  1. post-8267-1240991935_thumb.jpg

Hmm... After looking at that heat shield the way it sits over the cockpit it doesn't look very appealing ne more... The fact that the heat shield does not appear to lock in place is a major deal breaker for me. I really do hope this is an isolated case or that there has been a last minute fix in the production... That heat shield is an eyesore, especially for a 200 dollar toy...

  2. I just got my RVF-25 DX in today and its the most sturdy built valk I have ever owned... It seems like the newer molds are getting better every month.

My VF-25G has loose fitting and floppy armor parts while the RVF I have seems more well built and is able to hold the armor pieces in place even with some movement. The joint's on my RVF-25 are also a lot tighter than ne of the other dx valks I have.

So far I haven't had a problem with the locking peg disengaging when transforming the toy... Everything fits pretty snug.

  3. To tell you the truth I have been having some dryness and itching all over my body lately but no one else in my family is experiencing the same symptoms... I think its most likely due to seasonal allergies...

I am very allergic to pollen and certain dust particles from plants that blossom during the spring and summer seasons. Over the years my allergies have gotten better but I still get irritated from time to time. Dry itchy skin isn't all that uncommon, most ppl can deal with it as long as they have some allergy meds.

  4. I think a new ZOE would be a great idea and a real treat to all the otaku mecha fanboys out there. Both games were great but I would prefer if they made a sequel. It should have some vague tie ins with the gradius universe as well like ZOE 2 did.

It would be great if you can explore other planets and expand the world of ZOE to other galaxies all together, that would make a truly epic game in the mecha genre.

  5. Your condition is most likely related to a dust concern or allergy to a certain chemical in the air... I suggest you vacuum and wipe down whatever area you feel itchy around. It would be a good idea to clean your surroundings at least once a week to see if things will improve. Goodluck.

  6. I don't necessarily hate the 1/48's I still admire them for their sheer size and robust appearance. They stand out in my collection and that's what ppl notice first when they see it they always point out the giant 1/48 in my room.

While the smaller 1/60 doesn't really draw much attention due to its modest size. Still I prefer the 1/60 v2 mainly for their lineart accuracy and increased mobility. It is very hard for me to make the 1/48 hold its gunpod with both arms as their isn't enough movement with the arms.

Still although the price of 1/48 has gone down considerably from now on im gonna invest in v2's for the most part because im getting a better figure overall for almost the same price as a 1/48.

  7. These collectibles appeal to a niche audience at best. Its not like transformers that sells tons of units worldwide at a very cheap price... Which are also made of the same made of the same materials as a standard yamato valk most of the time.

The price of these figures will likely stay very high because there aren't a whole lot of macross fans out there worldwide that would buy these pieces even at a lower price... So to compensate for the lack of demand a small amount is produced and sold at a premium so that the company makes some kind of profit for all their hard work getting it on store shelves.

It also takes a large amount of money to run a business these days so if the fans want yamato to continue to make new products they'll be willing to fork over the extra cash if need be.

Novaflo you also said that the 1/48 valks are now cheaper than they used to be but isn't that the case for all older products? The 1/48's are fading out of production now that the new 1/60 v.2s are out... Yamato is not going to continue to make an outdated product that no longer has much of a customer base anymore.

Would you pay the price of a brand new PS3 for a PS2? I know I wouldn't and as far as I'm concerned the 1/60 VF-1 line is superior to the 1/48 version in nearly every way and is worth the money IMO.

  8. Frankly I don't think I've seen enough anime to make a definite choice for what I think is the best anime of all time... It just depends on what you like really...

Alot of ppl I know say that evangelion is supposedly the greatest story of all time... It was a break through for anime which featured alot of religious overtones and philosophies about the origin of life and where it came from and where humanity is going but it isn't the best action series of all time for sure...

I'm a big U.C gundam nut so for mecha action and fight scenes I'd say gundam 08th MS is my personal favorite.

The next obvious choice is most of the macross series (excluding macross 7).

For apocalyptic action I'd say fist of the north star.

Comedy? well I haven't seen too many satire anime's... But I really liked GTO and found it pretty funny although it did have its weird moments.

  9. Well if your wife really is that irritated over your collection the best thing to do would be to sell anything that you or her feels will take up too much space...

This should also give you some extra money that you can use for an emergency or things you really need atm... All I can say is that once you become a father your life should be devoted not only to your wife but to your kids also... Keeping a healthy family relationship is more important than anything these days because there is so little love in this world and that is one of the few outlets you have.

If you want to keep a few things for a small collection I see nothing wrong with that but if you feel you have a little too much excess it wouldn't hurt to sell a few things IMO... NE way goodluck with your baby and all...

  10. Hey un, I paid the same 3100 for the vf-25g it's high but still cheaper than hlj. That's the only thing that sux about orderi g from japan is the rediculous shipping costs :(

Hey man at least you don't live all the way in the U.S East coast region... I paid 40 USD for EMS shipping for my VF-25G... Although I get the toy alot sooner I'd rahter pay half the amount for SAL even if I have to wait over two weeks... I wish HLJ offered cheaper shipping on these items.

  11. I don't find the transformation fiddly at all. In fact I find it very quick and intuitive. Not as simple as a VF-1, but certainly far easier and less fiddly than say the YF-21 or SV-51.

Mind you, I had previous experience transforming the VF-25 model kits, before I got the DX, so was already familiar with the basic transformation and found that I didn't need to take more than a cursory glance at the DX instruction sheet before transforming the toys.

