  1. True what Seto said, but I have seen people on this very forum (no specific names that I remember though) who have said they disliked the movie versions. I suppose it helps I was always #TeamSheryl even in the show so the movies definitely validated my opinion, lol. This is at least one thing we can at least hope for in the Delta movie, that Mirage might at least get more of a chance to be part of the triangle. However it is unlikely Freyja won't still win and with the focus seeming to be on Walkure I fear Seto may be right again that people like Mirage may just become background. Add in that Kawamori didn't even want a triangle in this show in the first place (and boy does it show), and it is easy to believe the movie version might just not bother with the pretense.
  2. The show was pretty successful in Japan (especially when it comes to launching Walkure), but it didn't top Frontier which was a bit of a surprise hit as it was. Honestly, this is what I expected. It's the same thing as the Frontier movies did. I am one of the few that actually liked the reworked Frontier movie story better than the shows (but I still like the show, and the canon is certainly some weird cosmic mix of the two like SDFM and DYRL does). So all in all I think this is a good thing and hopefully this version of the Delta story will be better written (it certainly will have better pacing). That all being said, at least one new song?! Frontier movies had entire new soundtracks practically, lol.
  3. Yes, because the ones we saw were the ones produced for Macross 7, an emigrant fleet government. As Seto explained, they will get lower technology versions of anything Federal is capable of having.
  4. Frontier NUNS would get a monkey model compared to the Federal NUNS (read: Earth) because a colony can't have something as good as the people in charge. That's how things work in the NUNS. It is more obvious post-decentralization but it always happened. You can be sure even the stuff Macross 7 fleet got was less powerful than what the Federal Forces had at the time. This is why it's almost a certainty that the federal VF-24 (or whatever they might move onto later) is a monster of overpowered specs compared to any VF-25, 27, or 31 (with the YF-29 being the only thing to come close).
  5. I'm likely pretty ignorant on all the details but it seems to me it is better that it is a TWE. Certainly easier to preorder...
  6. Now that the fear of missing it is gone I went ahead and placed an order at CDJapan to take advantage of the pay later ability. However before the deadline ends I might decide to go for one of the cheaper up front options when I have the money to burn, heh. One way or another I'll get it.
  7. Thanks, that makes me feel better cause I was woefully unprepared for this. I did try to rush through a cdjapan order but it was having trouble with my card for some reason and I'm far too tired to figure it out now. Their delayed payment is ideal but the prices elsewhere may make me reconsider if I can still order after my next payday.
  8. Well this came as a shock to me in the early morning. I didn't expect this to be up for preorder so suddenly.... I don't have time to read 3 pages of posts, is this regular or exclusive? If I miss it today will I have trouble later? Can I preorder without paying up front anywhere?
  9. See "Do You Remember Love?'s" Minmay shower scene, and Macross Plus: Movie Addition Lucy topless scene. Both are short, but basically to the same level of what we saw in Macross Zero. Movies and OVAs can get away with that unlike shows. More importantly, it's a cultural thing too. Japanese aren't as prudish about nudity as Americans (especially when it comes to female breasts). Sure they don't go around in everyday locations showing off, and your standard TV shows (or anime such as the primary Macross shows) won't have it but it's not uncommon in late evening broadcasted stuff. This is even true in Tokusatsu genre shows (the same genre as Super Sentai, aka the source material for Power Rangers) where more adult themed shows won't shy away from one episode or two of nudity (see the Garo franchise for an example).
  10. Seto is right there, just compare intact Protoculture devices. There is the ship on Windermere but they IMO pales in comparison to the Bird Human which was not only powerful beyond measure but appeared to be fully sentient (or at least sapient). That it was designed to mimic the Vajra which themselves are considered worthy of worship by the Protoculture. Then there is the Evil series weapons which are possessed by the Protodeviln and were practically unstoppable by any normal means. The Protoculture were seriously advanced, likely borderline Kardashev Type 3, but at least high type 2. Humanity by Delta is Type 1, with a good chance of scratching the surface of 2 within a century of they keep pace.
  11. She retired from voice acting.
  12. The VF-1's weren't beam cannons like later VFs (I think it was the YF-19 and YF-21 that first did dimensional beam weapons in the head units, Seto says somewhere up there too), they were just lasers.. really powerful lasers mind you.. but less powerful than later beam weapons. Most VFs have a stupid amount of power, but in space a lot of the fuel is used pretty fast, which is why super parts are a common theme in space until Gen 5, where they were really just an excuse for More Dakka and even more Itano Circus (and armoring). When they graduated to the heavy quantum beam gunpods on the VF-27, YF-29, and YF-30 they did need more powerful engines. The VF-27 prototypes I think needed four partly for the weapon but the final version had it easier... I'm probably mis-remembering the details but Seto's keyboard ain't broke yet, lol. I always thought it could do more than one shot but we only ever saw that stock footage of Gamlin one-shotting Gabil... every time.
  13. The fold quartz is in the nose cone, not the canopy (and also those bits on the chest piece behind the cockpit in fighter mode, but the biggest piece is in the nose, at least on the YF-29). The VF-31 does have fold quartz as it has a Fold Wave system, but it might have less than the YF-29 since it doesn't seem as ludicrously expensive (they made 5 of them after all, 6 if you count Hayate's second VF-31J, though they might have re-purposed parts from the VF-31F he'd been flying). The YF-29's that are for sure canon are Alto's Durandal seen in The Wings of Goodbye, and the YF-29B Rod flies for Havamal in Macross 30. Though Macross 30 I think also showcases the Ozma Durandal as well.. not sure if it has the Isamu one. The only one that is entirely non-canon for sure is the anniversary toy that has somewhat Fokker-ish colors. It doesn't appear in any media.
  14. Agh.. I had a brain fart I guess, I know I meant to write that the Protodeviln reacted negatively to Fire Bomber in general.
  15. I love this topic even if it mostly boils down to an AMA for Seto, lol. I don't mind, he's a gold mine. However in spirit of the topic including opinions as well as actual data, I'll not answer the best VF question as it is pretty subjective to criteria. I will add a new criteria though: multi role vs specialized VFs. Every iteration seems to have a say in this topic. The VF-1 is the most versatile likely with the VF-25 essentially becoming the current gen successor to that. Seto made clear why the VF-11 never quite managed that. Still it makes sense why you'd want a plane that can do it all. Like in real life though where this is debated, multi role craft often are not the best at any specific mission. VFs like the VF-4 exist because the need at the time was a space superiority fighter, and it was great for that. Not so much in atmosphere though, which is why the VF-5000 came about, and became a mainstay on planets before the VF-11. The purpose of the YF-19 and YF-21 competition was specifically to make mission focused designs as the next main series for smaller production but greater specialization. This arguably worked but both ended up so specialized the VF-19 and VF-22 became special units next to simpler and more usable VF-171s (not to mention the VF-17 which was also specialized a generation before). So the real question is, with the constant back and forth, where do you stand on specialized units vs multi role VFs? Is the VF-25 with its many pack options the end result of this idea (additionally the less advanced VF-31A/B with its ordinance container options, regardless of the fact we've barely seen any of those options)?
  16. The Sivil reaction thing has been consistently joked about cause it looks suspiciously similar to that. Coupled with the fact that everyone but the PD react so positively to Fire Bomber music leads some to guess that get reaction and the fact she keeps coming back for more is a kind of "hurts so good" thing lol.
  17. Almost, lol. Though Sivil's music-induced orgasms tends to distract from it.

