  1. Sorry for the delayed response, but not my fault since the forums have been down! I still work on it a bit off and on, but it is sort of in limbo these days. To some extent I've moved onto modding games like Jedi Outcast/Academy and KOTOR/TSL. I still hope to finish it, although I'll probably reduce the scope quite a bit to something a bit more basic unfortunately. But I'd rather finish something that is complete instead of trying to do to much. So I guess the short answer is that it is still alive, but barely.
  2. It was an homage to the giant space worm in ESB...
  3. It is a really fun game for the style that it is. I also think that it is probably the best simulation of lightsaber combat that has come out so far...
  4. Is there any official comment/documented statement that around that time the general populace or general military became aware about the events of Macross Zero?
  5. For all that The Phantom Menace was not, the Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan/Darth Maul fight is one of the highlights of the entire saga.
  6. I found that as well. I guess there isn't as much sensory overload the second time. You can spend more time noticing all the suttleties.
  7. I've never heard of such a thing. But that's not saying much.
  8. Here is what the unofficial database has to say about them: "although xenoanthropologists disagree on whether or not this alien race was actually native to the planet Mandalore, they were in agreement that the ancient Mandalorians were a race of gray-skinned beings who were almost constantly at war. Analysis of the physiology of the ancient Mandalorians and their language pointed to the possibility that the Mandalorians were actually the descendants of the Taungs of Coruscant. What is known for sure is that the ancient Mandalorians eventually died out, and the name "Mandalorians" became a catch-all for any being - regardless of race - who adhered to the tenets of the Mandalorian shock troopers."
  9. Jeez, I didn't know Singer had left beforehand. Boy am I behind the times.
  10. Looks awesome. I just love this fighter...

    Macross MMO

But, but... I LIKE cartoony graphics. That was one of Robotech: Battlecry's best features, IMO. Ah good. It wasn't just me.
  12. If I inderstand what you are saying, you are incorrect. Palpatine as he is at the end of the film (deformed) is actually his true appearance, and the Palpatine "normal" look is a ruse. http://img287.echo.cx/img287/8927/palps8zt.jpg
  13. I got me copy last week. It is a must have for Macross fans. Has anyone done english translations for the descriptions? Not that it matters too much.
  14. ACtually, I beleive they have made the EU stories canon to a certain extent. It boils down to that the movies are the most canon and override everything else. The books, games, comics, etc. are the next level canon. In the case of games where there are options for being light side or dark side (like KOTOR and the JK series) the light side option is considered canon. This would explained in one of those "ask the Jedi Coucil" things on starwars.com. The link for those seems to be broken right now. Also, Lucas has stated that the EU is a parallel universe that does not affect his films. Thus, he can do whatever he wants with them. I agree completely about the potential of the Old Republic era in regards to stories. There is just so much freedom there, especially before the rule of two comes about and there are armies of Sith.I also agree about the post-ROTJ stories. While there are some good ones, most concepts seem pretty forced. The story of the Empire and Luke and the gang really is wrapped up at the end of ROTJ and their character archs are complete. In regards to the NJO, the fact that they felt they had to deviate so dramatically form anything Star Wars screams to me that the potential of that era has long since been used up. The other problem is that since all those stories were written before ROTS, there are plot holes and inconsistencies as well as just parts that probably would have been done differently now.
  15. It is undeniable that there was a large segment that didn't like Episodes 1 and 2. However, I think it is a bit overstated since ther majority actually enjoyed these films. Rotten Tomatoes had "fresh" ratings for both TPM (63%) and AOTC (65%) and almost twice as many favorable to non-favorable reviews. The IMDB ratings for these films are 6.4/10 and 7.0/10 respectively. Those who frequent that site will know that these are decent ratings, and in AOTC case, 7.0 is quite respectible.
  16. I remember watching it regularly, but I hardly remember anything about it now...
  17. But hey, look on the plus side... Stupid people are easier to manipulate. Raise an army of stupid fans and take over the world! Are we allowed Bush comments in this thread?
  18. Or, it could be what George Lucas said it was. That reference by Palpatine doesn't have to have any relation to Anakin's birth. Now, I could see the need to assign it that meaning if it had been mentioned with no obvious purpose. But it already serves as the plot device that motivates Anakin to consider the Dark Side. It doesn't need to serve two purposes. And, according to Lucas, it doesn't. Indeed. If Plagius really did have something to do with Anakin's conception, why the hell would he use a slave woman on a remote planet and then disappear before the kid was born? Surely doing this would be to serve his own purposes, and thus he would want some control over the "outcomes". And yet there is nothing of the sort. Palpatine is just leading Anakin down the path...
