  1. Wow I didn't expect so much backlash of complaints over the recent VF25G... These problems seem to be with the minority for now... Hopefully I won't run into the same problems when mine comes in.

I can understand why ppl would be upset at bandai over this oversight with the loose fitting armor parts but yamato's QC related issues were much worse from what I can recall...

The macross zero lineup had its fair share of worse problems than this with the infamous shoulder breakage and loose fitting parts. The first batch of the recent v2 1/60s had the arm breakage problem but ppl didn't seem as upset over it. Maybe yamato has a reputation of having alot of QC issues with their products and that's why no one is surprised when something does break.

Still I feel sorry for all of you who are having trouble with the toy atm... A company like bandai is known for their reliability on a product the first time so I can see why ppl are disappointed. Still overall im impressed at how durable the first releases were of the vf-25 despite the minor flaws. Hopefully bandai can learn from their mistakes and make a decent product the first time for everyone.

  2. All I can say is WOW this looks quite expensive... Hopefully it doesn't reach the 500 dollar mark otherwise I ain't buying it. It looks to be made out of mostly plastic... I can't see yamato putting metal on this figure because that would make this toy waay too expensive for most ppl. If it ever does come out hopefully it has no QC issues.

  3. WOW that 1/35 RX-78-2 is impressive it has both size and detail! That thing will cost a fortune I bet. It seems as though the robot damashii line is focusing on 00 atm which is fine...

IMO the new gundam designs are getting kinda crazy atm... Most of the mecha from 00 look nothing like a traditional gundam mecha. Nothing really new to the table IMO unless your into gundam 00 which I really don't care for atm.

Im curious to see what figures come out of the upcoming U.C. side story game... those look interesting.

  4. Well it looks like the VF-25G is finally available on hljs website... I got my card charged ahead of schedule as I was expecting to be charged by at least the 30th or 1st of march... I'm a little upset that hlj just charged my card outta nowhere though... I usually preorder through paypal and wait till they send me an quote so I can send the money on my own time.

This time I didn't use paypal and I was charged without prior notice... Oh well at least I got a nice valk coming in.

  5. logos by now I'm sure you've already made your purchase. Personally I think its one of the better products out of yamato lately it looks great and is designed flawlessly. Its a little difficult to transform and kinda annoying to fit parts in right place exactly how the manual wants it. Nonetheless although expensive its a flawless product that I dont think you should pass up if your into yamato valks.

  6. Shouldn't this go in the Transformers thread, rather than the "YF-21 FAST packs" thread?

PS--thanks for the video, I should be getting my YF-21 next week.

LMAO yeah seriously the previous poster was quite right about the autobots being slaves and destrons being the warriors to defend the quintesons but this is going way off topic.

  7. As far as the economy goes I am spending less overall on things I don't really need. I'm not done collecting entirely yet as there are still things here and there I pick up. I've never been a hardcore toy collector that has to have everything and if I ever feel I have too much I start selling off things that take up too much space.

If my savings allow I would like to be able to purchase at least a set of armor parts for the dx-25 valk. Other than that there's not much else id like to buy toy wise. It depends on how bad the economy gets in the next few months... If prices on necessities skyrocket I will definitely cut back on things I don't need but as long as the economy is somewhat stable I may always buy one thing here or there.

  8. I currently have the 360 version of SFIV and when I first started playing with the standard D-pad, I had some trouble pulling off a lot of moves. As I played it became a lot easier after I got used to the timing and direction of the pad. One drawback though is that the standard D-pad isn't very finger friendly and can cause a little irritation and blistering of the thumb with extended use. You will develop a callous if you play enough so it isn't a huge issue but if you want to save your thumb some pain id suggest getting the fightpad.

Unless your a real hardcore player that wants the authentic controls of the arcade stick id recommend you either stick to the fightpad or the standard d pad as the moves aren't that hard to pull off with a little training and some patience.

  9. I do admit while I always liked the alpha series I often found it too difficult to play. Because of that fact I choose to stay away from the franchise until it went back to its roots to a more basic fighting system. I was never a frequent arcade rat and I didn't really have ne one to play against so the alpha series really wasn't worth my time IMO.

While some ppl on these forums are expressing some disappointment with this latest installment gameplay wise. I think its the smartest decision capcom ever made. Those of us who used to play SF2 back in the day still remember all those original characters from that game and to bring them back helps carry the game sales wise a long way.

