  1. Maybe you're standing in the wrong place, I'm going to say this again, the people posting screenshots, and "going crazy" ignored the post to begin with, they dismissed as not needed and kept on doing what they were doing BEFORE, yet according to you, that post is the root of all evil, give me a break.
  2. What are you talking about? The whole thing got out of hand WAY before the request was posted, and there have been MAYBE 3-4 replys to it since, I'm sorry but trying to say that the discussion got worse because of the request is pretty ridiculous. The people doing what you say completely ignored the post to begin with, this whole message is making a mountain out of anthill, not the request. Talk about exaggerating.
  3. Does anyone know the type of mastering Satelight is using on Frontier? I have been wondering this since Bandai dropped the ball on the Blu-Ray release of Yukikaze, they used an upconverted version of the 480p source, I dont know the exact details behind this, like if this was the way the show was mastered to begin with, giving Bandai no other choice but to release what they had, or was it just them being lazy and using material that was ready for production. Thinking about this made me wonder about Frontier's Blu-Ray releases and the way the show it's been mastered in general, I'd apreciate any info regarding this, thanx. http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/1358/yukikaze.html
  4. They are boosting the contrast for some reason, I have also noticed the darkness, and honestly I dont know why they are doing that, their video compression looks to be the best, there's really no need for messing around with the contrast. On a side note, IMO the only thing that keeps the Shinsen releases from being perfect is the somewhat weak picture quality.
  5. I couldn't have said it better myself, I agree with you 100% but it looks like little by little the discussion is focusing more on the people discussing it, rather than the actual topic, in other words, it's getting somewhat personal, I'd hate to see a topic worth discussing go down the drain due to this, passing judgement on people and naming-calling due to difference of opinion is un-called for, and should really be avoided in order to keep the discussion civil.
  6. To the Mods: I'd like to put in a request (I dont even know if that's allowed but here it goes anyway ) Can we have a dedicated thread to discuss the animation portion of Frontier, whether if it's CGI, 2D etc? There seems to be enough interest in the topic, and honestly I think we can kill 2 birds with the same stone: 1- The Episode threads wont get cluttered with the discussion. 2- The people that are getting annoyed or getting turned off by this topic can ignore it altogether. Let us know if it's possible, Thanks!
  7. I was putting together something similar duing the past 2 weeks, but after people started getting sensitive on the subject I dropped it
  8. Yeah, Shinsen subs are excellent on both presentation and accuracy, I might end up using those just because of that, AiA video does look better, but too dark IMO, I haven't checked out EP 5 and 6 of AiA though, hopefully they didnt mess around with the transfer.
  9. Question to the guys that download all of the different releases: Which do you think gives the best balance between accuracy, presentation, and video quality? I'm putting a DVD together for personal use, I encoded it twice over the weekend, one time with Shinsen, which presentation and accuracy I liked very much, but it's a little weak on video quality, and one time with AiA, which is also pretty good, not quite as good as Shinsen in IMO, better picture quality though, but it looks like they have manipulated the contrast changing the way the video looks from the original release, I didnt like that too much, plus looks like the encoder I use didn't like mp4, noticed some mild stuttering on video playback. I could always re-encode third party subs into the raws, but honestly some of these groups' presentations is so good that I rather keep those in the video, thanks in advance.
  10. Where did the complaints come from? the fanbase or was it more of a unanimous opinion of critics/reviewers? Just curious as to what kind of impact a request from the fanbase can have on the actual release of the DVD's, if this is something the fans are willing to pursue, now would be a good time to let them know our concerns, before the discs go into production, we have to keep in mind, that the first volume comes out late July, which is literally around the corner. If the fanbase had nothing to do with it, then we'll just have to wait, and see what happens. As for the episode itself, I thought it was pretty good, overall, I might have liked episode 5 a little better, but the closing sequence was really powerful, they did an amazing job with the editing there, can't wait for episode 7 though, it's going to be pretty epic.
  11. I'm with you here, and I'll go and say that they'll switch the trend again and the one that ends up dying would be Mikhail instead of Luca, when? who knows, but I have my doubts about the production letting the the youngest-looking of all the pilots eat it before the older ones, on top of that, they have been giving enough homages to the other series but at the same time keeping it different: Ranka joins Miss Macross, but loses. SDFM color designations, but blue ins't the Ace. I know there's have to be quite a few more, but can't recall right now, so based on this I dont see Kakizakis color taking a hit again.
  12. Alright, I'll go with that, since I never really heard it thru TV speakers, hopefully they'll remix it for the Blu-Ray release so that everyone gets a fair release.
  13. Gimme me a break. http://hddvd.highdefdigest.com/1110/transformers.html http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/30988/transformers/ http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htf/dvd-re...ecommended.html http://www.tvpredictions.com/2007/10/hd-dv...ansformers.html http://www.e-gear.com/story/story.bsp?sid=...story&32482 http://www.dvdauthority.com/reviews.asp?reviewID=5366 http://www.audioholics.com/reviews/softwar...sformers-hd-dvd http://www.hometheaterspot.com/fusionbb/sh...php?tid/139003/
  14. That's true some people had that problem, but not everyone, I had no problem with mine really.
  15. Question, which shows would these be? just curious. One thing to keep in mind is budget, I seriously doubt any of these shows had to balance intricate CGI work and Cell animation like Frontier does, Satelight is doing pulling off a very good juggling act between the two, and of course that comes at a price. I've had my problems with some of the cell stuff in previous episodes, I can understand where those problems come from, but I still think Frontier's production values are top notch, specially for a TV series, I'd like someone to point out which show looks to have higher production values than Frontier, not just the cell, but the whole package, including CGI work, animation and music. I know I don't watch as much anime as other people here, so I'd like to know what I've been missing out on.
  16. I agree, if you check my previous posts I have been very vocal about some of the inconsistency of the quality regarding the cell animation in episodes post 1 and 2, with number 4 being the most obvious, but episode 5 went back to being just as good if not better than both EP1 and EP2. I don't really see any merit in complaining about the animation in EP5, if anything, it has brought the series back to the same high standard it started out with.

  18. You shouldn't have any problems at all, I have a 60" 1080p and my viewing distance is 7-8 ft, without any problems, SD sources are a whole other issue though, but HD sources should be fine.
  19. Transformers HD DVD was demo material for both sound and video, I dont know what you're talking about.
  20. Another excellent episode, the fact that the whole thing looked completely gorgeous doesnt hurt either, the attention to detail in every aspect of the animation was top notch, the backgrounds were jaw dropping. Comes to show that when Sateligh is at the top of their game, there's very little out there that can be compared to MacF in terms of production value.
