2. After going back to transform my YF-21 back from battloid to fighter mode I ran into some hiccups along the way as I totally forgot how to transform the thing since I first had it... The good thing is that the toy is designed in such a way that its very hard for ne pieces to break as it is made of sturdy ABS plastic... Not only that but all the integral parts of the YF-21's transformation is made in such a way that the pieces will give in or collapse if too much pressure is applied to them. Thankfully most of these pieces are also snap fit so if you mess up you can attach them to the pegs again.

This toy is a marvel of toy engineering IMO... It is very high quality and designed so well... props to yamato on this one as it is almost break proof! B))

  3. I hate the FRX-00 look on the DX toy -- I hope the upturned wings is something that depends on how one transforms it.

I don't get what your talking about bu ne way, I like the fact that you can use the cheap bandai display stands for the dx valk... While the proportions on the DX chogokin aren't perfect I think its good enough as is... Maybe bandai could have made the toy more CAD accurate but that might take away alot of the toys durability factor... Like I said before this toy is much more sturdy than ne yamato valk I've ever owned even the 1/48 pales in comparison.

  4. Ok for the scale

The plane mode is 31.5CM long, so it is about 1/59.5 scale

Battroid mode 23.5-25.5cm, abut 1/60 scale

I think the VF-25 should be larger than what SK have stated, given the size of the cockpit is small vs other same scale plane

You see the pic here in battloid mode? How the heck do you get the shoulder pieces to sit flush against the chest plate? I pretty much transformed the dam thing but the shoulder pieces wont budge! There also seems to be stop gaps to keep the joint from sitting flush... I'm beginning to think this is just part of the design...

  5. Well i'm probably one of the first ppl in america to have one of the DX valks on hand atm... It just come in the mail today so I haven't had time to look through it now and transform it but the toy looks really sturdy and had alot of metal on it... I appears to be of really high quality toy wise... I'm pretty sure its more durable than ne yamato valk to date... The packaging is just awesome too! Its real colorful and has that nice embossed silver macross frontier patch of authenticity. The box just begs you to open it and dig in! Ill post some pics later

  6. I've been hearing alot of complaints about Ozmas vf-25s... But every picture I've seen of it doesn't look good at all... the main thing that kills it is the neck length or lack thereof in poseability it seems. Why did bandai decide to go with this design? It seems like the chest is always covering the neck joint giving it a turtle in shell look... its an eyesore really that I cant ignore and I don't think ill buy it unless it comes with the armor parts or bandai does a new headsculpt all together' Also the shape of the head seems smushed in every photo I see... Is it really that bad? I sure hope its not as bad as it looks...

  7. Well I don't think yamato will be in serious trouble unless the whole economy of japan or asia in general collapses which is a big possibility nowadays... All the factories that produce yamato products are in china and china is having massive economic turmoil and civil unrest... Most ppl aren't told whats going on there atm from the media because it is government censored and they don't want ppl to be fearful of the economy... But yeah I'd say yamato will be ok as long as the economy is in its current form...

  8. I've been giving some thought as to why there are always recon valks like the RVF-25 or VE-1 ELINT seeker... Youd think that by then there would be no need for a recon vessel since the targeting systems on the vf-1 and vf-25 models is so much more advanced... Also since very little heat signatures are emitted in cold space how would a valks missle system seek out enemy targets? is that the prupose of the recon vessels?

Another thing... the way the vf-25 makes sharp and fast turns in outer space where there is a vacuum and no air resistance seems inconceivable atm since no such technology exists to move a craft in space that fast and suddenly... I'm assuming that the vf-25 somehow manipulates a small gravitational field around the vehicle to push it in different directions if needed. If ne one has a better expanation id like to hear it.

  9. One thing that's starting to annoy me is the hand that holds the gunpod on the DX doesn't do a very good job. Not only does it allow the gunpod to sag, it doesn't hold the gunpod very tightly and I've had a few instances where the gunpod has fallen out of the hand when I've just gently nudged it, or even when just picking up the battroid and not even touching the gunpod......Grrrrrrr! This is not supposed to happen with fixed pose hands.

    Graham

With all due respect graham this is really nothing new if you look at all the other products bandai has made... Alot of the gundam MG kits and GFF figures have the same exact problem. The hands never seem to hold any rifles or big guns correctly and the guns tend to sag off of the hands on most bandai products... You might have to bend the hands a bit to make it hold the rifle more snugly. But I understand what you're saying... You'd think by now they would have that problem fixed but it seems to be inherent in other bandai products as well...