    Uta Macross!

The Macross The Tribute album, known for having various Macross artists swap song roles, has Ishtar singing a surprisingly good rendition of Voices though. (It also has a Minmay version of Angel Voice and Fukuyama/Basara doing the SDFM theme including guitar!)

They might even pull in idols from games if they feel up to it, such as Mina Forte.. though there is only one song associated with her.

So for those wondering, I got to rank 16, but before that I visited memory lane quickly to see if it showed at all when Basara and Mylene would appear. Like normal it only showed the square for the next thing to unlock which at the time was a Sheryl song (turned out to be 'What bout by star'). Then without prompting a picture of Basara pops up shouting something and the song square is literally pushed aside with Basara's unlock square taking it's place. Basara literally cut in line so he'd unlock next, lol. I did then unlock him at 16, and then it moved back to the Sheryl song... which then caused Mylene to jump in and cut in line the same way! I'm just laughing now. Weirdly, a few song plays later, and Mylene unlocks for me even though I didn't rank up again (I also even got the song that had been pushed back twice, lol). So I have them both now. Seems they programmed the game with this update to ensure people got Basara and Mylene as soon as they could.
  21. They had that for 5 episodes at most.. then they dropped the IMO very interesting concept of the Immelmann Dance and it's potential combat application so Hayate could suddenly become a regular pilot.
  22. Mylene's singing voice was never Tomo Sakurai (despite that she can sing rather well), but Chei Kajiura who has continued to sing those songs to today.
