Looks like GX-117 will have the elbow Drill Missile, Iron Cutter and Jet Pilder now. So essentially Bandai conned everyone into buying the poverty spec. version GX-105.

The Transformers Thread (licensed) Next
lechuck replied to mikeszekely's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Ahh... Transformers Devastation, good times, The game is great, felt like a lost G1 cartoon episode at times. Shame the first toy entry for it is victim to Hasbro's heavy handed budget constraints. A Takara MP of Devastation OP would be a fantastic proposition, but highly unlikely.- 17180 replies

So far I have abstained from these, but the new Illustrious Class has piqued my interest due to it being in that more compatible "Gundam scale" at about 18 cm height.

I'm in for this, the only concern I have is that the wrists end up too loose and won't be able to hold weapons in place. Other nitpicks would be the shoulder pivot, which could have had better range and that Moshow should have given it proper emotion manipulators instead of swap-out hands as well as a longer sword.

The MSN-04FF Sazabi was part of a special animation for the opening of the Gundam Side-F at La La Port Fukuoka where they have the life size Nu Gundam RX-93ff statue. The Chogokin Sazabi and Nu Gundam are roughly about 20/21 cm in height, they are NOT proper 1/100 scale. The Chogokin Gundam EX on the other hand is listed as being 18.5 cm tall which would make it exactly 1/100 scale.

See I don't like SD stuff, the difference being that I would avoid the threads that don't interest me and not enter them to post one liners of ridicule that serves no real purpose other than drowning everything into negativity. Who are these collectors and how do you know there are many that sympathise this way? Other posters here have wondered and complained that this costs 160$ instead of the wishful 60$ – maybe the company has actually done their homework and factored in the niche-ness? What's there not to understand or be confused about? It's a reinterpreted version of the VF-1 that's all. Unix Square never proclaimed to be going anime/line art accurate only to reveal something completely different. Why do you assume that a fantasy space jet fighter (that's what VF-1 is and nothing more) always has to be rooted in real world airframe/aircraft engineering or that fighter mode should be the defining factor for collectors. It's ironic that people here go all Greta Thunberg when a VF-1 fighter mode doesn't look "real" enough, but never have an issue with the fantastical aspect of it transforming into a robot... but yeah "how dare you Unix Square for spacing the intakes so far apart!"🙄 A bit of a weird and contradictory stance to have for all of this if you ask me. 🤔 What is this supposed to even mean? What is Unix Square's effort supposed to be like? Anyone remotely familiar with the IP will tell you it's based on the VF-1, all the usual attributes and traits are there, it's the just the design language that differs greatly. Where does resemblance start and end, who defines that? Sorry but you are just basically proclaiming what appeals to you aesthetically as a de-facto standard for everyone else to adjust their sensibilities to – it doesn't work that way. The samurai Star Wars figures might be great toys, but I don't appreciate the re-interpretation – so in this instance it is not a "good example of redesign". You say the Unix Square VF-1 is ugly and needs fixing and the next person will tell you it's all fine – who is right and who is wrong is a moot point when it comes to design aesthetics.

I haven't come across it either, so I don't think they have put it up yet. Why are some of these stores hiking the price on a retail release, was this a practice in the past? I thought that was only done when it's P-Bandai, lottery or store exclusive? Supposedly the Zeta will also be released for the EU market, so at this point I might just pre-order locally when it gets solicited.

Neither is the Providence my favourite MB or Gundam nor do I have any deep rooted attachment to these toys that would have me take criticism about them personal. I would appreciate that you not presume things about me that you simply don't know – because that I do take a bit personal. "Internet opinion" isn't some kind authoritative body, it's just a cesspool of thoughts and assessments including mine and yours. You are of course entitled to align yourself with the opinion that the Providence apparently has limited articulation. However ridiculing it as a "brick" without any further differentiation reads very one-sided – total discontent for the MB with no positive/redeeming traits. So I'm offering a counter view based on my personal experience, not so much to persuade you to change sides, but it might give others that do not have Providence a broader/better perspective – for example the legs/feet are not in any way impeded, ab-crunch and the torso side tilt (something for example the Dynames doesn't even have) can still be fully utilised with the backpack attached. The backpack itself clips into construct that hinges upwards to allow for clearance when needed, like for waist swivel or when arching the main body backwards. Arms won't be doing any full rotations, but the rest – pivoting shoulders, lateral arm movement, deep elbow bend, bicep/fore-arm swivel, wrist – all remain functional. The backpack is massive, which does become a bit cumbersome when handling. The expanding gimmick is a neatly implemented idea, but is not really something that will blow your mind away. The DRAGOONs sit firmly for the most part, I would say the three large/rounded ones could have a tighter fit. Overall I don't see any severe limitations, the sculpt is great – especially those cables on the main body. One could argue that accessories aren't that many, because once the backpack and DRAGOONs are attached there isn't much else other than the gun, shield, beam blade effect part and select few alternate hands. Is the MB Providence a must have for the collection? Overall it is a solid entry, on the other hand there really isn't that much to do or explore – expand the backpack, gun, shield and/or detach the DRAGOONS, that's it. I would say a Strike Noir, Red Astray Dragonix or Dynames yields better experience in this regard. If one is a fan of the Providence, likes SEED MS in general or just wants to have a bad guy Gundam in their collection AND you can find it for the OG price/pre-order markup, then it is worthwhile picking up.

Was trying to be helpful with some further insight and provide another viewpoint, but wow... talk about being dismissive to direct feedback from an actual owner!? Instead of just deriding the MB Providence as a "brick" in one-liners, why don't you actually try and elaborate a bit more – why is it a brick, what are these limitations you keep referring to and compared to which other MB Gundam does it perform poorly?

A unique and refreshing take on the venerable VF-1, looking forward to this and appreciate that Unix Square trying to do something different. Battroid mode looks like it is going to destroy every other transforming Valkyrie toy out there in the articulation department. Even fighter mode is fine to me, gives off that fantastical space jet vibe from classic side scrolling shooter games.
