  1. Since we're at the end of the year I thought we should have a get it or forget it list of PS2 games. What are your favorite games of the last year? WHat's in your ps2 now? and what games would you not get again? My Fav's are Macross, and DBZ bodokai 2. Current: DBZ bodokai 2 Forget: Haven't bought a bad game this year.
  2. 1. The box is big enough. There are only 1-2 levels that you will feel restricted but its neccessary for the level. Most levels you can hit it but you have to try. 2. it feels like your actually flying around. Better than most flight games I think. 3. You can do loops but it takes a while in atmosphere. In space its fast but so is turning. In atmosphere your valk doesn't handle nearly as well. Hope this helps. Just get the game its worth it.
  3. Mostly, you can only unlock new valks by playing either the ARMD or premethious levels. There are some that can be unlocked via free fight mode. Also in free fight mode some mecha aren't allowed on some levels. You'll find that the GBP isn't allowed on all levels. Some levels you have to use it. Basically because the level was made for the GBP.
  4. I think after this one they should do a SD version of the original macross TV series. Kinda like that little SD movie somebody made. THen they can start releasing More joke machines and SD stuff. I'd love a SD glaug or pod to go with my Joke machines. Or How about a SD Macross(SDF-1) like they showed in the intro to super robot wars alpha. You know I bet it would be super easy for them to make it. They could just take the voice and music tracks from the original and just add new animation.
  5. Looking to by some import amime...you know the HK bootlegs from companies like FX and MAC. Anybody know some good sites that sell a large variety of these?
  6. Kurumi season 1 is awsome. Something I could sit down with the wife and enjoy. I actually like the english dub of this. I think kurumi's annoying voice only enhances her character. I also like the Japanese track but not enough to read them everytime I watch it. Hey...How can you not like Kurumi's kuwii sound. It makes the series.
  7. Battle cry isn't as bad of a game as everyone here suggests. I think they are letting their hate of HG get the best of them. Truthfully I would put battlecry on par with VFX2. Yes there are are levels (usually the city one's that you fly in a box where fighter mode is rendered pretty much useless. Some of the levels are very fun while other suck... so its pretty much like any other game out there. I like the novelty of the cell shading but it really did in my eyes. Give you headaches when you first start playing the game. Additionally the storyline was interesting. You get a new character with missions interlaced into the macross saga or robotech. I actually like the controls better than the new macross game. Fighter manuverability is also much better. Gerwalk is better in the new bandai game. Battroid mode is about the same. In battle cry it was easier to shoot down missles while the new bandai game its easier to dodge them. Last week Fry's electronics had battlecry for $7 and the collectors ed (includes dog tags and t-shirt for $9. I consider this a bargin. For the amount I played battlecry to open up all levels and paint I would be willing to pay $20 for it. I do think that overall the new bandai macross game is much better overall. I think the fighter controls are very sluggish in the atmosphere but work well in space. Price it cost me---$72 shipped) I think this is too much but what do you expect for an import. and its not like imports get much cheaper with time.
  8. I have M3 and didn't mind it. It works on a US dreamcast with a boot disk. Gameplay is rough but not horrible. I beat the game in about 2 hours. I wouldn't spend more than $20 on it though. I spent $22 shipped off ebay. Biggest problem with it is that you can't really follow the story line since it diverges quite a lot from the anime.
  9. ( I have both the slide card and flip top). Slide cards damage the motor that opens your PS2's tray. Eventually it wears out. Plus the slide card is a total pain in the butt to use. The flip top works great...no complaints. I'm not an expert but after big O mentioned it I searched a lot of forums and almost everybody's motor wears out with the slide card. So they either have to get a flip top or use the slide card all the time. Plus I've heard that the slide cards themselves tend to wear out...the little hook breaks off. Everyone says that you should make a copy of your slide card with an old credit card or some styrene.
  10. My wifes favorites are: DDR max 2 (pm me if you want this) Kingdom hearts (run around with disney characters) massive game Any spiro game (the little dragon whoops ass) SSX and SSX2 (she snowboards)
  11. Anyone still looking for this game. I'm thinking of selling mine since I've beat it.
  12. Actually VFx2 looks better on my Pent II 450mhz with 16mg vid card than it does on a ps1. Plus you get to use a flightstick. Some of the emulators are very good...some are very bad. The gameboy one's are nice cause you can play a gameboy game on full screen. I've used virtualboy advance, epsxe, and some nes one. They are handy.
