The improved VF-27 looks great. I wish they did sell the 27 standalone, because I'd get a second one then. I don't need two sets of FAST packs.

Dream on, man, dream on. Yamato went belly-up for a reason. And the YF-19 is a poor example since even the 1/60 version is a piece of crap. But you're right. It's not about collecting to the end. But for some of us, we'd rather spend that money on new horizons instead of retreading old ground. I've moved on to other things now that Yamato is gone. /preorders an Iron Man Mark 42

And I say again: what could they possibly do in 1/72 that they haven't already done in 1/60 that would justify the huge cash layout for new valks? I and others aren't going to drop that kind of money on something we already have, just in a slightly smaller scale. The V2 VF-1 is a near perfect toy, unlike the old V1s or the atrocious Bandai V1 VF-25s. Now if they want to capture a new audience or provide valks for peeps who missed the boat on the previous releases, that's cool. But for those of us who have more or less completed our collections, there's not much incentive to spend that kind of money again.

The problem with your logic is that you assume I bought all that crap. I skipped the V1 VF-1s and I skipped all the Bandai VF-25s before the renewals.

I had no problem with Yamato moving from 1/48 scale since I was not heavily invested in it, and any valks besides the VF-1 would have been gigantic. Going from 1/60 to 1/72 is another story. I'm not re-buying all my valks in 1/72 scale. I already own (almost) all the valks I ever wanted, and I'm not starting all over again with Macross. They'll probably cost almost as much as 1/60, and while I don't doubt they could make PT in 1/72, what could they possibly offer that the 1/60 scale doesn't that would make me want to buy them again? Not all of us have the kind of wealth where we can drop thousands of dollars into more toys without a second thought.

These prices are... staggering. Hard to believe that not long ago we were able to buy all this stuff at a fraction of what they're selling for now. I got the SDF-1 and VF-4 at good prices, but I regret never getting a VF-11C during one of the many past sales. Now I'll never have one because I'm not paying $400+ for any valkyrie.

The blue 171 looks great and only irks me further that HLJ takes so damn long to ship out anything. Nothing like paying for Fedex just so HLJ can sit on the package for a week before shipping it out. I feel like Bart Simpson when he joined the Junior Campers. "Everywhere I look I see people enjoying knives!"

Now that's high praise! I wish I had started sooner. It's fun and I enjoy seeing the fruits of my labor. -
Yamato couldn't stay in business on sales with just one scale, so why would they release each unit in multiple scales? I'm not going to buy each VF-1 variant in 1/72, 1/60, and 1/48, not with how much they cost each. And I'm definitely not going to do that for any of the less popular characters. Who wants that many Kakizakis?

They both look amazing. I think I may have to detail my 171 next... (kinda makes me wish I didn't super glue the wing pins on now) Gerwalk and fighter pics of the VF-1S now that I've fixed the damaged decal. For future projects I'll have to use the Yamato stickers for parts that are likely to get scraped during transformation. -

With Yamato's closure, I guess we'll never see the day when we get a perfect transformation VF-11 MAXL.

Thanks! I wouldn't have done so well if not for all the tips from you, wm cheng, and a few others. Incredibly helpful! Thanks! I used the Tamiya weathering kits, which I've had in my drawer for ages but never got around to trying till a few days ago. They come in a variety of colors, but set B is good for starters. Each kit should last through many valkyries. http://www.hlj.com/scripts/hljlist?SeriesID=2016 -

Decided to spruce the old VF-1S with some decals and weathering. Fighter pics will have to wait till I fix one of the nose decals that got shredded while posing in battroid mode. -
I hope those are just bad photos and the final product isn't that green.

Can anyone tell if these are V1 or V2 armor parts for VF-1? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Yamato-1-60-Macross-ARMOR-PARTS-for-VF-1-VALKYRIE-Robotech-perfect-trance-/121101114693?pt=US_Action_Figures&hash=item1c32305d45

MacrossJunkie, that 19F is beautiful. You make even the Yamato stickers look good. But don't you have issues with the weathering rubbing off without any kind of clear coating? -
They were pretty easy to get when they came out. I don't think anyone was in any rush to buy any Bandai Macross products at the time, though, especially coming on the heels of the awful V1 VF-25 line.

TV and movie Kakizakis sold out at HLJ. We've reached the end of the road, kids.
-
Ranka is one of the only characters I actually liked. Sheryl is just another boring tsundere character. She at least gets some development, but not until more than halfway through the series. Lucas is just a tool. He should've been a Kakizaki-style death.
-
I could use another movie Roy so I can display one with and one without strike packs. I'm not paying the $200+ they're going for on ebay.
-
I thought DYRL was a pretty boring movie, but that didn't stop me from getting my grubby paws on an SDF-1. And I like the movie valk colors more than the TV series.

I have a few Yamato toys from various Hong Kong shops, and I've not seen any differences between them and the ones I've bought from Japanese shops. All my Bandai units were purchases from Japanese retailers, so I can't comment on those.

I wanted the special edition for the pistol, but my Shepard has red hair, so I got the regular edition... You can change the base between paragon and renegade symbols, which is a nice addition. My renegade Shepard looks like me.
