i agree, she was probably sick and grace just took that chance to make it worse. or then again, grace might have been slipping in small doses of the poison in her drinks already, and gave her the heavy doses as meds later on. yeah, probably the stomach.....gasp. oh my, maybe she's actually already taking potshots at ranka. "hey if you wear a one-piece, that glowing thing in your tummy is more noticeable." i have always enjoyed sheryl's blogs. and i pretty much have the impression that whoever is writing sheryl's lines in the show is the same one writing the blogs. they just sound so... consistent.

nah. sadly, i see it now. by the end of the series, you'll love the characters and the story so much, you'd definitely want it to go on. so SK comes up with a one hour special tribute looking back at all of sheryl and ranka's misadventures (played to their music of course), and by the end the frontier (with alto, sheryl and ranka on it), by now a legendary fleet on its own, is given a mission to finally look for the megaroad 1... ... and then the frontier stops communication and disappears in roughly the same area where communications with MR1 ceased. end of story. wait 25 years for the next great series.

you just might be in love with the hory froating head himself. yeah, it's probably him, hunched over in front of his laptop trying to write like a girl. he's surprisingly good at it. those years when he logged in as a female while chatting must have paid off. hehe.

wow, you're right. luca was a sure goner given his lines. but because he ate some pizza, he was miraculously spared. we might have actually found the antithesis to pineapple salad. good catch! if that's the case, eat on, frontier citizens, eat on. i wonder if ozma was eating pizza before his near-death sortee in ep 3...

same thing. the bird human is sharon apple 2.0. who also just happens to be the evolved AI collective consciousness of the robot street-sweepers in all of macross. finally got tired of cleaning all those beer cans lying around. and the last straw was when ranka knocked a few of them over in ep1 while rushing to get to the concert hall. "Before, they had not learned to stop fighting. now they haven't learned to keep their streets clean. enough is enough!"

yup, i agree that a single president would be almost "ceremonial" already, given the autonomy of each fleet. but i would like to think that there are still some decisions that have to be made by humanity as a whole, rather than by one fleet. specifically, the decision to declare war on another space-faring species.

of course it's a given that when i get the complete series, i'll be watching it one sitting. but since i've already seen the series one episode at a time, i will probably be able to discover details, subtle plto devices and other stuff that i haven't noticed during my first viewing. in that sense, the marathon experience is made richer by the fact that i've already seen the series before.

true, true. lest we forget, the vajra are a bug-type alien race which, in all-sci fi i have seen so far, rely mostly on vastly superior numbers. although i have a feeling that while an almost mind-boggling number of vajra will come to attack, that battle mgiht just be a background to a main battle that willbe far more sinister.

not so simple. use of reaction weaponry is regulated, at best. a fleet can't use these weapons without specific authorization from a higher power, and only (i presume) after all other options have repeatedly failed.

interesting. although i'll have to disagree with your last one. misa was depressed before she ate the radioactive fish. Once she ate it, she got well enough to travel, discover an ancient civilization and eventually get it on with hikaru. so... Radioactive fish = increased libido.

don't give up sheryl!! alto is just over reacting coz he's so guilty about ranka getting kidnapped. i mean, if he didn't go all "quizmaster" on ranka when she wanted a timeout, and he just let her take a dump when she wanted, none of this would have happened. on another matter, so what's with the pizzas (am i correct, are they pizzas?)?? Is this the new pineapple salad? not as effective though, seeing as that all the bridge bunnies are still alive, and so are (presumably) luca and nanase. the authorization and order to use reaction weapons on an alien fleet... sounds like someone only the head of the entire UNG can do. so who ordered it again? and how's that for a reveal? I'm brera of the galaxy, antares squadron, and i'm gonna help you from now on. cool. who said it earlier? alto and brera will be BFFs? haha, now that would be funny. too bad... ranka cought between two men who sees her as a sister. one actually is.

IIRC, in Macross 7, the macross7 fleet had to get proper authorization or direct orders from the UNG on earth before it was allowed to arm and use reaction weaponry. i'm guessing this failsafe is because the use of such weapons constitutes not just a battle, but an act of all-out war against another race or species. hence, a decision to use it must be made on behalf of the entire human species, and not just one particular fleet. on the other hand, in Ep14, we have President Glass, and only president Glass, authorizing and ordering the use of reaction weaponry. so i ask again, president of the fleet, or president of the NUNG?

ok, having watched the subs, i only realized now that the battle wasn't as one sided as comikaze depicted it to be, or as i thought. sitreps state that several NUNS battalions had been wiped out already shortly after the battle began. NUNs deliberated that the only way to get favorable odds was to use the ultimate trump card, the reaction weapons. (yeah right, ultimate trump card. ahem. dimension eater. ahem.)

i'm just curious. what was nanase/luca and the bridge bunnies (including cathy glass) eating before the battle. was it pizza? is that what passes for pineapple salad/steak these days?

ok, after watching ep14 subs, when alto killed the vajra queen, cathy glass and the quarter crew observed that the vajra fleet was in "chaos". it was at this point that the humans started to have complete victory during the battle. allow me to add similarity number 6: the death of the queen in battle causes the fleet to act without coordination, rendering them helpless and as good as defeated during the battle.
