  1. Used to have pre-orders at reasonable prices, until the VF-171 Ex plus preorder came along (Alto version). Shops that pre-ordered were played out by Bandai, in the sense that they accepted pre- orders but ultimately none came and since then none of the shops dared to do pre-orders for DXes anymore. So now, it is even cheaper to order from a heavily marked up shop like NY, shipping included, than to buy it locally. Sad.
  2. 1st, I'm pretty sure they wont grow any. 2nd, they can make money, but.. refer to 1st point. 3rd, they dun care if we can sleep well, our sleep is a super distant 2nd compared to theirs.
  3. After I placed an order with HLJ, logged out for real work and re-logged back in to look at my order..... and it wasn't there!! No confirmation email either! I went back to try to order another one but it was sold out! Felt like ultimate crap for a few minutes....... . . . . . Until the order confirmation came.... phew~!
  4. "Discount" @ Nippon Yasan! from 21500 to 19500 yen http://www.nippon-yasan.com/lang-en/macross/4450-macross-f-dx-chogokin-yf-29-durandal-valkyrie-30th-anniversary-color-reissue.html&force=1 Good for those yet to get 1!
  5. Because this is built to order. As long as the orders are in before the cut off date, no worries.
  6. I've emailed Otacute regarding cancelled orders and asked if they will be available... the reply is: everything that became available is now gone.
  7. I somewhat agree. If the valks were at retail prices, then I would totally say yes(!), it is definitely a win for both... but with Bandai's valks, since are are forced to pay way higher than retail, not so much. Also, by taking the option to pay later, the exchange rate risk is totally borne by us consumers. NY and other dealers just get the same amount in Yen Let me put it this way, if the yen was still as expensive as say 1 year ago, would we still be as likely to pay the kind of mark up NY is asking for now? For some, yes, but for most of us, no, and it is reflected in the prices that NY is asking for right now.
  8. Actually, the way it is.... its good for NY and not so much for us. Rest of us Gaijin are only willing to pay up to a certain amt our own currency, just so happens that that same amount translates into more yen right now. So, we end up paying the maximum we are willing to pay (in your own local currency) still, but it translates into much more Yen for NY (or a scalper dealing in Yen) ultimately.
  9. At 220 usd on NY, this is absolute madness IMO, I bow out of this competition. Hope one more person can get it. Edit: Oh and F*ck you Bandai! _^_______/\. <| ________| / ~ /_) /__/
  10. lol.... In all seriousness, we can consider taking leave on pre-order days simply to devote out time fully pressing "F5" on the PC!
  11. Damn... I had refreshing the page every 5 minutes... and i did not even stand a chance!
  12. Can I ask for the said tips too? Thanks in advance!
  13. Valk-1S, on 03 Apr 2013 - 16:22, said: If you ask me, this kind of frustration is way easier to bear, and I am not frustrated by it at all! (Think of the poor folks who missed the boat for 1/60 M&Ms and Virgin road). Maximum you lose if they go on discount is what? 50% tops? Compare this with Bandai: Most are not able to get them for retail, and can prices they can command can go easily in excess of 150% or the MSRP, not to mention the fact you need to spend alot of effort looking out for deals and stuff. Yamato (easily) anytime for me.
  14. QFT. Always thought and still think they are the best toy company that happened to Macross collectors
  15. Sheesh.... most of us never stood a chance
  16. Hm... I guess since the are re-leasing the VF-25F, the 25S should be coming back soon too, maybe in August?
  17. Thanks for the guide/ translations! definitely a Godsend to non-Japanese speakers
  18. My understanding of the 1/60 VF-1 line was profitable such that obscure or not, every valk sold is profitable, since they recovered their costs
  19. its actually not priced that expensive... its the availability... or rather lack of it, that push the retailers and re-sale market to price it higher than it normally would have been
  20. Somewhat true.... In full tv colors. However, the max and Millia 1/48s also came with tv fast packs, but the boosters were color matched.
  21. For Kicker, it isn't "what to collect", but rather "how much to collect"