  10. I admit, I looked on ebay as well. For me, the rush to get one of these in my hands isn't about my inner child's impatience so much as it is about getting the Macross hobby bug somewhat out of my system before grown up life consumes all my time.

edit: If there is some way to get one of these faster than mid-January, then I'd like the option -- will cover the expense(s). Maybe one of our members who can go to a local retailer and pick one of these up can help me.

Well the only online store in the U.S that has the DX chogokin's in stock atm is imageanime.com. Its located in the east coast in NYC... Although at the 180 dollar price point before shipping its kinda expensive but at least you'll get the toy around a week earlier... If you have the funds id say go for it! Shipping should add up to 15 or 20 USD depending on your location... I admit I caved and ordered one from them and expect it by the end of the week. I can't wait to have it in my hands!

  11. LOL! I almost spilled my cup of tea when I read that!

But seriously, the way the head lasers bend symbolizes my 'bended' desire to own this toy too....

    I dont sound serious do I? ^_^

LMAO yeah that was a very funny comment... But cmon seriously! Bendy ears? I don't know about you guys but I always took care of my yamato valks with the hard plastic ears and they never broke off unless you willingly manhandled the toy lol... and at the 120 dollar price point I don't think many little kids are gonna get this either...

  12. And here it is my custom Gundam :

Ah looks like you took a buncha HCM pro or MSIA spare parts and put them together... looks a little messy the the design is ok... LOL seems like I'm the only one here excited about gundam figs atm... Right now they're a cheap alternative to macross figs and they're small and take up very little shelf space.

  13. I don't know about the rest of you guys but the only problem I ever had was the RROD issue... I got tired of sending systems to M$ so I bought the halo 3 xbox360 pro and its been running fine for a good two years now. The disc scratching issue is serious but I don't know ne one who had that problem with the 360... It is an important issue that microsoft should have prevented instead of replacing system after system for ppl which is costing them even more money than fixing the problem before hand... Oh well

  14. Yeah poseability is good and the joints are very tight. I am just frustrated about all those decals I painstakingly applied getting destroyed after transforming it. I think I will only use the stickers on my VF-25F and see how they hold up.

While the far better proportions compared to the DX are sweet, the time needed to make them look good is just way too much and then you can never ever transform them or you will get depressed.

In essence I will just keep my models in Battroid and get the toys for everything else. That way I don't have to look at the attrocious dwarfism of the DX.

  15. After just having finished my VF-25S after 5 days of continuous work (which got partly ruined after the first transformation) I can safely say that I will be getting those toys. The lack of durability and stability on the model coupled with unwillingness to see all those hard painstaking hours spent getting everything right go to waste with every second of handling keeps me from actually playing with it.

Guess I will get Alto, Ozma, and Michael in 1/60 and maybe Luca in 1/100.

Well that can't be good... That kit is one of bandai's more expensive models and it still has problems it seems after handling it... Even the lower end gundam kits have a good degree of poseability.

I think its pretty clear that bandai doesn't have the expertise that yamato has... At least they're using more durable materials for the dx chogokin line to avoid breakage and pissed off customers.

  16. But it's recession-proof and I now have a GF that will always have my back!

Sorry to get your hopes up but I don't think there is any job that's truly recession proof unless your working for the government or military. Also, women are a fickle lot... If you don't have enough money in the bank account or are down on your luck they want nothing to do with you... If your previous GF left you what makes you think the one you have is ne different. Its true love is blind.

  17. You know what I do with threads now-a-days? I click on the newest page, scroll scroll scroll scroll....no new pics? Exit. Too much bitching and back and forth jabs by too many collectors lately, and I am finding it rather sad.

LOL toy collectors are an insecure lot... They always feel the need to argue or try to front an arrogant attitude to make up for their real life insecurity... You know the fact that IRL they are not much different from the "40 year old virgin"...

  18. So true so true.

Never forget: Everyone on Macrossworld is an expert about everything they talk about. Having not seen the anime, move or not having played with, owned or even seen the toy/model/action figure in real life makes no difference. They are also impeccable financial experts, and experts about development and production time and production material cost and use. Also, keep this in mind: Every new movie sucks, every new anime is exactly the same as an old anime, and every toy from Yamato sucks and will break within seconds of removing it from the box despite several people who've owned them and never had problems. And finally, Gundam either sucks or is the best mecha anime ever. There is no middle ground.

    Vostok 7

Well you pretty much just summed up everyone that's on these boards lol. I always have to measure my words and at least act like I know what Im talking about because there's always some jackass trying to argue or be a troll... The gamefaqs message boards are no different. Everybody has opinions but you know what they say... they're like ass holes and everybody has em.