Also the gameplay desperately needed to be resimplified because the generation that grew up with the alpha series doesn't really play these fighting games nowadays and most of them moved on to bigger and better things.

Most of the ppl playing this new installment won't be the old hardcore crowd that spent countless hours and tokens duking it out in the arcades and honing their skills in countering and multi combo/super move skills.

The series started to wane in popularity IMO after Alpha 3 with the whole drastic change up in the block and combo system and the fact that the market was already flooded with too many fighting games to begin with. Street Fighter 3rd Strike came as a quiet whimper in the arcades and snuck its way onto PS2 about 3 years later but by then street fighter lost most of its popularity and no one really cared about the franchise ne more up to that point...

I think of this new game as a kind of reset to bring in new fans to the series and breath new life into it... Its the smartest choice business wise. As of right now there really aren't ne good hardcore 2d fighting games to compete with it atm. Possibly in the future a SF game that plays more like the alpha series may be released to a new generation of fans that will hopefully embrace a more complicated hardcore fighting system but for now I am happy with what we have, which is a great fighting game that can be enjoyed by novice or pros alike. Since I haven't played a new street fighter game in a long time it feels refreshing to be able to learn the basic move sets again and experiment with different combination's and so forth.

IMO although kinda simple compared to the alpha series the game is still very fun and accessible to play and that's what I think capcom needed to make this franchise profitable and popular again.

  10. I dunno why but I cant seem to watch ne of the newer series out there... Gundam 00 just doesn't appeal to me... Seems like the same depressing story of a society without hope trying to stop wars and get along all over again...

I actually never saw gundam wing but ppl were always saying it was a good and fun series to watch... I think it appeals to me because the story line is neither too emotional or deep. Its just fun to watch all the adventure and espionage that goes on in the series without the melodrama which I think makes wing standout from the others.

  11. WTF is going on here?! There has to be some kind of conspiracy going on here for US based toy retailers to stop selling japanese macross figures or products altogether...

www.imageanime.com has recently stopped selling any japanese macross products or figures all of a sudden with no explanation given... What once was a list of japanese macross goods is now only a $hitty lineup of toynami robotech products sponsored by harmony gold...

Its funny that this happens all of a sudden when macross frontier comes out and appears to be making alot of money with the merchandise and all. HG never took any serious action of this kind before frontier came out... I guess they thought the older macross saga wasn't a big money maker anyway so they let US retailers do as they please...

This has to stop IMO if its true that legal pressure from HG is causing this problem something has to be done... There aren't many US toy retailers that sell macross goods in the first place and instead of these companies standing up for themselves they appear to be giving in to HG's demands....

I recently heard about threats of legal action from HG against bbts.com for selling the bandai macross frontier valks and although joel the owner of that website denies any claims that they have given into the threats and stopped selling japanese macross figures altogether. Recent activity of the website shows that they still haven't gotten any of the macross frontier preorder items that were by promised to be available by now... Not only that but it appears that bbts is also no longer getting any new shipments of macross yamato products as well...

I'm surprised nothing was said about this earlier... It seems like HG is desperate to get some income flowing with the way the global economy is and all, this bullying has to stop!

  12. Hang on, a remake of 0083??? I didn't read that properly the first time. Why remake that? I enjoy the original as is, no need to stuff around with it. Ok then, I take back my original statement, some Gundam series are not always welcome. They should remake the first series.

    Taksraven

I agree that the original series of gundam should be remade with more modern art... I still have yet to watch the entire 0079 series because the animation is so bad and hard to take in, even for its own time the animation was considered sloppy and low budget because gundam wasn't a big success when it first aired in japan. In the meantime for ppl who don't feel like trudging though all 45 episodes of 0079, the movie trilogy is a good alternative with slightly upgraded animation and added scenes its a good substitute.

  13. Hey guys. Need som ID help. What the flub is this:

    2vllmo6.jpg

And just to be clear - I'm not asking about the particular Gundam - but rather about the age of the model. Is this an old Bandai model? The box art looks ugly and it looks like something from the early 1990s or something. Is this from the much older HG line?

Anybody ever come across these things - packaged like that?

