You make a really good point. I'm going to really have to think about hat I want to do here. maybe both! I guess I'm going to need to put a list of the "small players" together too. I think I know of a guy who knows that sorts of thing. Thanks for the release dates on those three (I updated my post). About those release dates. Oooooooooo, I would have been steaming if I purchase 1/60 V1's and the 1/48's came out a year later!
-
So, this is what I have for a timeline. Ca you guys check my work? And I can't see to find when the Yamato 1/48 was released. I tried Anymoon and it's not there, or I'm stupid/blind. -1/55 Chunky Monkey - 1983 -1/60 Yamato V1 - 10/2001 -1/48 Yamato - 11/2002 -1/60 Yamato V2 - 6/2008 -1/60 Arcadia - 8/2013 -1/48 Bandai DX - 10/2018
-
This would be the V1 I'm looking for correct?
-
Ok, so maybe the Ver 1 would be a good addition. It will show a clear progression. Solid call.
-
Yamato v2 and Arcadia are effectively the same toy correct? From a visual standpoint can you easily tell the difference between a Yamato ver 1 & 2?
-
Yeah, I'm sticking with a VF-1 only display. I do like the VF-0 through VF-31 idea though. From a display sense I don't know if 1/100 will look right. The HM & HMR is spectacular though. They should be represented. I have multiples so that is easy to set up and see how it looks. I don't know of any others that deserve being put in there. The Toynami stuff for example. Granted, I've never had one in my hand. And we're they considered good at the time of release? I don't think they were.
-
So, I'm going to do an evolution of the VF-1S Roy display. Pic of what I'm talking about at the bottom. The question is what should I put in the display? It clearly can't be every one ever available in order of release date. One, there would be way too many to make it practical. And two, having the massively different swings in scale/size would look goofy. It need to be somewhere in the middle. This is what I have so far as what would be displayed: -1/55 Chunky Monkey -1/48 Yamato -1/60 Yamacadia -1/48 Bandai DX It could be a cool display with just the four. As far as I know those are the high points of the toy throughout the year. And that would fit on one shelf well. I may even have room to double each one up so there is a Battroid and Fighter mode of each one. But, I feel like four isn't enough.....maybe. What do you guys think? Can you put down the list of which ones you would do if you were doing the same display? Thanks!

How many Chunkies do you have now? -
So far everything has been easily had on release day. Sure, at a bit of a premium, but no more than AE or NY is selling them for right now. I got a Max and the 1S Higgy (x6) on release day. Got the Max for retail. Got the Higgy's for over retail, but not much. Certainly not enough for me to participate in PO bloodbaths. I'm pretty sure at this point I'm just going to wait until DX release days, pay the premium price and not have to worry about any PO stress/nonsense, when it's going to ship, etc. Plus, the I get to keep my money in my pocket the entire time and don't have to worry about CC or PP recourse expiration dates.

I'm very puritanical. Naked Valks trigger me. -
Wondering if anyone has disassembled the Strike Cannon for painting? I'm to the point there there are no more fasteners (even found the one under the pivot covers for the hinge). I can't figure out how to get the pivot/hinge apart. I pried on a few things but I'm afraid I'm going to break something. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Oh man, you're killing me! I can't find those packs ANYWHERE! It's just not as good with standard S&S Parts. -
It was floppy right out of the box. Yeah, I'm considering putting some work in on it. Thanks

If your field of expertise is not pushing mass production through the process you don't know enough for anything to be obvious to you. You're working off 100% assumption.
-
I'm not attempting to let them off the hook for anything. That is a good example. But things like canopy changes could be down to cost. Part shapes have a lot to do with production cost.
-
When talking about conspiracy theories it's always best to view them through the lens of "Don't attribute to conspiracy what you can attribute to greed or stupidity". When it comes to mass production it's always best to view them through the lens of "Don't attribute to laziness or lack of execution what you can attribute to cost". I've found with most products that the engineers want to do a something perfect. But they have to dial that back a whole bunch of notches when the bean counters enter the room. Then a couple of more when the marketing guys show up.

Was your current one floppy?

I've got the MB EVA's. I like them. But in a different way than the toon accurate ones. I'm coming to find as I'm getting to the end of my available display space that my priorities are morphing. It's not so much about the size of the collection, it's the quality (or quality to me). I'm falling out of love with the MB stuff because of the scale. They take up nearly the same shelf space as a 10-12" figure does without the impact of something bigger. My opinion of course. I may be jettisoning some MB stuff in the future. -

That would explain it. It looks new. But it's a flippin mess. The pose in that pic isn't too bad. Oh well. You win some you lose some. Good thing the shelf is too short for them to stand up. Then I would be really frustrated. THX -

I just got this. Who has one of these Medicom RAH EVA02's? Is yours a floppy mess? This thing is HORRIBLE. If I look at it sideways it crumbles. This is about the only pose I can do with it. The Unit 01 I have is fine/tight. This was supposed to be MISB but the seal was popped. I'm wondering if I got screwed. Or if they're all a mess. And the white armor/band around the abdomen isn't attached at all. Looks cool though . -

If I had the skills/time I would have painted the other one I have. The difference between them when next to each other is astounding. Do it!
