  1. Nothing can spare Alien Resurrection from the horrible, stupid, and fugly mistake that was the Newborn. I could have forgiven the whole clone bit, but that pushed the border of crappiness a little too far. Also: And how the #%#@ did Cole get to the door after being shot and falling in the water??!!
  2. I figured they were funnels since Kuruze was remembering Mwu's Mobius Zero, and saying if he could do it, then so could he. I don't think they ever said how those things were controlled yet, wether it be by AI, thought, or another set of manual controls. They look like funnels to me, so that's what I call them for now. They have displayed enough newtype traits as it is already anyway.
  3. I though it was 2 movies, too. It was initially one about 3 1/2 hour long movie, and they decided to split it in two, so more patrons were more likely to sit through it. That's what I think I read, at least. They also get the profit for 2 movies instead of one. Tarantino is rare to disappoint, so I'm looking forward to it.
  4. As for Alien 3, I could only guess that the queen layed an egg or 2 on the ship before she went after Newt in Aliens. There could have been a small time gap there. Not that I'm trying to justify Alien 3. It had it's moments, but overall was piss poor compared to it's predecessor.
  5. Power keeps flickering here, too. Thankfully my power supply has kept me from missing a beat during the brownouts so far.
  6. I just wish they would be up front about what is coming out for it. First they release the 1/100 HG kits, now all of a sudden they have an MG Aile Strike coming. Kind of a kick in the rear if you already bought either the HG or the Chogokin. And for the Strike, they keep releasing individual complete kits for each equipment package, making you buy the same suit multiple times. Even the chogokin did it, forcing you to swallow another strike gundam, in deactive color, and a Sky Grasper just to get the sword and launcher setup. I have only bought one seed item: and that was the Chogokin Aile Strike. If they release a MG or Chogokin Freedom I'll consider that as well. For some reason I just don't see myself buying any other Seed kits, even though I love the show. Maybe I modeled myself out after building all those UC mobile suits.
  7. I can't judge the providence yet, since I haven't seen episode 49. It has potential. Titans MK II-ish paint scheme it seems, and finally a new mobile suit with funnels. I'm curious to see how well it comes out. Interesting to note this one doesn't look like it has a phase shift either. They'll finish off some aspects of the story for 50, maybe finish this "one year war" in some fashion, but there will be a lot of plot threads that spill over into Seed 2. The producers did say in the beginning that they wanted Seed to be a new branching point for the franchise.
  8. This VF-1 transformation method is the straight official from the Design Works book. Could be since the VF-0 had such a longer fuselage, it needed to go the swingbar route to make the distance.
  9. You have to take anything Robotech, or video game based, with a grain of salt. There might be some tuning difference between the S and lower models, but I'd say at least for the VF-1 the different models are just for the identifying feature. Regular - Flight Leader - Squadron Leader - two-seater. The VF-1X's had new engines and equipment inside, some years down the line, to give the ones out on the frontier and such some extra longievety. I forgot what the B model or "Half-S" did for the design. I think it was a general uprade for the A model. Anyone remember the details for that, or am I remembering wierd things again?
  10. I am in Montgomery Village, MD. About a half hour from DC in Montgomery County. I am backing all my PC stuff up as we speak right now. Thank god I have a DVD-RW.

    It's official!!!

