  1. Plus Hasbro doesn't have to royalties on Transformers. I imagine a good part of that $20 is going to Harmony Gold. Comparing these to transformers is apples and oranges. I'll definitely be getting one of these once I have some extra cash.
  2. "Benji, Zax and the Alien Prince"
  3. Wow. The first episode just rocks. It's totally a boys adventure SF story straight out of the fifties. The designs are outstanding. Not just the jets and flying saucers, but everything has a very retro look to it that is absolutely perfect. They even have vacuum tubes! I can't wait for the next episode.
  4. "SF" from Prefectural Earth Defense Force. A nice, solid hard rock tune. A lot of the Lupin III stuff from the 70's. Great jazz. The Earth Girl Arjuna OSTs. I hate, hate, hate the show, but these are some of Yoko Kanno's best work, IMO. "Hit in America" from Beck. "Dance of the Curse" from Escaflowne "Only One, No. 1" from Di Gi Charat "Girls(heart)Boys" from School Rumble "Carnival Babel" from Blue Seed "Girls on Film" from Speed Grapher "Twilight" from the Daicon IV Film (are these two cheeting?) "Force" from Berserk Ravel's "Bolero" and Wagner's "Flight of the Valkyries" from Legend of the Galactic Heroes (heh, another possible cheet answer).
  5. You know who I always thought should air LoGH in the US: PBS. It'd be such a great match, and they'd be more willing to leave it in the original language.
  6. Not really. The name at the bottom of the screen for the first few times we see a character was a enough to get me to remember them later when they didn't show it.
  7. New trailer: http://www.mangazoo.jp/sakuhin/sos/ I really want to see this.
  8. That could be. There wasn't any real explanation for it on any of the sites I could find (that I could read anyway).
  9. mms://mercury.via.or.jp/dhw/df05/lastbattalion.wmv Saw this posted on ANN earlier today. It's pretty good, though very short and not much in the way of plot.
  10. Someone forget their prozac today? At the very least, reserve judgement until you've seen it from other angles and in other modes. As for the stabilizers, I would think that you wouldn't be able to make them bigger unless they folded in half or something. They're already going to stick out from the other side of the leg as it is in battloid, from what I see in those pictures (and I could be wrong).
  11. A musical adaptation fits right in with the absurdist humor of Evil Dead. I'd watch it in an instant, and I hate musicals.
  12. It didn't. That's from the Daicon IV film.
  13. Anyone have any links to places where I can get biographical info on Shoji Kawamori or just articles/essays on him in general? Thanks
  14. Great pics. If you guys shoot some of these things off locally some Sat. afternoon, let me know as I'd love to watch.
  15. There were references to multiple anime, including Gundam, Yamato and Legend of the Galactic Heroes (and probably others).
  16. I just realized I picked all stuff Yamato has already done toys for. So how about this: the original Dangaiou.
  17. Giant Robo: The Animation would be my first choice. Runners up would probably be Escaflowne or Megazone 23.
  18. I think what's great about Dalek, aside from the sheer nostalgia of it, is the interaction between the Doctor and the Dalek. We see a side of the Doctor we've never, ever seen before and likewise for the Dalek itself. The rampage through the facility was good just because we finally get to see how badass a Dalek really is, but that was only a small part of why I liked the episode. I agree whole heartedly with you on Love and Monsters. It's sad that the episode seems to generate a lot of hate with the fans (especially when it's such a celebration of fandom). Bad Wolf/Parting of the Ways was good, but the ending seemed anti-climatic to me. The almost literal deus ex machina ending just didn't feel right. With Army of Ghosts/Doomsday, the climax was good, but I will admit that the post climax bit kind of drug. I think they could have shortened the goodbye part a bit. The smack talking scene was just plain awesome. While I really like Eccleston, I've definitely become a convert to the Tennant Doctor. The only episodes this season that I felt were weak were New Earth and Fear Her (about the same as last season, I guess which had the Long Game and Boom Town).
  19. I thought it was way better than Bad Wolf/Parting of the Ways. The only episodes that might be better were Dalek, Girl in the Fireplace and The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances.
  20. Freaking amazing. The smack talking scene was just plain awesome. An excellent ending too. Damn, now I have to wait five months for more...
  21. Doctor Who has a long tradition of re-using actors who played other characters in earlier episodes: The Brigadier, Harry Sullivan, the second Romana, and the sixth Doctor.
  22. Appears the new companion has been anounced: http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/pressrele.../agyeman2.shtml Definitely easy on the eyes, and she did a pretty good job in Army of Ghosts.
