  1. Ryou Ouki Some of my favorites: Petit Charat, Shiro Lhadatt, Yang Wen Li, Justy Ueki Tylor, Shibahime Tsubasa, Ayumu Kasuga, and Goto Kiichi.
  2. That's my thinking exactly. It looks to me like the 1/100 is going to be sold more of a toy than a collector's piece given it's size and material. They're going to want to sell these to a new audience, not to a bunch of old fogies hanging on to a 20+ year old TV show (though they won't complain if the old fogies buy them too, I'm sure). Collectors who are old enough to remember the original Macross are more likely to have the disposable income necessary to buy bigger, more expensive toys. If you want a wider appeal to a generally younger group, smaller and cheaper is the way to go.
  3. Is the front part of the gun's sight supposed to be clear as well? I notice that it's painted exactly the same as the canopy.
  4. Someone mind reposting the pictures here, please? I'm at work and I'm blocked from the link given above. Thanks.
  5. VT-1 and VE-1 were varients as well.
  6. It's on the first page. Basically, Graham knows why, but isn't allowed to say.
  7. Gee, I don't know... maybe because the Monster is an artillery piece that mostly just sits there and the 0 is a plane that you have to pick up and fly around to play with?
  8. I saw the tailers. Am I right in assuming the title is a Ray Bradbury reference?
  9. I thought the 0 uses a swingbar system for it's legs. Why would they need to detach?
  10. 1/100 doesn't bother me. 1/72 or 1/60 would have been good, but not enough to bitch about this early in the game. 1/48 would be too big to play with, I think. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing more of it before I make a decision one way or the other.
  11. Region free decks are easy to come by. The problem I had last year when I was replacing my old machine was finding something that had Macrovision disabled.
  12. Eh. The movie is likely to lose the part of Eva I liked the most: the fact that it's a parody of 70's robot shows. The best thing they could do would be to use actors in suits for the Evas. So much of the show was an obvious Ultraman reference, that it would be the ultimate nod of the head.
  13. Couple of comments here. Accusing Sukeban Deka of being derivative is doing it a great disservice. In actuality, it's the other way around. Sukeban Deka (the manga this anime is based on anyway) is one of the earlier examples of the genre and predates most of what you accuse it of being derivative of. One must always be careful to maintain historical perspective. ; ) As for the story itself, it suffers from the same problem as almost every other OVA of it's day. The late eightes and early nineties saw a glut of manga based OVAs that either tried to cram too much story into too few episodes or were only meant to get viewers interested enough in the story to start picking up the manga. The problem got even bigger when these shows got brought over to the US as we never had the opportunity to read the manga for most of them. You're absolutely correct in your assessment that this anime could have been so much more.
  14. This is why I don't bother with magazine reviews. Congrats on your show A7!

  16. You think this one's good, you should've seen the thread on forward swept wings.
  17. I don't know the guy's real name, but he goes by Glagla on Brickshelf, and I'm fairly certain he's Japanese. If you go up gallery from that link you'll see his other stuff, including a micro scale transforming Koenig Monster. He's probably the best LEGO robot builder ever. I'd kill for instructions to his Patlabor Ingram.
  18. Don't think about it too much. We're talking about giant robots here. The concept itself is unrealistic.
  19. The first TV series is excellent (not one of my top ten favorites, though), but the second TV series (the one CN showed) was merely good.
  20. Bah. Keep it here. The megathreads are a pain in the ass to sift through and a just plain bad idea. But anyway, you are correct that the idea of a humanity being the result of extra terrestrial intervention is old. Older than SF, even. It's a common theme in most religions.
  21. Wings of Honneamise Legend of the Galactic Heroes Di Gi Charat Macross Aim for the Top! Prefectural Earth Defense Force Vision of Escaflowne Future Boy Conan Giant Robo The Animation Patlabor
  22. Funny that they didn't mention those early releases were mostly all porn titles.
  23. I highly agree. This is my favorite film of all time.