    Graham

I dunno about that... I still find the VF-1 to be slightly more finicky and difficult to deal with and I hate moving that thin metal swingbar around... I always feel like I'm gonna break it if I apply too much force. The dx really doesn't have many breaking points that are essential to transformation and flipping out the torso is so much easier IMO.

  12. Nice collection there graham. I'd really like to find those cms macross figurines really cheap but they cost way more than what their worth IMO. I have to admit gerwalk mode doesn't look very impressive with the current dx line. On the model kit it looks nice because movement is a lot better and proportions are lineart accurate. These are best displayed as a battroid or fighter.

  13. Interesting. I never though DBZ would get a remake. I guess getting rid of over a third of the series will make it less annoying to watch. The damn fights took way too long to progress.

Where does this new OVA fit in between DBZ and GT?

LMAO for every episode that had ne progress or substance there were always 12 episodes of worthless dialogue and bragging... I think dbz could make a good 60 episodes without all the useless stalemate talking episodes that is so prevalent in the current dbz series.

  14. OMG WOW!... Haha I've been a long time customer of HLJ for many years but I never expected HQ to look as nice and as pristine as it does. Even the warehouse looks spotless and isn't what I usually think of when someone mentions a warehouse.

This guy must be making big bucks to have such a nice facility especially in japan. All those expensive toys in that warehouse make me dizzy. I'm not used to seeing all those yamato valks and SOCS lying around along with all the gunpla and everything else.

Only thing I hate is the high shipping cost to the USA especially if its an EMS shipment. Still if you're looking for the latest releases from japan this site always has it before ne one else.

Seems like it took a lot of work for Mr.Hards to get to where he is now. But with the falling economy nowadays otaku hobbies aren't the best business. Still I wish him the best and many thanks for years of awesome customer service.

  15. Do we have 2 different shades of blue on the VF-25G too ??

seems like my dealer has this issue on its stocks ....

I dunno about the rest of you but the color variation on my VF-25G is very minimal and is hardly noticeable even in a brightly lit room... Pics from a high res camera make the colors seems very different but when you actually hold the toy in person it is barely noticeable... At least that's my perspective.

  16. Hmm... Not necessarily true. VF-1D was released on Feb 21, VF-1S SSP (Hikaru) Dec 20 and VF-1J SP Nov 18. Tomahwak was on first of Oct.

Maybe current release date trends are changing and happening sooner due to the turbulent world economy and wary reactions being done by companies to try and profit off of their products as soon as possible, just in case the economy takes a huge hit sometime down the line. This trend is also happening within the video game industry as many next gen titles are being rushed onto store shelves sooner than their expected release date because of fears of a looming economic depression.

Most of those releases you mentioned are simple repaints of the same mold too. Its not that difficult for a company to repaint a product of the same mold so I can understand why they might come out sooner...

  17. So it's finally April.

    ETA?

With release dates as far as japanese products go most of the time they are released on the very last day of the month. So if the VF-11B release date is on april expect to see it actually on most store shelves and online shops by the end of that given month. By the 29,30, or 31st of the month.

  18. For 250$ including shipping, these figures are not worth the hefty price, when you have a vastly superior product of the same type of Valkyrie for only a quarter of the price - the model kits.

Hell, even Luca comes with ghosts, the DX does not.

Whoa where are you shopping at? I've never paid more than 210 for ne of the bandai valks so far. 250 with shipping is pretty steep...

  19. Uh. What?

On my own Michel, the only armor part that's remotely loose is the hip covers, everything else locks great if you get it locked in properly. The chest piece, yes, will flop around, but only if you don't actually put it all the way on. The side covers will be a little knock-able-off-able, but only if you don't get them pressed in hard enough. The boosters are rock solid if you get them pressed down properly over the wing root and get the alignment pin into position on the forward spike.

Then again, maybe I just happen to have one with magically better QC than everyone else :p. Another MW staple!

Well what I meant to say was that yamato's QC as of late is good. I'm not saying they're perfect by any mean but yamato's latest releases have and are still currently alot better than what bandai has churned out recently.

  20. My VF-25G came in today and yeah ppl were saying about the armor parts is true. Almost every piece is floppy and loose and falls off very easily sometimes... Its not a huge deal for me because I only pose my figures once in a while but overall I like the look of the toy. Most of us are used to the top quality QC that yamato offers with their macross line.

I'm sure bandai coulda done better but it appears that the team working on and designing these products are novices or are new to figure development altogether although I could be wrong. This definitely isn't something you can manhandle unless you want the armor parts to fly all over your house... NE way I hope the alto and ozma armor parts are more sturdy than this...

  21. The Pyscho Gundam transforms from a mecha... into a flying refridgerator. It's true! ;)

Not the best of comparisons IMO.

Anyway, the recent Figure King articles have stated that Kawamori was highly involved in the design of the DX version, not just the Bandai Chogokin group, and he himself admitted there were limitations to making a playable and durable toy. I still don't see why there's still so much vehemence towards Bandai in the light of that article...

LMAO you are quite right but I still like the psycho gundam regardless I just keep it in MS mode because it looks so much better and ppl can actually tell what the heck it is.

NE way I wouldn't say bandai doesn't care because alot of time, money and effort went into creating not only the series but all the new macross merchandise that has come out so far. They wouldn't put so much time and effort buying the license for the series if they didn't care about it or think it wouldn't be profitable. There are literally tons of mecha series that were released in the 80's that most ppl have either forgotten or don't think twice about nowadays.
