I may be wrong, but I don't think FedEx Ground has those yet. FedEx Ground is not the same company as FedEx Express. FedEx bought Roadway Package Systems and didn't change much. Those drivers are independent contractors that own the trucks. Last time I checked at least. I don't use FedEx. They're horrible.

My company ships out thousands of packages a year. I've been down this road and ones like it many, many times. One of three things happened: -The FedEx driver left it on the porch (signed for it himself) and it was stolen. -The driver came up short on that package and signed as if it was delivered. -It was delivered to the wrong place and someone signed for it. Most of the time it's the last one. And people rarely go out of their way to get your package to you because most people suck. It doesn't matter which thing happened, they all rest on FedEx's shoulders. The problem is you don't have any recourse. FedEx will say it's delivered. Bluefin did what they were supposed to do. Your credit card company will be provided a signature from FedEx so your credit card company won't do anything for you. There is the argument that Bluefin is responsible for FedEx because they "hired" FedEx to deliver your package. It's an argument, but a weak one because it could also be argued that you both hired FedEx to deliver that package. I've run into this a few times over the years. In most cases as long as the customer doesn't get abusive and stays reasonable I will send them a replacement at a lower price. What that price is depends on a lot of factors. I can't suggest to you how I would do it if I was Bluefin because I don't know how their business operates, their margins, their stocking levels, etc. Good luck Get yourself a camera for your front porch.

I needed the room in one of my Detolfs so these guys got "promoted" to the big cab. Just kind of chucked them in there for now. I need to do something to tidy this traffic jam up.

It would be no different than it is now. Bandai doesn't have to go direct. They can still go through retailers or proxies. The solution to this is in your post below.

The Mandalorian - Star Wars webseries from Jon Favreau
sqidd replied to SMS007's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
You know he was STOKED being able to do that. I thought it was funny that he really didn't have to act. He just did what Bill Burr would have done in that same situation. And it came off great. His humor is spot on for that role. Derived a little bit from anger with heavy sarcasm. Perfect. If you can't tell, I'm a huge BB fan.- 1438 replies

That's a LOT of bodywork! And those seeping lines are a lot more work (work I'm no expert in). I did a bike for Jordan a long time ago. Lots of sweepy bodywork. Ended up going to a composites design firm that scanned the entire motorcycle into CAD. The bodywork was then re-shaped in CAD then the company made it to spec out of carbon fiber. That was Jordan money making that happen. I don't have that sort of budget. The Cyclone's bodywork is actually pretty easy to pull off by hand. And there isn't much of it.

Thanks for the link. My Google-Fu must have been off last night. I couldn't find that. I ordered one. Pretty small risk. I guess I'll see how it stacks up in real life soon. What does "OS" stand for? Thanks!- 9275 replies

If they did a Skunkworks thing they could increase their margin while still not having to worry about shelf warmers. Th Skunkworks thing could eliminate scalping almost 100%. If they eliminate scalping they can raise the MSRP and we would all still buy them. Most of us would end up paying less in the long run. Not trying to argue. I like thought experiments like this.

I could make a fully operational motorcycle that 95% perfect without straining too much brain power or creativity. I've done more than a few custom motorcycles. I've done all my screwing up/learning already. I'd even do the bodywork out of carbon fiber. Yes, I have put some thought into this before now. I'm thinking 400-425lb sans fuel and about 150-160hp. It could stop and turn at the same level as a mid 2000's Superbike. It will not transform into armor though. All it takes is time and money. Unfortunately I won't have the time for 8-10yrs (when I'm hopefully retiring). It's one of the projects percolating in the brain pan. I also want to do a 60's Ford F-100 "Steam Punk" build too. Modern drivetrain, modern chassis, A/C, cruise control, well sorted comfy suspension and 800 or so rear wheel horsepower. With the reliability to drive across the country if I wanted to.

I agree with all of that. It's actually right out of the Honda Powersports dealer relations model. It's actually a good model. It would be interesting to see them do a test case for something very niche (Destroids for example) and take deposits on the run. If a certain threshold isn't met, they don't do the run. They get to guarantee that they don't have shelf warmers. They get to fill niche markets. And if the threshold isn't met they can put the onus back on the customer base for not stepping up. Which may in turn spur the customer base to take that sort of thing more seriously. Of course nothing is that simple. There are probably a hundred second order problems that would arise and need to be solved. A fun thought experiment though. Work great for me. Admittedly that's apples and oranges though. Just thought of this while typing. How about a Bandai puts a "Skunk Works" department together that operates just like above. You guys want 1/30 scale VF-1S's? Well, let's see how many people will commit to the $1000 price tag for example? You guys want Tomohawk HMR's? Well, if we get 10,000 deposits (made up number), we'll make them.

I just pulled mine out of the cab and 95% re created it. Mine is on a YetiStand "coming in for a landing" so the feet are at a different angle. Looks better than what I had! Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and all that.

Yeah, I don't think that pin can be removed without wrecking some stuff. Off the top of my head I would go after completely removing the pin with a drill or a mill cutter. Depends on how hard it is to jig the figure (or at least part of it) up. If I could jig it up it would be a piece of cake to erase that pin with a mill cutter. Creating a new fastener or even finding one to replace it is easy peasy. The offending broken/breaking clasp/swivel mechanism wouldn't be difficult to make out of aluminum (it would be nice to have something not bling-y though) in the sense that making a CAD file would be cake. It would require a lot of machine operations though (that means more time and time = money). I'd have to get deep into it to see how things really shook out. It's also not that expensive anymore to 3D print aluminum. Especially stuff that small. That would be something I can look into. I want to have that technology in my back pocket at some point anyway.

THAT is a great shot! All the angles are perfect!

If someone has a broken one that they are willing to take a risk with I could get it apart and try to come up with a fix. I can't guarantee anything of course. But I can machine out of just about any metal and I have a sub contractor that can 3D print for me. Well, I guess I can guarantee I can create a fix. I can't guarantee I can create a affordable fix. Heck, I could re-create the entire thing in 1/2 scale made entirely out of metal for enough money.

I would love to know the parts that make up these decisions. Is it demand (or lack of)? Is that demand judgement accurate? Is it that they have "X" amount of production capacity and only put it toward higher margin units? Is it something political in the company? All of the above? My company produces niche product that for the most part is high end. The perceptions of the customer base rarely line up with the realities of what is profitable to produce. I get lots of requests for things I could design and put in production easily. But when it's time to put their chips down the customer base rarely comes up with enough of them. I'm currently getting "pounded" loudly by a small group of about 30 people who want me to produce something. The problem is for me to set aside other more profitable projects to produce that thing I need about 65-70 buyers. It's not like I don't want to make the thing, I do. But I won't stay in business long producing things that don't cover their own cost of development and pay for my time. For my really low volume niche niche stuff I go about it a little differently than Bandai does though. And I think it's too bad that Bandai doesn't do more niche things based on the model I use. I produce an idea or prototype and present it to the customer base. I then take deposits from people who want them. If a certain threshold is met, I produce it. Maybe only that once. A few things have caught on and been repeated though. I wonder how many unit sales Bandai could pre-secure for the rest of the 31 line? How about more HMR Destroids?. How about a re-release of a few things? It would be interesting to see what would happen if they were presented with let's say 2500 pre confirmed orders before they even had to fire up a CAD program. Would they be more likely to produce it?
