Actually, it looks very refreshing to see a true alien, one that is dramatically different to any lifeform we know of. I am always disappointed when Hollywood trots out a new creature design... they all looks so 'safe', so anthropomorphic. Could be fun. I've enjoyed Timur's work to date, we'll see how this one goes.

Indeed. Still, for what it is, it looks cool! I'm just glad it's going ahead.- 121 replies

I thought that a VF-11 would never be released, considering how the other aircraft from Macross Plus were released so long ago. So much for assumptions!
-
Not everyone can be a kickass Macross modeller...
-
To be honest, that looks quite awesome.
-
Unfortunately not. I think many of us are waiting for the super pack version.

I really liked 13 Assassins. It was a slow burn for the first half, but the second half was awesome! I think the fight choroegraphy could have been a little more inventive, but it was a 'realistic' movie rather than a stylising one. The Raid looks very interesting. I saw the previous MA movie from The Raid's director - Merantau. It was a bit rough, but quite interesting, and I had not been exposed to Indonesian life/culture before like this. Certainly the action scenes were quite amazing, I'm sure The Raid will be awesome.

Very nice! These should go well with something else I have been working on for some time... -
Battlestar Galactica Discussion IV with Blood And Chrome

I liked most of the new series, but the ending is certainly a part I didn't like. Kara's final moment really made me shake my head. For me the end of season 2 and beginning of 3 were the highlights. It was downhill from there.- 698 replies

Battlestar Galactica Discussion IV with Blood And Chrome
PetarB replied to 505thAirborne's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Here is a gratuitous image of a couple of my 1/72 models, just because I am happy to hear about some BSG news: I am a fan of both BSG incarnations, however watching the original recently was a cheesy experience. I think it would be great if the new one would capture some of the ebullience of the original though.- 698 replies

AKIRA LIVE ACTION MOVIE = Life Support?
PetarB replied to Macross007's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Taking Akira out of Tokyo seems like a crazy idea to me. But to be honest, I really liked 'Infernal Affairs' and I thought 'The Departed' was a crazy idea. But then I saw the remake and really enjoyed it. Akira seems like a different beast though. I predict the only thing they will keep is Kaneda's bike... -
Apropos. I heard it crashed...

It looks fantastic. I can think of some custom schemes already....

Real Steel (AKA 'Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots' the movie)
PetarB replied to electric indigo's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
It's done very well at the box office. I took two of my girls to see it (8&10) and they enjoyed it. It very cliched, but okay entertainment. -
The exciting part is a little further down the page. A Crusher Joe 'Fighter-1', with the little tank. I wonder what scale they are, they look a little small for 1/72... The Space Wolf doesn't look too shabby either! EDIT: apparently it's only a toy, at 1/100.
-
Looking at the price, it looks too good to be true. I wonder if it's legit. Stealing images is not a good start...
-
I've always liked his ship. What scale is that, roughly? I know Revell likes their 'box scale', to the detriment of us scale purists!
-
Exactly. But I don't like the changes to the end of ROTJ. Anyway, I just bought the box for I,II,III - I won't have time to watch them for a couple of weeks though, but I'm really looking forward to seeing the battle of Geonosis & above Coruscant in HD.
-
Well, the nice thing is - especially from models of this era - at least the assembled model looks like the illustration on the box. I remember opening several 80s kits and being immediately dissappointed by 'added wheels' or lost detail, or even wholesale changes to basic shapes!
-
What is that last one? Some very nice clean work on that VF-11.

Wow, I never saw that! There it is! All the way from Jupiter's orbit...

This is very disappointing. I've always liked this series. I'm getting more and more dissillusioned by recently released games. COD Black Ops felt like an on-rails shooter to me.
