Unfortunately, the RahXephon movie completely changes the plot, but uses the same footage. So the movie feels kinda glued together. TV version is much better. My favourite Woo movie is the first A Better Tomorrow, it was Chow Yun Fat's break-out role. The 2nd movie is good although the plot is kinda absurd, but it does have several inadvertent moments of funny.

Wow, Seto is so EVIL. Those RT fans are just trying to live their lives in peace and you come in with your evil flying battle fortress powered by rationally and proper spelling and bombard them with reasoned arguments and facts. Then you fly back to your Skull island to your Maniac Association of Cantankerous Robotic Operatic Sooth Sayers or M.A.C.R.O.S.S. and laugh maniacally as the RT fanboys lament. I think we have the plot of the next robotech movie, Robotech: the Wrath of Seto!!!

I agree with Jeremy that people look way too deep into the religious symbols used in Eva. As for the format of the show, i like how DAPDX is more about goofy fun than serious in depth analysis (though sometime you do go that route, like with the Existenze episode) P.S. are you guys ever gonna cover RahXephon? Or do more John Woo movies?

Definitely a fan made video. Notice the top right of the screen some clips had a watermark and others didn't. I did like the song in the video though.

I just finished a crane thingy to hold my recently finished VF-1S super. Its about a foot tall with a swinging arm at the top with a claw to hold the valk. Made of all cardstock with some bamboo skewers to reinforce. It turned out too top heavy so i glued a bunch of pennies to the base to weigh it down. It'll look good in my future project hanger bay for my papercraft valks. If i can borrow a camera, i'll post some pics.

I've only seen the first one or two episodes of the OVA, and it didn't really excite me. But, based on your podcast, it looks like it gets better later on. I may check it out sometime.

Seems that the OP of the Densha Otoko TV show is a complete homage to the Daicon IV video. Same song, bunny girl sky surfing, trees sprouting over the entire earth.

I just finished a VF-1S super with full cockpit and pilot. I used plastic from a water bottle for the canopy, so it isn't perfect, but it looks good enough for me. I'm hoping to start the large scale SDF-1 Macross by Thunderchild soon. That should be a long fun build. Sorry can't post pics, no camera.

Macross Frontier You can get many opinions easily here, by looking at the old threads. Overall, i really liked it. Claymore Decent fantasy story, with a disappointing ending. Desert Punk Never seen it. Gungrave Good, mafia story about how a guy went from street thug to top hitman. Then theres some crazy zombie stuff Ah! My Goddess Good, if you're into shojou romance.

The line in general is way out of scale. My Saber is huge compared to my Revy and Dante is also smaller than he should be (unless a big muscular tough guy is supposed to be as tall as a little chinese tough girl)

Yeah, that annoyed the hell out of me when i saw that page. And here i was thinking that Roboteching was a verb for mashing unrelated show together, taking credit for all the work and bashing the original creators as much as possible.

I got mine (regular edition alto) from Big Bad Toy Store for 113+shipping which is the cheapest i could find new. You can probably get a used one for cheaper. Edit: i was just looking on BBTS for the VF-27 and it looks like they raised the price of the alto to $154, that sucks.

This Maverick guy needs a greatest hits collection of bullcrap. He must think that Uwe Boll movies get a bad reputation because people cant understand the deep philosophical meaning behind them. Funny that he made no attempt to explain what about RT:TSC is so deep and intellectual that we simple mortals couldn't understand.

I have a question. I heard on the AWO podcast that originally Macross had a different designer for the Valkyrie other than Kawamori. Anyone know about this or have any early design sketches from this other designer?

In my understanding, Global believed that if they are attacked again by the Zents, then there is a good chance humanity would be destroyed. Thus, spread humanity throughout space, so if earth is destroyed, there is still a much larger chance that humanity and culture could live on. In all likeliness, if another Zent fleet (around 5 million ships) attack earth and a Minmei-like strategy doesn't work, without a doubt the earth would be wiped out. No matter how much money is diverted from the colonization program, earth wouldn't be able to compare to a fleet of 5 million (or more) ships. And if a Minmei attack works, then why waste money on defense when they could be spreading humanity throughout the galaxy. Personally i'm glad that the Macross sequels weren't about just the Earth. We were able to see new places and events that are much more interesting that the RT thing of just continual invasions of earth.
