well I think the New Packs are the sexiest thing ever in the history of forever so it's like a dual strike pack only cooler! If this pack comes out for the DX I'll buy it even if the DX it goes on is still the same craptastic mess. also looking forward to a DX VF-27. (I'm done with the 1/72 model line, I still haven't finished my VF-25F kits from when they first came out.)

Wild speculation theory here: It's going to be some kind of special armor the whip up to Match the VF-27 (either as a counter to it or to fight vajra like it). The big guns are quantum beam guns, with the "power condenser unit" being a device to draw power from the mech to charge the guns. the wing cover things have extra engines for more power/speed (just like the VF-27 with it's 4 engines), Micro missile launchers just like the VF-27, and it looks like the nacelle over the wing gloves (where the normal boosters go) may have large beam guns (just like the nacelles on the VF-27).

I second this. I'm not all that big on the VF-11C color scheme (too plain) and the B has a cooler gunpod anyways, If this came with the atmospheric boosters though I'd be all over this. Those things are pure sex.

but so does the VF-4 and that was flown by more central characters than the VF-5000 was. so like I said it's at least as much of a longshot as the VF-4

I find your logic highly illogical. the VF-500 is about as unlikely as the VF-4 (if not more so). it's an obscure design which isn't really like the VF-1 at all and only shows up in a single OVA (where it has one paint scheme) and a couple of video games. it's never been a hero/main character valk.

I think it looks better than the VF-25DX. I'll hold off final judgment until we see fighter mode and something closer to the final product, but I'm hopeful.

That's exactly the reason why I enjoy Alien3. It brought the Alien back to being a cunning ambus predator where you had to worry if you had ONE to deal with. I guess Aliens is along the same deal as Conservation of Ninjitsu I actually have the opposite feeling about alien3. I could write whole books about why I don't like 3 but one of the biggest ones is because it really took the whole franchise backwards. Aliens makes a such a great sequel to Alien because it's a logical progression from the first film. Rather than try to cash in on the first film by recycling the content of the first movie, they took the world of the first film and expanded upon in an interesting way. The two films work together because the make the conscious effort to define themselves by the content of the world and not the content of the plot. Had the second film been just another horror flick about random unarmed smucks getting slaughtered by a lone monster it wouldn't have been nearly as interesting, It would have been the same thing all over and it would have ended up like every other horror film where the sequels just get worse and worse do to lack of originality. rather than saying 'where going to define this franchise as a space horror movie franchise' the took the direction 'where going to define this franchise as one about a universe where the ultimate predator is this creature. the 3rd movie doesn't work mostly because it's too much like the first film. Just compared to the first it's unoriginal and uninspired and that's made worse by the fact that it fallows the Aliens which did so much that was new, different and original.
