  1. It's been a long while since I've posted to MW... ...anyways, just wanted to share some pics of the 1/3000 SDF-01 I got back in October. Enjoy
  2. Hi, I'm wondering if anyone can help me out here: I've tinkered with my desktop PC/media server over the weekend and now I'm able to watch gg fansub's Macross Frontier .mkv files on my PS3 via streaming from TVersity...but the subtitles aren't showing up Anyone know what I can do to remedy this? All I've done so far was pretty much do a basic TVserity install on my PC, select my media files to be made available, and set the transcode resolution setting to 720p on my PC. I have the K-Lite standard codec pack installed on my PC. Thanks for any help! =) If anything, I'm finding TVersity to be much better than Windows Media Player...simpler interface, not as bloated, easier to connect, and being able to try and transcode some videos to make them work for your different media players is pretty nice (better than nothing! =)
  3. I like how Nissan is marketing the GT-R worldwide: a supercar for otakus who are well-off in the professional workplace. You can see that in the way the car is presented at shows, as well as in their brochures. The chief designer of the GT-R even relates it to Gundam (taken from the latest Road & Track article): All the cool rich people will buy their BMW M-series, M-B AMGs, Bentleys, Aston Martins, Porsches and Ferraris...whereas the well-paid otaku salarymen will have something to proudly champion as their own.

  5. Here's some Voltron-related news... You heard of Macross, Gundam, and Transformers-inspired Nikes, how about Voltron-inspired Reeboks? Reebok Voltron Lion Force Pack
  6. This thing just randomly popped up in my head all of a sudden, but her egoes... The scene where Hibiki does the 'disappearing hand trick' on Ishtar pays homage to what classic movie? I remember on TV randomly seeing a movie doing the same exact scene years ago, but I forgot what it was.
  7. You can take off that piece in the back to make the robot mode look cleaner...it even has a spot in the base/pedestal you can place it in for storage.
  8. Has the Chogokin GunBuster been spotted at Frank & Sons yet? If so, what's the average price for it there? I'm thinking of heading there sometime soon but don't want to drive all the way there to find out it's not in stock. Thanks!

    BP8's

I'm trying to find a recast too, please let me know as well! =) Does anyone know if HLJ can still source a BP8 from Yamato directly? That's where I got my first BP8 replacement part. Thanks in advance for any info...
  10. I gotta find me that shirt too, I'm near those spots Bobe mentioned, I hit them up every couple of weeks... Anyways, here's my pair of kicks...I like them a lot =)
  11. Nah, I don't skate (I wish, but I can rollerblade =P)...I'm more of a shoe head (buying various Nikes, Jordans, etc.) that got caught up in Dunks and Nike's SB line... But I met and hung out with a recently now-former pro skater through some friends of mine though (if that counts for anything =P)
  12. Update: Active Mailorder (www.activemailorder.com) got them in today( 10/21), it's NOT for sale on their website, phone orders only...$99.99 plus free shipping (+ tax in CA)...ask for the Shimizu Nike Dunk SBs, I don't know if they'll know what you mean by 'Macross Nikes' =P If in the LA/OC/Rivseride area, call the stores to see if they got them in. Ordered mine (along with the new Gino FCs), should get them sometime next week... Good hunting y'all =)
  13. Nike Dunk SBs retail from $80-90 a pair, but it's very rare you'll find them at those prices at the local skateshops and Mom & Pop stores, especially for more 'limited' colors (that's if you can find them at all).
  14. I don't know if this has been posted here before, but there's a pair of Nike Dunk SBs that are coming out in a familiar color scheme (check out the tongue tag): They're not official Macross Dunks (like the Nike/Bandai Gundam Amuro Nike Shox VC2 and Char Air Max Uptempo), but they're definitely 'inspired' =) I'll be in search for a pair when they come out...
  15. Brutha Spaceball when 'combing' the dessert with a giant pik: "We ain't found s**t!" It'd be great if "Search for More Money" ever comes out =)
  16. I wonder if this book has a painting HAL made like 1-2 years ago, a red-headed girl (not Mylene) simply sitting on a street curb...I first saw it as a limited edition signed, numbered, and framed print at AX 2002 (or was it 2001?) going for like $5000+ at one of the vendors.
  17. Here's my story about 'ordering' spare parts from HLJ... I e-mailed HLJ sometime last month inquiring about how much it would cost for parts BP-7 and BP-8 on a 1/48 Hikaru VF-1A Valk shipped to California (the tabs on the my Valk's backpack hinge broke off) I got a response from them saying it would take anywhere from 4-6 weeks to get the parts and they asked me to e-mail them a confirmation if I wanted to get it. I didn't reply back to them, and just left it at that. About 1 1/2-2 weeks later I get an e-mail confirmation from HLJ saying that they have processed my 'order' (i.e. charged my CC) and shipped out the parts! (I ordered from them before.) At first I was shocked that they did this without my authorization but when the parts arrived about a week later I was happy that I was now able to fix my Valk properly =) I switched out the broken parts with the new parts, panel lined it, and my Valk was all good again. (In doing this I had to take out the metal pegs/rods that connected the hinged parts together and put them in the new ones...it was very tedious and at the same time kinda scary cuz I thought I might end up breaking the new parts from pressing/pushing the rods into them =P) All in all, it cost about $24 total (shipped to California) for the two parts to the backpack hinge. Pretty pricey for just two little pieces of plastic (mostly due to shipping), but if you want your already-pricey 1/48 Valk repaired this looks like your best option... I guess I was 'lucky' to have HLJ get the parts out in a fairly quick turn-around, despite the fact that I didn't confirm the order...but it worked out well =) HLJ was a little too good in this case =P
  18. I've been buying the models instead of the figures myself...I prefer the original JDM 'stubby' SD look compared to their American cousins =)
  19. Not to be confused with: (Every Star Wars thread must have a pic of the Billy Dee Colt 45 ad =) EDIT: Samuel L. Jackson could've played one wicked Han Solo =)
  20. Nike's been cross-marketing with other companies lately by making limited edition versions of certain shoes...the Gundam VC II's are an example, but there's also stuff like the Heineken Dunk and the EA Sports Air Force II's out there as well...big collector's market out there for this stuff...
  21. FYI, the shoes look like customized Nike Shox VC II's (i.e. Vince Carter's signature shoes). Nike Shox VC II at Niketown.com Edit: Maybe Vince Carter's a Gundam fan? =P
