  1. Agree, but the difference here is that Stallone is not directing, it's Simon West, same dude that did Con Air, so I expect the action sequences to be much better.
  2. It's been for the better for me, I've seen it 3 times. The low point of the movie for me it's the jail concert/Sheryl's breakout. The high points IMO is Ranka's concert scene, and the whole third act. When it comes to Ranka's concert scene, I'm still in awe of how well designed it was, the direction, choreography, use of color, I'd put it up against any similar Disney production, it's that good. IMO it's a great example of mixing the old with the new, it has that old school anime feel when it comes to the design (It reminded me of the DAICON shorts) while using new animation technology. The third act is just mind blowing, the scale of the action scenes is huge, all perfectly synced to the songs, which IMO are not as good as the ones from The False Diva, but still good, I can't even begin to imagine how much work was put into the last 30 minutes of the movie. The songs that I think are in the same level as the ones from the first movie are The End of Triangle, Houkago Overflow and Niji iro Kuma Kuma, in other words I like Ranka's songs better, other songs might grow on me later, but the one that just didn't do anything for me was the Elixir song, especially compared to something like Universal Bunny from the first movie (song AND concert sequence). I think it's worth noting how much Hiroshi Yagishita has grown up during these Macross productions, the TV series was great, the first movie was a step forward, and this last movie is his best work to date by a long shot IMO, if I could make one request it would be for the one on one dog fights to be longer, I'm sorry, I've been spoiled by Plus and Zero. I really can't wait to see what's in store for Macross after this.
  3. I used Xvid4PSP, been using it for a long time. http://www.videohelp.com/tools/XviD4PSP
  4. Ok guys, if you remember I hardcoded a 720p version of The False Diva when it came out, I just finished doing the same for Wings of Goodbye. What I did: PS3/XBOX compatible MP4. Used the subs provided a few posts back on this very thread, so credit to you guys for the corrections. Adjusted the subs size, they were too big for my taste. Added drop shadows to the song subs, the colors were getting lost with the background. There's a part where Ranka goes "Ai-kun!" followed by "did you save us?" or something, the "kun" was missing on the subs so I added them If you have a problem with big files, this is not the version for you. My priority is high quality for both video and audio, otherwise I would not have bothered hardcoding this at all. All credit goes to the original posters. I'm working on a 1080p version with multichannel audio for myself, if there's demand for it I could upload it somewhere, the problem is that my up speed is very limited, it takes me about 4 times the time to upload the file than what it takes me to encode it. Enjoy.
  5. WOW! That's looks absolutely incredible, that's the most footage I've seen from the second movie so far, can't wait.
  6. Thanks alot for this, the hard work and time spent is very much appreciated!
  7. Please do, I personaly cant get enough of that stuff, interviews, behind the scene looks, production anecdotes, share all you have!
  8. Yes, I'll do the same for Wings of Goodbye, and it's really not a problem, you're all very welcome. Isamu, I'll start seeding again to help you out, also, don't forget to check out the imacross server for direct downloads here: http://www.macrosshare.com/2010/10/movie-macross-frontier-itsuwari-no-uta.html
  9. I used that for a while, performance was hit or miss, also tried ps3 media server, same thing, now I use twonky media, never going back to anything else, it's simplistic, does what I want, and its the fastest I have tried, only downside is that it doesnt transcode, but I never used that with the other programs. You're going to have to pinpoint if the problem is actually TVersity or on your PS3 settings, also if you're either streaming wirelessly or not, I had similar problems while streaming HD media on the PS3, it would choke up even though it wasn't reaching the bandwidth cap, switching certain settings on under network on the PS3 fixed the problem. PS: I added the program I use in case you wanna try it out. TwonkyMedia 4.4.4.zip
  10. The hand drawn animation looks excellent, if only the movie looked that good
  11. You're all welcome guys, and and thanks for keeping the torrent alive, as for download time, most people that got the torrent when it first came out finished within 12 hours or so, maybe a bit more. Rabidweezil: give it another try once your torrent is done, it really shouldn't give you any problems.
  12. No sorry, I didn't even thought about that, you can still watch it on your TV though, either burn it to a DVD, copy the file to the ps3 hard drive through the network, or stream it.
  13. The actual size of USB sticks it's less than adverstized, the 8GB that I have only really has 7.45GB available, HD manufacturers use a different measurement for capacity, I came across this: and this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hard_drive#Capacity_measurements On that measurement table it says that you only get 930MB per GB advertised, so your 4GB USB stick, is really only 3.72GB or so, the movie file is 3.87GB that's why its asking you for those 140MB
  14. here it is: http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/5940278 Let's test it out and see if it works, never done this before >_>
  15. I could definetly do that, as a matter of fact I even registered on TPB earlier in the week, the problem is that my up speed is pretty low, and most likely it'll take you less time to get them from the direct download links I posted, I'll go ahead and set up the torrent anyway to see how it goes. I'll link it up as soon as it's done.
