  1. The show itself was pretty bad, but the premise was decent enough. It explored the ideas behind the Vampires as presented in the movie; having a society all their own in the form of clans, different social levels, etc. that were mentioned but never extrapolated on. The acting was acceptable given that it's a Spike show with the exception of Blade. Kirk Jones just didn't have the smooth motion that Wesley Snipes has, nor did he have the look that Snipes established. As said earlier, he really did look like a ComicCon cosplayer.
  2. Not to mention the very wide viewing angle. Every time I look at an LCD, the colours drop off when you're not looking at it more or less dead-on.
  3. The best way to phrase it would be to say that I'm looking to get an HD set that is acceptable for gaming for the moment, but that I can add Blu-Ray/HD-DVD and other high-def programming in the future. Of all the displays on the showfloor, the Plasmas seem to be the best to my eye. I don't like the limited viewing angle of projection TVs and DLPs, and I think I can see the pixels on LCDs. To me, the plasma displays have the best colours and viewing angle.
  4. At least Microsoft is giving the option of buying all of that piecemeal, one at a time. That prevents heart-attacks due to the price of the whole package. As well, by using peripheral add-ons, Microsoft has given itself the option of producing a Blu-Ray drive should that win the format wars. ZOE 3? Sweet. The first two games are the only ones that I regret not being able to get for my Xbox.
  5. So just to double-check, the questions I should be asking are: a) does this unit support 1080p naturally or does it require up-conversion to get that? b) How many/what types of connections does it allow? c) Does it come with a defibrulator of its own for when I see the final price? As well, what's the number for figuring out the ideal distance from screen to viewer? I've found numbers on the internet calling for 2, 2.5, and 5 times the diagonal screen size in inches. Also, do HD TVs still come with those twist-on cable connections for regular SD cable TV? I've also read that newer plasma TVs have reduced the burn-in for static images greatly. Is this true, especially because this is destined to be a gaming TV more than anything else?
  6. What sorts of specs should I look for to make certain?
  7. Quick question to all you knowledgeable HD types. Does 1080p output really make that much of a difference when it comes to gaming? I'm looking at getting a new plasma TV primarily for my 360 and i'm debating whether or not the extra expense for a 1080p set over a 1080i set is really worth it.
  8. The colourscheme and hip struts aren't doing anything for me.
  9. You've just hit all the high-points that I use when pimping out the DOA series to newbies. However, it's just so much fun sometimes to mock the campiness of the series
  10. Oddly enough, I thought this show was boring, tepid, and almost unwatchable. Throughout the broadcast I found myself changing the channel to watch something else and not feel like I was missing anything important. The whole thing just struch me as meh and just didn't grow from there.
  11. But, but... who plays DOA for game value?
  12. Can they roll over and play dead, too? *shrug* Okay. Here, Ball! Come on, Ball!
  13. You can see all of this in Trials and Tribble-ations, the DS9 episode. The production team did a seamless job piecing the old in with the new.
  14. There is. It's called the 360.
  15. I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt this way. From this (admittadly early) trailer, it looks truely pathetic. I couldn't stomach Sin City and turned it off after 20 minutes, so the name "Frank Miller" doesn't do anything good for me.
  16. And yet, people hold it against the TF movie for doing just that. Odd...
  17. While these look pretty, I'm going to wait and see some demos in action before I sing the praises of the PS3. We all know how Sony likes to market their products.
  18. There's a HUD add-on for motorcycles, but that works by lowering an LCD window over one eye and projecting the image onto that.
  19. Last Wedensday, a man walked into a city college and opened fire with a semi-auto carbine. He killed one woman outright, eight more people are listed as in critical condition (two of them are touch-and-go), and a total of 19 were wounded to one degree or another. The police shot him in the arm, at which point the maniac then took his own life. In 1989, a man walked into Ecole Polytechnique with a shotgun and opened fire, killing 14 women and wounding 13 more. All targeted victims were women, whom the man blamed for keeping him out of that school by way of Affirmative Action. That last one is what brought about the modern era of (mostly) tight gun control in Canada.
  20. That still doesn't justify why that switch was made. That's one of the changes that really bugs me in the new set.
  21. You should see what it's like in Canada. And with the recent gun rampage in Montreal, it's probably going to get worse.
  22. I think Microsoft had the right idea when they made their 360 with current-gen DVD technology. They're going to be selling an HD-DVD plug-in drive in the near future so people can use that. If the HD-DVD thing tanks and Blu-Ray takes off, Microsoft can easily manufacture a Blu-Ray disc drive just as easily as an HD-DVD. Sony, on the other hand, is gambling quite heavily that Blu-Ray will win the format war. If it doesn't, then people aren't going to be buying it for that reason and Sony will lose out on a big chunk of their expected customers.
  23. Stick schmick. We did it keyboard-style all the way!
  24. Quick question for all you knowledgeable-type-personages. How are the HUDs on aircraft made?
  25. This reminds me a lot of the Centurion toys from the 80s.