    Pete

Oh this... this was actually one of the first gunpla kits I ever built... Its a 1:100 scale HG kit of gundam epyon from gundam wing... Its a good kit and easy to detail and build. At the time I didn't have much modeling paints or materials but managed to make the kit look good with some panel lining and hand painting all the black areas. This kit is a domestic kit from 1998 I believe.

  14. Please if your selling something on ebay or making any transaction do not sell to this douchebag... rano00. This guy is some smartass kid that kept saying he was gonna pay for an item I posted on ebay and kept procastinating to send payment in later... This guy was obviously trying to cause trouble because I gave the kid one last chance to pay for the item by today and he decided not to pay for the item when he specifically told me he was gonna pay for it on the 23rd...

Message from eBay Member Regarding Item #110339505452

    Dear rano00,

Please send payment as soon as possible... When I receive payment the item will be shipped to you that same day... thanks!

    Reply from Rano zulfikar...

    Dear rano00,

Hey are you gonna make the payment or not? make up your mind now so I can hurry up and relist the item...

    Reply from Rano zulfikar...

i'll pay on friday(01/23/09). sorry it took me a while to pay.

    Dear rano00...

Well its already your promised pay date... last chance... I'll put an unpaid item strike against your account if I have to relist the item by tomorrow... sorry but you keep procrastinating... if you didn't have the money I don't know why you bid on it in the first place...

    Reply from Rano zulfikar...

    ok then

This is the exact conversation I had today after this ahole said he was gonna pay me today... I wouldn't be so mad if it didn't cost money to relist the item on ebay but he committed to buy the item and now decides not to pay me... I now have to be three times as strict with who I let purchase ne items on ebay... Its really sad that ppl have to stoop this low and waste both my time and money... if you don't have the money why the hell do ppl bid on things then?!

  15. Do you mean the mechanism for locking the groin peice in place in battroid mode, i.e. the tab which folds down and plugs into a hole?

If yes, I've found that they are fairly unsecure on both my Ozma and Alto and often come unlocked during handling. I would really have liked Bandai to come up with a more secure locking mechanism.

Just like on Yamato's YF-19 in battroid mode, you have to learn how and how not to hold the toy correctly when handling (playing with) it.

    Graham

Yeah I've had the same problem with my alto graham... Every time I try to pose the toy I have to make sure I hold down the hip joint so the hip joint lock doesn't snap off... It happens far too much IMO and I hate when that happens because Im afraid of the locking tab wearing down after awhile if it keeps up... I don't pose it that much ne way but it is something that needs to be addressed... Perhaps a later version will come out with improvements but not ne time soon I think...

  16. I'm waiting on my HG RX-78-2 ...

Now I'm really in a pickle. I am thinking of building the Zaku, the Gouf and the Z'Gok to get a nice Principality of Zeon force going :) All MG...

In terms of Freedom and Destiny and the like - I generally am not a big fan of the "look at all my sharp wings and cannons and swords" type Mecha - although I do have a soft spot for Crossbone Full Cloth; but that's mainly because I like the pirate motif.

Well - either way -I'm gonna build something as soon as I finish cleaning my room :)

    Pete

For the longest time I didn't have ne model kit of the original RX-78-2 gundam. So I decided on getting the ver ka MG kit... Some ppl don't like that version because its not true to the anime and has a more modern look but I like the realistic look of the kit.... There are so many versions of the RX-78 that you're bound to find one you'll like...

I'm not a big fan of the original gundam design but I just had to have one because your collection just isn't complete without the original...

Its like have every other valkyrie in you collection but not having ne of the VF-1 valks from the original macross.

  17. It seems as though a lot of ppl on this board aren't used to bandai products... Although alot of products are labeled perfect transformation or "perfect grade" there are always little attachment's and interchangeable parts that come with almost all bandai products...

Bandai's main goal is to make they're products as affordable as possible... They're basically trying to balance looks and accuracy with economics... In the end the economics usually wins out over "perfection" if that means it'll cost much more to make a product that is truly considered perfect.

Yamato only caters to adult collectors and their market usually serves ppl with more disposable income... So ppl get perfect figures but at a not so perfect cost... The YF-21 for example is an excellent toy and is perfect in nearly every way but the thing is 220 U.S dollars.... That's alot more than most bandai products even some perfect grade kits don't cost that much...
