Indeed. My "must purchase the system" game is going to be Splinter Cell: Double Agent, which is due out in September.

Lynx says what I was trying to say. Not just the "megaversal hub" as you call it (which is pretty nifty all on its own) but the sheer amounts of background material for the rest of Rifts Earth (30+ additional books and still counting) is simply staggering. India, Africa, Japan, Canada , Germany, Russia, etc. all get their time in the limelight and they all get equally good treatment. However, I do admit that my favourite games are ones were I get to pull in characters from other games and let them loose in Rifts Earth. A VHT vs a UAR-1 is increadably good fun Their early stuff is like that, yeah. But look at their later books, especially their Seige On Tolkeen series. Holy Crap, that's not an RPG, that's a novel with some numbers thrown in. Rifts Canada and Free Quebec are almost entierly setting for at least the first half of the book. The newest game they put out, Splicers, is a great example of this new layout. The skills and OCCs and other rules are at the very end of the book.

You bring up some good points. As a one-off toy fest, Rifts ranks up there with Zombies!! and Destroy All Monsters!. But if you've got a GM who knows what to do and the group wants to ROLEplay instead of ROLLplay, then Rifts is the best game out there due to the sheer multitude of stories, ideas, and just plain nifty settings that you can mix and match with. Now that I think about it, Rifts is any kind of game you want it to be: fast-paced munchkin game, or deeply involving interpersonal game; it's your call.

Perhaps if Palladium tried to actually PLAYTEST their supplements before releasing them they wouldn't have the wrecked munchkin-fest that is RIFTS. 393750 Again, it's only some stuff. And some of Carella stuff is pretty good, like his Juicer Uprisings.
-
Where'd this come from? I own a number of games he's written, and there's nothing munchkin-ish about them. Have you ever read any of Carella's RIFTS stuff? Trust me, it's his books that gave RIFTS the stigmata of being a toy-game. In later releases, there are rules that suggest how to modify his stuff to bring it more in-line with the rest of the game.

This trailer did nothing positive for me. It just doesn't look enjoyable to me.

It would appear he's taken that music down already. -

As much as they have to in UN Spacy, it would seem. Although to be honest, one of those was an Invid Princess, and the other a music star. We all know about the over-sexification of the music industry already. -
Heh, that's what happened to me and Knights of the Old Republic. I ditched my PS2 for it and haven't looked back since I discovered the joy of Halo.

For the ultimate in Alpha Fighter goodness, one needs to look no farther than Starship Modeller's website. Here's a tease:

FN advertises the 30-round magazine, not mentioning that the 50-round magazine will fit the PS90 and has been doing brisk sales in advance of the release of said PS90. There are also after-market kits to convert that 30 into a 50. -
While I was going to BCIT in Burnaby, the Canadian Geese would take over the back lawns during autumn and spring. Unfortunatly, that was the only direct route to get into the building without going alllll the way around to the front of the campus. They seemed to take offense at some hairless monkees wandering through "their" grass and seemed to take even more delight in pestering us. I swear that one of them was so mean it had a beak ring

Ever since I discovered Splinter Cell, I lost all enjoyment from MGS.

Or that's just his black costume and not the symbiote. I'm hoping they'll introduce Brock and the suit this movie, and then have Venom as the main baddie in Spider-Man #4.

I've got a few problems with the Joe comics. First off, just how utterly absurd they became. Started off as a simple war story and became sci-fi very quickly; not good. Secondly, Snake Eyes. Most popular character (and my favourite) and they turned him from a very good commando into a super-secret ninja with awesome preturnatural abilities; also not good. Thirdly, as a direct relation to secondly, they took that ninja storyline and just ran it into the ground, then stomped on its grave for good measure.

I like the proportions of the MPC Battloid better. 385590 No denying that. It looks stockier and just plain meaner than the slender super-posable.
-
Pfft. Swans have nothing compared to Canadian Geese. Those are some mean birds.
-
Same scale, but more along the lines of what it should look like in Battloid mode without having to care about how the other modes look or how to transform into them.
-
I remember that. Great stuff, until it dawned on me just who would become the new leader ... 385289 Whacking Prime and the others so early on was a bit of a shock (and still is). It's not often that a franchise movie starts off like that.
-
Little nitpick here. The phrase is "I could NOT care less."

Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs DVD
CoryHolmes replied to ComicKaze's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I remember waking up early Sunday morning to watch the first episode of Sabre Rider, to see if it was any good. I started taping them all thereafter, but they never repeated that series premier and I only ever saw it that one time. Now that I'm reading more about the series, I'm not too unhappy that in the changes they made to the show, the new creators made it more of a team show instead of all Fireball. -
More Shadow Force news

That happend with DYRL and I hated every second of it. I simply don't like super-condensed shows like that and would not like to see that happen to Robotech. -
This is the best "Valkyrie" game behind the Macross title on the PS2. The VF-X series could only dream of being half as good as BattleCry... 383698 *nods* It was a great game the first time through, but I tried replaying it and all the faults show through. It's just not really that fun anymore, with the possible exception of VS mode(I don't know anyone that wants to play with me, so that goes unused). I loved Battlecry, from start to finish. It might have a few problems technically with it (low ceiling heights, no air-to-ground stages, etc.) but it got the style and feel of the show spot-on. I too was wary of the cell-shading, until I saw the first few trailers. After that cautious optimisim came the desire to own the game. Picking it up from my reservation as soon as I could, I came home, plugged it in to my machine... and forgot all about playing the game as I sat there, bopping along to the remixed starting theme for the next ten minutes. I haven't played it since I sold my PS2, but I keep an eye out on my Xbox and occasionally think winsomly of getting it again. The special features for the game (cast and crew interviews) were a real treat to me, and the medal system was an alright gimmick for replay value. I used to play versus mode with my brother all the time, and our battles usually went a little something like this: Start game. Launch all missles! Run like a coward when the other guy doesn't die! Repeat as needed, then start again

Well, the manga has to finish its run before that can happen...

You haven't said anything that I disagree with. I just think it'd be nifty to shoot the P90, just for fun. Besides, I really like the transparent, top-loading magazine. Very original and effective. And... uh... and... uh... *trails off, looking at the FS2000* I'm sorry, what were we talking about?
