  1. Did you watch the series? Eva's were monsters wrapped up in armor. The characters shown are concept art for the uniforms not for making the characters look hot which is pointless as that will depend on the actress.
  2. He got his scar when he was killed in a pumpkin patch with a pair of scissors. Now every Halloween The Great Pumpkin rises from the pumpkin patch to avenge his death. ... ... ... ... ... ... Yeah, let's go with that.
  3. I guess they'd have to have done an ass load of research to find out whether or not those two get along. Although, I guess that would be one way to explain why Isamu wasn't just discharged from the military. They wouldn't really put up with any of his crap expecially since he was a pilot.
  4. Get some pitch forks and torches and chase him to the old abandoned windmill and set it on fire?
  5. My favorite memory of Final Fantasy 8 is the one where I quit playing.
  6. It's not a Meltran ship as it appears only with Zentradi forces. Also, the Meltran ship isn't what were are referring to. The Meltran ship int he picture looks nothing like the Zentran ship in question. Watch the DYRL battle scene in the beginning where the fight reaches the Macross. You can see a few of these Zentran ships blasting away at the Macross.
  7. Gundamish? Eh, the VF-1 designs they came up with look more like Robotech's VF-6/Alpha fighters at least they do in battloid configuration.
  8. That ship also appears in beginning of DYRL. It's a very small ship that fires a fairly large beam from the nose of the craft. It's about as big as the zentradi scout ship.
  9. The SV-51 used the real VTOL mode at least once in the series meaning that it is capable of vertical take-offs and landings without leaving fighter mode. The GERWALK sans arm mode is mostly for rapid changes in direction, rapid deceleration, hovering or quickly landing.
  10. ...I have no idea how anyone could come up with “stalking†as the descriptor for GERWALK without the arms deployed. I suppose it came about the same way people use “ninja†to mean stolen or taken by force. I always thought ninjas were primarily stealthy assassins which has little to do with theft. Anyway, VTOL is a much better description as that is pretty much the only reason they use that mode. On occasion they switch to VTOL mode for rearward thrust much like the opening fight scene in DYRL.
  11. As long as Lucas hires a script writer maybe he'll be able to avoid the terrible dialog that plagues his recent films.
  12. Hikaru's VF-1D (VT102) before and after his encounter with the Zentradi soldier would be cool.
  13. I've always understood that Kawamori's reference to VTOLs in a design was referring to fighter mode only. They said the VF-0/1 didn't have a VTOL — although it was capable of it in gerwalk mode — but the SV-51 was. Notice that the SV-51 could take off vertically without changing modes. Its VTOL is similar to the F-35 (JSF) with a thruster pointing down behind the cockpit and the main enigine directing thrust downwards as well.
  14. I always attributed those aspects to entertainment. Must like how missiles and fighter planes can fly in space exactly as they would in the atmosphere — although this was not present in DYRL — and how things still make audible noises in space. It wouldn't look as exciting when you didn't see the beams that were being fired or if you couldn't hear the noises things were making. It'd be about as exciting as 2001: A Space Odessey. I also attributed the explosions to two things: the same reason Hollywood blows up anything that has been shot or wrecked and to make it easier to animate. Given that the head lasers just seem to cut through metal most likely when an enemy pod was hit it'd just penetrate the hull and kill the pilot thus leaving the remains to float around. Well, if they had done it the way it should have happened then you'd have to animate all this stuff floating around or crashing into things in the background thus it is far easier just to make it explode from an animation perspective. The beam weapon's emissions being visible doesn't really bother me as I am willing to believe that it is some other type of energy discharge.
  15. I actually thought of that. In order to cool something off you'd have to transfer the heat from it to something else only there isn't anything in space. However I do remember some educational videos mentioning things instantly freezing.
  16. That's a good model. I like it better than the drawings which always looked funny to me.
  17. I'm not commenting on his work. His work is good. I'm just saying that I think the VF-4 is one of the ugliest designs in the Macross universe and I don't see why some people like it so much. G.E.R.W.A.L.K basically means an armed vehicle with wings that can walk. You could even say that it is a vehicle that fulfills the same role as a helicopter — possessing flight and infantry reinforcement/anti-tank with a walking ability as well. You can see what the abbreviation is trying to say when it spells it out but it's like those other acronyms where they want to to make a word that is easy to say and remember rather than having what it stands for be precise.
  18. Hhmmm, I might have to paint my Stealth now that I what an all black valkyrie looks like... well, I'll leave some grey on it. ...Now I just need to learn to paint ...paint well ...actually I just need to learn to be patient when painting... ...come to think of it I suck at painting even if I am patient which leads to impatience and being unsatisfied.
  19. Aside from extreme ranges a projectile fired from a gun would have infinite range and be far more accurate in space than it would on earth. The projectile wouldn't lose it's momenteum nor would it travel in an arc. Projectiles and even missiles would be better in space than they would be in an atmosphere. Lasers would have a speed and accuracy advantage in space over a projectile though. Another advantage of lasers in space is that it would be invisible. You wouldn't be able to see where the shots are coming from. You wouldn't feel the impact of the laser either. You'd just suddenly notice that your hull was breached. With bullets there would be a clang that would resonate throughout your ship. So with a laser you could be under attack and not even know it until it is far too late. The coldness of space would also help prevent any type of weapon from overheating.
  20. While they're at it they can have shot-in-the-back Kakizaki, crushed-by-Breetai Kakizaki and didn't-quite-out-run-the-omni-directional-barrier-explosion Kakizaki. There could even be got-his-ass-handed-to-him-by-Breetai Hikaru. If not those, then they could model the condition cannon fodders come back in if at all.
  21. Speaking of animation mistakes, my favorite one thus far is in the second episode where Hikaru's cockpit that is placed under Roy's VF-1S constantly alternates between the cockpit and Roy's gunpod. In one scene it focuses on Roy's gunpod shooting down a battlepod which we all know would be impossible because Hikaru's cockpit was there and not the gunpod. Speaking of that scene, aren't the head lasers supposed to be the primary gun in fighter mode?
  22. The planes don't blow up in the movie. Some caught fire then fell apart. Most just spiral out of control towards the ground or the pilot was shot to death. The zepplin scene in the previews is out of context and thus gives the wrong impression to the audience on what is going on. In the movie it you'll see it in the correct context. I was "WTF!? WWI dog fights weren't like that!" after seeing the preview but after watching the movie it is completely different.
  23. You know, when I look at the Hasagawa models, they all have the VF-1J forarms. I think the forearm differences is that some people mistaked the color scheme for panel lines.
  24. It was better than I expected. I thought like the poster above that it was going to have a bunch of WWI fighters flying complex maneuvers in a sea of planes. It actually wasn't like that. The planes fought more or less like they would have in WWI. The scene in the previews that makes it look like the there were tons of planes only appears that way because you're viewing it out of context. You might at well go see it.
  25. I always thought the VF-4 was an ugly design from the start. Good luck on your project though.
