Official MacrossWorld Con 2009 Information Thread
VFTF1 replied to KiriK's topic in Conventions and Local Gatherings
Naturally, I cannot attend due to it being way to expensive to fly across the world to California - although I do have an ex-girlfriend there whose ass I'd love to kick, so it might be worth it to combine the two... err... but back on topic: I wanted to give a shout out of mega super love approval to WHOEVER is behind that AWESOME poster on the Macrossworld main page - with the YF-19, VF-25F, the Valk Girl - everything all coming together so well - it's a really outstanding poster and looks GREAT! Everybody have fun! Pete -
It helps having your own webpage that you can open whenever you want, with a built in Youtube screen that shows whatever you want: www.dyrl.pl Thanks for my new front page music vid Pete

Vifam7 - you're right... and it would have been impossible for me to make that attachment without first making the correction Prometheus pointed out. He's obviously a master modeler with a perfect eye for everything. Thanks to both of you. Char is happy now Pete

Re: Mia's ass vs. Sheryl's ass and whether Alto has it better or worse off. You know what's wrong with Mia's (or whatever her name is) character design? THE HAIR. Yes -she has a great ass - but her hair is too short and breasts too small to fit that ass. It's a classic case of miss-match. Taken alone - that ass is golden. But put together with rather demure breasts and short care - no. And then look at her face - she so totally DOESN'T have the face to support short hair. Her eyes DEMAND long flowing hair - reaching down to that nice ass. Sheryl - on the other hand - she has a tighter, firmer, less lush ass - true: but she also have a nice face, a MUCH BETTER SENSE OF STYLE (that is to say - look how many different outfits Sheryl gets for her design while Mia gets just that stupid flight suit, and she also SINGS better. Pluss - her firm tight ass is the result of a fitness routine which in itself allows for an homage to DYRL Minmey who had the same short shorts we love on But heck - even outside of this - even the uniforms themselves from TSC are terrible compared to Macross: Frontier. But then again - this is probably because in Macross Frontier, SMS is a private military provider and there's actual thought put into the socio-economic and political landscape of the series. In Shadow Chronicles, it's just kind of a given that people still wear tight fitting jump suits and there really ISN'T any political or economic landscape to speak of. Just some dudes on a space ship fighting some red guys.... nothing more complex than that... Or - if it's there - it never comes into focus, and we never get a chance to see how it effects the main characters... And last but not least: "Rick Hunter"... Well - it looks kind of like they are very much effected by the classical Warner Brothers/Batman/Teen Titan design parameters. I kind of liked it in Batman, and I guess it was passable in Transformers: Animated - but in the end, I prefer what anime gives us; which is far more 'European' insofar as what you basically have is realism in terms of settings, background, clothes etc - and only faces are slightly charicatured to give them some character... this SHOULD remind some people of George Remis (known to the world as Herge) and his Tintin books, which employed pretty much the same standards. Pete

Ooops... gotta go downstairs and look at the instruction and see what I can do to fix that - thanks! Pete
-
I hope so That would explain it. Pete

Revoltechs won't work either. They're for 15 and up - for a reason. Too many small parts to get lost or swallowed. Also - he'll end up just loosing the limbs of the figure if he's not careful. I'd say - get him a Transformer instead. Macross isn't for kids Pete
-
Well - thanks for showing us the major animation error in DYRL's ending - namely the Strike cannon is on Hikaru's left in some scenes - and then on his right in other scenes... Pity. Pete
-
Wow!! Ok - that seals it! I'm getting rid of my Masterpiece Prime! Who wants it for 11 dollars plus Zone 4 shipping? Pete
-
Who's the girl with the luggage? Pete

I on the other hand feel happy; having just completed my Char's Zaku II version 2. Well... still got weapons to build. I used a pencil for panel lining - so you can add "pencil" to my list of ghetto modeling tools Yay. Pete
-
It's been this way since I wrote it Not my fault there are so many characters in Macross But I can make it longer and add Grace to it to make you happy Pete

That's Dad's day job Pete

This thread is too vague. Technically, they WERE produced. Bandai made a transformable model kit for the VF-whatever-it-was-called-in-Macross-II. But I gather you mean will Yamato or Bandai make a 1/60 or something like that scale? Personally I think there are better things to do. I don't like the designs. They look like Macross 'Seed Destiny' with all those bigger guns which are just out of proportion. But who knows - if Yamato did it I'd probably buy it. I don't know enough about it to really have an opinion - which makes me the perfect candidate to write my thoughts down on the internets ;P Pete
-
I think he's not feminine enough. I want to see what's up with the pony tale? How did they mold it? I would prefer if you could change his hair from "with pony tail" to "without." Oh - and can they PLEASE make a statue of Alto performing in Kibuki theatre as Hime? Pete
-
That is pretty darn cool. I too hope we get all the other characters. They DON'T have to be in EX-Gear though. Although I suppose Ozma and the other valkyrie pilots do... But Sheryl and Ranka I'd rather have in...er.. other kinds of "gear" Pete
-
As long as there are no more radical mold changes and all of the v.2, 2.1, 2.3 etc can look nice together in display - and they keep it in 1/60 then I'm all for it. Pete

Official Bandai 1/60 Scale DX Toy Thread Ver.5
VFTF1 replied to azrael's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
As usual I decided to not have these problems and buy everything. I have the model kit of Ozma and am getting Luca and Alto with Super pack. I think they're great. I think they're devine. But I also want something in 1/60 scale. The pictures of Michael and Luca were what brought me around to respecting the DX. I will just make a note to myself never to open the cockpit, never to pose the Gerwalk with the gunpod under the belly and a couple other notes... The Armored Ozma looks great. Looking forward to it. Head lasers that are straight are good. Pete -
Re: Archivist Exodol cosplaying Sheryl - How did he ever get that six-pack going? I mean - the guy clearly works out Pete

I guess you discovered my day job Pete

Post Your Collections - General Toy Collection Displays
VFTF1 replied to promethuem5's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
My collection took 60 pictures to photograph. Obviously that's a tad too many to post, so what I've done is to reduce the size of each picture and slap them onto large pages - this makes for 7 pages of multi-frame pictures. The Transformers Animated Shelf is gone - I've decided to sell them. I will be putting Beast Wars on that shelf and hopefully adding to the BW II and Neo collection (in these pictures, the BW are all packed in their boxes): Pete- 138 replies

SCRATCH BUILD MACROSS Armored Factory and Maintenance Bay
VFTF1 replied to MaveRick's topic in The Workshop!
mind bogglingly amazing... I really need to get around to creating some dioramas. It's a shame having so many awesome figures and models and then having them sit around with walls in the background... But the best I can think of is to go to the pet shop and get some of those rolling hills and vallies for rats, rabbits, gerbles and what have you... Pete -
Excellent. Excellent Love it. Please show us more. Pete

Official Bandai 1/60 Scale DX Toy Thread Ver.5
VFTF1 replied to azrael's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I'm somehow expecting to be underwhelmed so I'll probably have a more positive opinion than had I gotten the initial batch... also - is your alto V.1 or v.2? Pete -
The one thing that amuses me is how EASY it is to make a knock off TF - which just goes to show that the "real" TFs are basically about as complex as a... knock off. Notice how nobody's making any knock off version 2 VF-1s - the detail and engineering are too complex to make for a cheap profitable knock off... Although in fairness to Takara-Tomy - no knock off Masterpieces on the horizon either Pete