  13. Key to blind game mission...ignore everything but the one that took the cat's eye. Fighter mode to get near it. Go battroid and lock on and waste it. It'll take just over one full cycle with your gun. Once the one with the cat is destroyed kill everything else. Don't worry they won't take the cat again.
  14. just get the flip top lid with magic swap disks.
  15. Hey rohby, can you put me down for 4 figures. or 2 sets of 2... $10 bucks right? Thanks Jim
  16. I finally got an S on ARMD level 6. Funny thing was there are clues to help you beat it. If you look around you'll see a couple of kite symbols. They are on the towers. I had better luck with the tower closest to the Macross. The battle armors seem to excel in fighting you when your on the ground...so...get up in the air and waste them with your gun. Missles seem useless against them. Plus if you stay near that first tower you'll have cover for the next step when all the pods and glaugs start flying over. Next it is very important that you pass this first 1/2 of the stage with a perfect score. I got a perfect score on the first stage and didn't on the second and still got an S rank. Your given full health for the second half anyway. For the second half concentrate on the scout ships one at a time. you pretty much have to destroy them one at a time or else you have all of them flying around almost destroyed and they waste the macross. Find one and use your r1 button to follow it. (if it just stops moving get out of the firing path cause it going to fire its beam weapon. Kill these off one by one and then kill off the pods and glaugs. Also by using the r1 most of the missles will miss you as long as you stay in the air. Get the timing down for using your boost in the GBP to stay in the air indefidently. Now I just gotta beat that last ARMD stage and I'm done.
  17. 1. online capability. With an american online patch and server at macrossworld ( I hate split screen) 2. More mecha. Maybe add some destroid missions and many more styles of fighter. 3. Ability to fly zentraidi mecha 4. Triple the amount of missions. 5. Custom paint generator 6. Include life size minmay or myun or sharon apple doll (just kidding)
  18. ok! now that there's a joke like art to go off I might have to try this.
  19. I agree. I noticed that 40,000 seemed to be a common mark for S. Also like d-bud i needed a 72% hit rate on one of the ARMD levels to get S.
  20. Both my wife and I play with my bandai reissues. I wouldn't with a yammie 1/60 since it wouldn't last an hour of serious dogfighting. The chunky monkeys rule. My wife's fav is my milla reissue and my favorite is the max. I was lucky enough to find a woman who loves anime and toys. she just don't like the price tag. THe only toy better than a chunky monkey is a Joke Machine. HMMM that's also made by bandai isn't it. Guess bandai and takatoku just make great toys.
  21. I've finished all of the promethius levels with "S" grades. The most difficult was the first level and the second most difficult was the last level. For the first level I found that only a perfect health score will do. To do this I first ran around in battroid killing the pods one by one. THen went to gerwalk and destroid all of the airborn pods before the glaug arrives. As soon as the glaug arrived I hit fighter mode a got away (put the macross at your back and fly to the left most corner away from the macross...there are good size building there to hide behind that can take some damage) Now change to gerwalk, lock on, rise up and fire your large missles till they are gone or they aren't hitting anymore then switch to small. Duck behind building b/w vollys. If your building gets destroyed find a new one in another corner of the map via fighter mode. For the last level, just do your best on the first parts killing everything. Try to use battroid mode by locking on and firing while strafing (most of the missles fired on you will miss in space if your strafing and firing). Get to the ship destroying part and use your nukes. Must have no damage to get S score. Anybody had any luck with the A-6 and A-8 levels. THey are the only levels I dont' have an S on.
  22. Please add me to the list. I'd like seven but my final order will depend on the price.
  23. Finally got S ranks on all the Promethius stages. Now I got 6 left on the ARMD stages. Still missing the last 3 cards. Man these ARMD levels are hard.
  24. Pleeeeeeeeeese make these. I need like 7 sets! Also could use some custom elint and ostrich and GBP stickers to fit a joke. I would prefer the DYRL stickers. Pleeeeese make them.
  25. One thing for those getting the flip top case. The directions are a little confusing at one step. Thats the step of removing the little white spinner disk from your old case. I e-mailed the makers and they said to just pry it out with a screwdriver (the plastec is very flexible) However, before I got the return on their message I got impatient and just removed the black shinny disk on the top of the tray cover to get the white disk out. THe black disk is just held down by some glue so if your careful you won't break it.