  16. Ok, here we go: Macross Frontier The False Diva 720P Hardcoded PS3/XBOX360 compatible MP4. THORA subs, translation by msubs. Video: 1280x720, 23.976 fps, x264, 4433 Kbps 2-pass bitrate encode from original BD video source. Audio: Stereo AAC 224 kbps from lossless. What I did: I tried to make the highest quality file out of the compatibility limitations of the playback devices, stereo only sound for XBOX, and under 4GB (FAT32) in size for PS3 removable media. I didn't use THORA's video rip because there's a bad frame after alto and sheryl fall from that little cliff on the forrest, I know, not a big deal, but I'm pretty anal when it comes to things like that. I also did some minor editing to THORA's sub file, changed text from "Songstress" in the name to "Diva" which I read here it's supossed to be the official english name of the movie. Resized and re-aligned all of the song lyrics on top of the screen, IMO in the original release the fonts were way too big and distracting, currently they are still very much readable but don't take as much space. I rewatched the movie as I was uploading the files for quality, seemed quite good to me, please provide feedback, and confirmation that it plays ok on XBOX360 as I only have a PS3. All credit goes to the original content posters. Links: http://www.fileserve.com/file/9peYzQz http://www.fileserve.com/file/mwFVacE http://www.fileserve.com/file/u3tBbFh http://www.fileserve.com/file/3udqKck http://www.fileserve.com/file/nwUbZP2 PS: I made a high quality 1080P version earlier this week with 5.1 AAC sound @ 640kbps for my collection which I'm willing to upload if there's enough interest, it's a big file.
  17. I have been working on my own encodes of the movie this past week, I'm harcoding thora's subs to a PS3/XBOX360 compatible MP4, would it be ok to share the links here after I upload the file somewhere? I have also looked into just sumbitting a torrent to multiple trackers but my upload speed is very limited and would need a lot of help seeding, let me know.
  18. Question, THORA just released their version with subs by msubs, is this the same group that released the subs linked in this thread? Thanks. Did anyone get the subs from this link before it got removed? http://www.megaupload.com/?d=4J5PUZ6H that's supossed to be the latest revised version.
  19. I don't think it was stiff, as matter of fact I liked the beginning of it quite a bit, things get a bit iffy after blue-haired Sheryl shows up though, you see her close up, then opening her arms, those shots from all the trailers, it goes a bit south right after that.
  20. I agree, while not completely with the concert scene statement, I try not to be so critical of it though because let's be honest, we can assume that Satelight is not working with the same kind of budget of other high profile theatrical releases, most of the stuff recycled was from the better animated episodes though, which makes sense, 1-2, 5, which looks quite good, some stuff wasn't, let's just say I'm not a fan of Ranka with a carrot on her head, but aside from this I think this movie can go toe-to-toe with some of the best stuff out there or surpass it, CG work, backgrounds, action choreography, it's all top notch, which is even more impressive considering it's coming from a smaller studio.
  21. Saw it yesterday, I dont understand japanese so this should be a pretty spoiler free post. From what I saw the movie looked very good, the backgrounds look amazing, CG was improved, looked like not only did they increase the poly count on the models but used more complicated lightning as well, choreography was strong, not just on the dog fights, but action sequences as well, I love how dynamic the camera is in certain sequences, only problem I have with the dog fights is the Valks posing for the camera, does it look cool? yes, but it feels forced IMO, you see them shooting, but you dont see what they're shooting at, feels out of context, only thing I'd say is a low point is inconsistency with character animation, it's nowhere near as bad as it got with the TV show, but it's still there, especially if you put them right up against incredibly detailed backgrounds, which I really cant say enough good things about, they look that good. Obelisk was a really poor choice for the battle sequence at the end IMO, it would have been better if it switched places in the movie with Universal Bunny. As far as the editing, someone said it wasnt as good as the TV show, I agree, I think they pulled off a much better job with EP25, than they did with the third act of the movie, considering the amount of music EP25 had. Overall I was pleasantly surprised, I had read a few coments from people that got to see it in Japan, and the movie turned out to be better than expected, I cant wait to see what they do with the sequel.
  22. I don't understand Japanese, does it say that the game in the bundle is the full game? or just a demo? going by the name could be the latter, confirmation would be nice, thanks.
  23. This is the first time I came across this interview, if it has been posted before I apologize. http://www.theanimenetwork.com/myblog/153-A-word-with-Ichiro-Itano-part-2 The first part of the interview is about his work on Gantz, and some other things, what I posted here is Macross related, I get a kick out of all the technical production details that go into making the series, so this was quite interesting to me.
  24. New Macross game in the works? http://www.siliconera.com/2010/05/11/new-macross-game-in-the-pipeline/
