  1. The price changes were pretty obvious, especially if you have been keeping track of prices and sales like I have, for example black hawk down was 14.95 before the buy 2 get 1 free, the sale goes up, black hawk down is part of the list of selected titles and the price went up to 19.95, the sale is over, it went back down to 14.95, multiple titles saw this type of change during this "sale" it was a rip off, not only that the selection was pretty bad compared to earlier bogos. Dude, you need to get over the fact that the war is over, no one here is discussing HD DVD as a format, or HD DVD loyalists, or how much more BD sold than HD DVD, the point we're trying to make was that the competition between the 2 favored the consumer when it came to prices, deals, w/e you want to call it. BOGOS run pretty much NON-STOP throughout the whole last year of the war, whether it was a holyday season or not, summer, winter, spring, it didnt matter, I guess it's just a coincidence that they dissapeared once the war was won.
  2. Give me a break, everyone knows the current sales are a joke, the sales are no where near as good as they were before the war ended, they raised the price on an average of $5 per movie for this "sale" and it was a buy 2 get 1 free, sale not a real BOGO. So I guess that makes your facts wrong too? I sure hope they keep coming, or at least the good ones come back, a lot of people have been waiting for a real sale since January.
  3. I go to electronic stores, including Best Buy etc every other week, and the cheapest player they have is the entry level Sony for $399.00. which was as low as $299.00 before the war ended, the article linked proves that prices have RAISED on CURRENT models since the war ended, no one is discussing since inception prices, ALL electronics drop in prices after a year of release so that point is moot. I HAVE seen the price increases, people don't just make these things up. There were multiple buy one get one free sales on Blu-Ray, and by multiple, I mean non-stop for the last year of the format war, people were getting anywhere from $10-$15 movies a pop, war ends, no more bogos. No one here is defending HD DVD prices or players, or whatever else you still have against the dead format, we're defending the fact that the format war actually helped the consumer, there's no denying that it did.
  4. Here you go, and by the way this is not the only place where this has been discussed, it just happens it's the first link I found. http://www.movieweb.com/dvd/news/95/27095.php Please show me where to get those players you're referring to, I know there's cheaper players coming out later in the year, but currently, the entry-level players are over $350.00 easly, only way you can get them cheaper is online, depending on models, sales, and even then you're not getting a full-featured player. I agree with eugimon, I dont understand why you're trying to spin this, it doesn't make any sense. PS: I wont bother linking all of articles, here's a link to a google search: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=b...yer+prices+rise
  5. Awesome news! I wonder how many of this pre-orders are from over seas.
  6. I'm calm, the problem I see here is that this is turning into discussing the posters attitudes (?), instead of the actual topic, for example, mentioning that people are being anal because they see something in a different way than someone else. Disagreeing is fine, why turn the focus of the discussion into the people instead of the actual topic being discussed? I could go out my way and call people fanboys for not acknowledging some of the incosistency of the cell animation, but that wouldnt be fair, and out of context, but it would be the same thing as making a comment about people being anal. IMO we're here to discuss Macross, not each other.
  7. There's absolutely no need for name calling, or even get personal, whether that was aimed at me or not, it doesn't matter, attack the post, not the poster.
  8. It doesn't spoil the fun for me at all, it doesnt make me like the series less because of it, but that doesn't change the fact that it's there. Pointing something out isn't tearing it apart, tearing it apart would be trashing the show without any merit, and we're definetly not doing that, I think everyone is entitled to their opinion, judging people based on difference of opinion is kind of pointless.
  9. I agree, and I'm not even comparing MF to other anime, I'm comparing it to itself, I would add to the list above that some shots lack detail, and seem rushed, while others look amazing. I don't think it's a big deal, but there's no reason not to acknowledge it.
  10. QFT Honestly, Frontier is the whole package, another thing that can't be left unsaid is the amazing job Kanno is doing with the music, I've been actually blown away by every single track, I'd go as far as saying some of the themes are comparable to ones you'd hear on big-budget Hollywood movies. I really hope they use the new version of DYRL later in the series.
  11. It's not really about being anal, but being able to acknowledge the trend, IMO ep4 had the biggest decline so far, I hope it doesn't get lower than this. You are right though, and I couldnt agree more with you about MacF having OVA quality, especially when it comes to the set pieces.
  12. I've also been a bit disappointed in the drop in quality of the hand-drawn elements mainly, every other area is still top-notch in my book, it's pretty obvious too see which sections were farmed out to other houses, assuming everything that Satelight is handling themselves looks as good as the CGI. Some shots look amazing, while others really lack detail, consistency seems to be a problem, but then again, I'm just nit picking, we still have to keep in mind that it's a TV series, not an OVA. I still hope they up it up a notch on the hand-drawn stuff
  13. Even though I really like the action, I still don't think it's in the same league as Itano's work on Mac0, but the series is still very early on, and our main pilot is still learning, so hopefully it'll get there by the time it's over
  14. The Kawamori interview would be nice too
  15. MacF on ANN http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2008-...s-posted-online
  16. Raws I've seen, do look to be upconverted from a lower resolution than downconverted from a higher res source. I'm one of the early adopters that got the new players as soon as they came out, I'm pretty familiar with how upconverted video looks compared to actual HD material, and so far the Raws I've gotten look upconverted, but like I said before, I have yet to see either of the 1080p raws, In other threads people were claiming that the Gattai releases had better PQ than AiA, they really don't, you can clearly see the video had been upconverted, either way I like Gattai's presentation better. And yes, 720p is considered an HD rez, I was not the one arguing that
  17. I read on a thread by AiA that there's no real HD RAW and that all of the ones being posted have been upconverted, so I compared all of the ones I've downloaded to the SD versions out there and they do in fact look blown up, so far, to my eyes, the Q-R raws have the best PQ, so I will use those to make the first 4 episode DVD of MacF with Gattai *.ass files. On the other hand, I have yet to come across a 1980 raw, so I wouldn't know how those look.
  18. Another amazing episode, SK and co, are acing this one so far!
  19. They're are still milking in the profits of the movie, supossedly the series is in production, but who cares lol. And no, I meant the Japanese release of Frontier, since obviously we won't be getting a US release until they settle the rights issue, we could hope (ask, beg) for a english sub, so that fans can at least import the discs. http://macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?s=&a...st&p=579702
  20. Great for Robotech fans I guess, but I thought shadow chronicles was a POS, if we could only get macross stuff released in the US, this type of thing wouldnt piss me this much, farting HG. http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/show/FUN..._September/1670 As a side note, Bandai, due to "fan demand" is releasing Gurren Lagann, subbed in the US, wouldnt it be a good time to push for a subbed release of MacF? If not a US release, maybe english subs on the scheduled Japanese release, as fan service maybe? Throw us a freaking bone http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/convention...i-entertainment
  21. Yukikaze, Some of the Animatrix shorts like The Second Renaissance to some degree. Most of the time cel-shading is used for either mechs and environments, which I have no problems with, I still like hand-drawn (humanoid) characters, unless of course they have the budget to do something like Ex-Machina, which is really not viable for a TV show.
  22. "Dear Mario: Please come to the castle, I've baked a cake for you" Anywho, awesome episode, I'm very impressed by the soundtrack, all the songs and BGM's are top notch, looking forward to the next episode.