All my boxes are now in a storage unit with my other crap. Need to head there soon again, too. Have to put Roy's VF-1S and Fast Pack boxes away.
  12. They probably made the movie just to make it. Try to keep a semblance of a normal life. Therefore, cook up a few things for the Macross TV channel. Money probably wasn't a big factor at the time.
  13. Edit: It's pretty much assumed at this point that there are spoilers in this thread: You see Duel in the preview for 49 without the Full Armor taking aim at a Bridge. Wonder how much of a beating he'll take, to lose the armor. Also, what's up with Kira. Everyone else takes their proper goodbye kiss. He gives Laksu a peck on the cheek, leaving her like And while Azrael is a psycho, and I look forward to someone kicking him in the ass, he made one good point: They had to attack right away to try to keep Genesis from firing again. It's like leaving the Death Star in orbit wondering if they are going to fire or not. They didn't even know it's rate of fire. In that instance, you kind of have to dive in, repairs or not. Now, with the phase shift, how do you destroy something like that? Seems to me they will have to destroy Genesis form inside. Unless they can just destroy the mirror blocks that need to be swapped out. Without that, it won't work. Then there are still the nukes to deal with. It's nice to not be able to solidly predict how things will come out. That's how the whole show has been, and is one of the reasons I like it. They probably need the second series just to finish everything, though.
  14. I second Chuey's recommendations. Also, Wesley Snipes for Road Block. Jesse Ventura for Gung-ho. David Spade should be Cobra Commander.
  15. $120 after shipping is still a good deal. Save about 20 bucks average. Go for it if you can, before the clearance sale ends. Definately more money than when they put Hikaru on sale. Around 90 bucks they wanted for him. Needless to say that was my first 1/48. 100 bucks after shipping. Now that was a sale. Shame I got it before knowing about the 1S Hikaru, I might have waited anyway.

    VF-11B Fast Pack

The VF-11FP is not bad IMO. The legs have been fixed, the detail is good, overall I like it. My only slight annoyance is the left shoulder cover is kind of elevated in fighter mode, breaking the straight flow of the fighter. That's it. I like having at least one of each VF (1,4,11,17,etc), I might even get a second VF-11 FP if I find it cheap enough. Hikaru 1J-FP's seem to be scarcer now (?) so it might be an idea to consider getting that before the 11 since it is not going anywhere any time soon, if indeed you really want a Hikaru 1J in 1/60. Unless you would rather wait for the 1/48 1J, if that is even in your budget, and go ahead and get the 11 now.
  17. Max's heatshield should be blue though.
  18. What is this ... "veritech" thing? I don't know if you will be able to get any parts for the older M+ valks, or older VF-1's, from what Monkey-N was saying. The VF-11 FP's legs are quite stable so you might want to consider one of those. As for the Ostrich, there should be no problem getting parts for that at least.
  19. 3 seasons=3 dvd's Recommended viewing if you haven't seen it before.
  20. I saw that in Best Buy, too. Picked up animated Spawn 1 and 2, since I already have 3, and got Grumpier Old Men while I was at it. Very nice, cheap surprise.
  21. Maybe for the 30th or 35th anniversary they might release remodeled 1/60's again, this time designed to accomodate Fast Packs (sold separately of course), and with perfect transormation. Just my guess. As for current 1/60 fast pack kits, I think they are a dead idea. The leg holes weren't incorporated until the regular release CF, so they would either need to make separate kits (no way they would do that now, for the effort and cost involved they might as well re-release the valk, like they already did for Roy), or make one kit with a generic white leg and a big sticker sheet in order to accomodate all the DYRL colors. Something not many of us would like either, I'm sure. The backpack isn't really a complicated deal, the boosters could go on some kind of backpack adapter clip. It would be nice to put Fast Packs on my CF, but not really practical at this stage for the current 1/60's.
  22. I ended up marathoning it out the first time I saw it. I couldn't stop. I rewatched the last 2 a few days later so they would make sense. In Kuwait while I was still in the air force, I marathoned it in our trailer twice with the guys there. They requested the second viewing. Remains tied with Macross for my favorite anime series. One place that has the Eva box pretty cheap is DVD Planet.com, same for the movies. I recommend legit copies when they are actually available. If anything else the subs are much better than HK bootlegs, critical for complex shows like Eva. And the black box with the red highlights looks sweet. Eventually Right Stuf will do another ADV studio sale, and with the Got Anime discount you'll be able to get it for almost 40% off. Right now a Bandai studio sale is on. Catch up on your Gundam now if you can.
  23. Burn Up delibarately made fun of Eva-01 as a parody, like many other shows. At least it was tastefully done there. Marvel's ripoff wasn't even intended as a parody, just a straight up ripoff, from an artist who could't think up something creative. Next they'll chop up a Phycho Gundam or something.
