  1. I don't think I'd need the whole of the books translated, though naturally I wouldn't object if someone did. I'd like translated text on just the sections about mecha and ships, since those are the subjects on which I want to work. Still, I know it's a tall order even to get one page translated. But it couldn't hurt to ask.

Oops, I didn't mean the whole books either sorry.

  2. I have done that before... It'd be interesitng to see if that exact silhouette was used elwhere in the series though, I still suspect animation shortcuts. I'd also like to take another look at the wreckage on the lake - perhaps there are more answers there.

I'd have to rewatch the episode, it's been a few months since I saw it - maybe there was a big boom. And with lessons learned from the factory satellite, maybe they could throw one together pretty quickly. On that note, there's really no indication of how much time passes between M7 & D7.

Very true on the time passage thing, but if it took major damage as well it may have been quicker to just replace the whole ship and scrap what was left. It also never said if they recovered the Riviera 7 either.

It's been awhile since I watched M7 at all, that's the bad thing about 12-hour works shifts, ugh.

Maybe I'll get to watch it here soon hopefully, need to finish watching the new SDF Macross DVD's first though, big difference between the butchered version and it that's for sure.

  3. Hey that could well be a possibility. Would have been a total biatch to get it back into space though.

As anally as it sounds I measured the lengths out, all of them appear to be Battle, as for the Battle 7 to me it appeared to be destroyed, plus there is the fact that we don't know actually how long it would take to build a Battle section especially since they are using Battroid mode Valks to do the work instead of having just a bunch of people swarming all over it.

  4. So do I. I own Macross Perfect Memory, Macross The Movie (Gold Book), and both Kawamori Design Works. Unfortunately, I don't read japanese so I only have the Macross Compendium to go off and the odd translated trivia that I've remembered from my time here in MW.

It's not much and I need more.

It's too bad we can't find some one to translate it and then maybe put it up as a pinned thread or a section on someone's web page or something like that.

  5. Yes that series had to be Miyatake Kazutaka's best work so far!

Actually there were two Battle 7's the original which was destroyed at the end of the Varauta war and then the new one which we see being built during Dynamite.

As for the other colony fleets look at the pic here and you will see that there are several Battles and one picture of mine I can't find at the moment shows and earlier fleet with multiple battles as well.

I actually need to check my dates a little to adjust fleet sizes but some fleets do have multiple Battles.

  6. I think one of the major problems we are having with it is the root word for spiritia is spirit, maybe we should look at more from a bio-electric stand point.

Humans can almost be considered as batteries, you drain off too much energy and they start to fail [coma etc], sounds that are enjoyed or sounds that stimulate anger may recharge that source by stimulate the persons brain functions in a certain manner?

  7. I love your site. I'm a big fan of macross lineart, and that's one of the best collections I've ever seen.

2 questions, though: are there any larger pics of Battle13? It looks soooo much cooler than Battle7 - I think its the shoulders that give it a more impressive silhouette.

And also, was there ever a pic of Battle5 in attacker mode? Wouldn't be too hard to alter a Battle7 pic, but I think the Zentraedi styling would make for a pretty cool attacker.

    Thanks, Kelsain.

Those are the largest ones in the book, although I think I still have the scanned images which were done at 600 dpi res, I can check and see if you want?

Nope, no pics of Battle 5 in attacker mode, although if I could ever find a decent artist I would see if they could do one.

  8. Im watching some Macross 7 episodes again and I truly

think I could write a "100 reasons why Macross 7 sucks"

No one bothered by monsters, energy music, a macross canon size beam powered

by singing, Mylene healing Basara with a song?

How much do you think Macross 7 influenced or could influence Macross sequels

turning it more to the fantasy side? No one worried that it could make Macross

sequels lose its credibility, argument quality and instead of elaborated scenarios getting

    childish scenarios?

It's been stated before that SK does something different with each sequel, I doubt if we will see anything of M7's like again, and if SK doesn't do anymore Macross and someone else picks it up that stuff will most likely be more along the lines of SDFM and Plus.

  9. i'm a big fan of macross 7 mecha, particularly the uraga escort-carriers and the battle-7. does anyone have ANY nice screenshots/lineart of them? it would be much appreciated. i'm sick of looking these up and just seeing small lineart, hoping someone has something real awesome to share.

