Well, in Japan they've been doing the next best thing recently, and that's reissuing classic albums on CD but in the original large-size LP packaging. Plus you get all the bonus tracks of the deluxe CD releases. They've brought out quite a few out now including T.Rex's Electric Warrior, Derek and the Dominoes, Rolling Stones, even the Beastie Boys. I'm thinking of getting The Who's "Who's Next". I don't see it happening with DVDs though. Still, you never know. 387978 Oooo!! Linkage please!

A lot of Japanese DVDs come with cool extras. It's just the size that prevent the nice art inserts and covers that LDs had (it's why I miss record albums, myself). Other than packaging though, DVDs are pretty much all around better.

The whole thing has a really retro/old school look to it. I definitely am going to check this one out. Edit: just read that the anime is based on some science fiction illustrations made back in the 1940's. Explains the retro look.

Good call. Matsumoto knows his stuff.

It's called Zipang.

They pretty much died almost overnight in late 1999 early 2000. A few shows got special, limited LD pressing after that, but that soon died as well. The switch to DVD was amazingly fast.

I really like the current Microman figures. They're amazingly posable and the extra hands just rock. I've got a couple Batman figures and a couple more of the regular ones. I've not had any problems with any of them, and the chrome doesn't bother me.

Umm... you might want to check the dates on the first few posts of this thread.

Apparently it was a real pilot that Fox turned down. Hilarious stuff, especially their use of Ron Silver.

Orginial Mina the Moon Rabbit Girl video from 1983

Looks like it's working. Thanks MM! -
I'm kind of curious to see how Rose and Sarah Jane will interact. There's so many ways they can go with this.

Just watched the first episode. Not bad, but not great. The characters have a very stylized look to them and they still movie pretty jerky. The story and characterization were okay. I'm curious anyway to see where they decide to go with it. It's definitely not the same setting as the manga.

We should start a write-in campaign to Jeff Lynne to license the music so we can get a DVD release. -
Orginial Mina the Moon Rabbit Girl video from 1983

I managed to download it but it was no better in quality than the original version. I know of someone on the web from another board who has it on laserdisc, but he will not transfer it to his computer to make it available as a download. And that sucks, as the laserdisc version is quite clear. 383922 I had a high quality copy of it once upon a time, but can't seem to find it anymore. I'd kill for the LD, but don't have a couple grand to blow on it right now. -
Gits: Sac To Return For A 3rd Season.
JELEINEN replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Actually, that episode is lauded by many as being very well executed. One of the characteristics of science fiction is that it usually requires a large amount of exposition. That episode manages to do a lot of the exposition in a unique and entertaining way. If you're looking for action porn, you probably shouldn't have bothered with GitS in the first place. -
For special pieces, you buy them off bricklink.com.

super glue maybe? that is awesome 380999 Not needed. As long as he's not carrying the whole thing around, I imagine it'll hold up quite well. And for transporting, he made it in sections, so that's probably not too bad either.

This guy is still my all time favorite builder (I posted his space battleship Yamato before): http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?m=junlego If he ever gets his real Yamato done, it will be the most amazing LEGO build ever.

Skip it. 380664 Gee, Jeleinen, thanks for that enlightening opinion. Do you think you could take two seconds out of your no doubt busy schedule to tell us -why- you think that? What's the point of a discussion if you just blurt out two word proclamations without any reasoning? 380688 Actually, I didn't have time to make a longer post then. I will now though. First off, it's a completely unnecessary sequal. The end of 2 pretty much wraps things up quite well. Secondly, and even more importantly, the big reveal at the end pretty much craps all over the conclusion of 2 (trying not to spoil here, so please forgive my vagueness). If you can see it for free, it's not going to melt your brain or anything, but it's not worth going after and it's certainly not worth purchasing.

Okay, her leg just freaked me out.

I've been following his progress on this for quite a while. The ship is just amazing. The planes are okay and would make a good sets in terms of playability, but don't really match the modeling he's doing on the ship. BTW, make sure you click on the "Next" at the bottom to see all the pics.

In a lot of ways, I thought the post-Liberator series was better.

When they showed him in the previews at the end of the Christmas Invasion, he looked the same, but in pretty bad shape.