I have a whole monkey butt of pictures here, just click on them, not huge sized pictures but decently sized.

  10. Thanks for the compliment, Kensei! It's nice to know my projects are appreciated. :)

And yes, Knight26, that is (pretty much) a VF-17 head. The image I lifted it from is a rough design for the VF-17, and the design is quite similar -- even down to the colors. As for the laser's position, I imagine that it could swing forward like the laser on the VF-1A can. Perhaps I should add in a few details to make that more apparent...

    Grebo

I thought most of the later Valk's head lasers were supposed to be used for anti-missile/chase armament anyway, or at least that's the impression I always got from the designs.

  11. I know how to kill the topic.

Usually I don't get involved in these discussions but since this one is pretty tame. So here are my takes on it.

    Macross II -

Characters - Could have been better, most of them seemed to flip-flop between competent and stupid, except for Exagram [sp?] who just acted mysterious.

Mecha - Would have loved to seen more of the New Destroids, the VF's in my opinion weren't so much lame as rather on the generic side, as were the Zentraedi Battlepods who seemed to take a step back in usefulness, the power suits were also rather generic.

Music - It was okay, but not my favorite.

Storyline - Good war story but a tad on the shollow side for development.

    Macross 7 -

Characters - Max was cool as ever, Millia was a little too neurotic and I'd love to find out how she ended up this way. Basara I wanted to punch the first few episodes but he does mature somewhat towards the end, although running up to people and yelling listen to me sing or whatever it was did grate on the nerves, Gamlin should have given up on Mylene and gone after one of the bridge bunnies and his character should have been better developed, as for the other characters there seemed to be a nice blend of nutty and serious. As for the protodeviln, well maybe a little less colorful and maybe a little scarier would have helped.

Mecha - Eye candy out the butt, love the VF's could do without the boobs on Mylene's VF however. Loved seeing the older Destroids and Valks at the one fair or whatever it was. Battle scenes could have been better, and a little more Max action as well. Probably could have done without the transforming Battle 7 but hey the last long running series had one so why not.

Music - Loved most of it, but the repetitive gets annoying at some points, I still laugh at my subbed copy when they are talking about planet dance and the subtitles have it as Parry Stands, took me awhile to figure that one out.

Storyline - Pretty good, gave us some background on the ProtoCulture, a little bit more of character development wouldn't have hurt either, although I would have to agree that it could have been a tad shorter maybe 39 Eps.

  12. so...I was wondering, the Zentradis are supposed to be a race that can't fix their technology, so, then, who built all their ships?? and if they can't fix things, it means they can't upgrade their technology either, so then, will they use their same ships and weapons forever?? we did see a different zentraedi suit on Macross plus, so then, what's the deal???

Being unable to repair their own technology was more of a Robotech thing, otherwise Kamjin would never have gotten that gunship off of the ground, they probably didn't know all the intricacy of repair and retrofit but could still do some stuff but for the major stuff relied heavily on the factory satellites.

  13. Sorry about no updates lately, I'm painting someone else's Warhammer army at the moment but I am just about done with the small updates to the Space vessel files, hopefully have them done by the end of the week.

Just to remind everyone the details behind this update, this is mainly to fix some cosmetic problems, replace some pictures, and get rid of some files I wasn't happy with, informational updates will take place later on.

Also I would like to reiterate that a lot of the information on the site is non-canon. Please keep this in mind when using any data from the site.

  14. The Macross Compendium does not state to wich block those phalanxes belong, they are listed here http://un-spacy-qmtdb.com/macross_page/uns...ls/asuka_ii.htm as block 1B and I agree with that, since the Asuka II was a very modern carrier. So I think that you are right with them being prioritized on fast movers or out of ammo.

Block 1B is the only one I had information for, although one thing we keep forgetting is that it's at least two years ahead of where we are now plus the fact that OT is starting to be used so they could be a later model that doesn't exist in the real world.

"Shrugs" So I went with the one 1B.

I didn't even realize those tubes behind the Island were for Cheyennes though I haven't seen the rest of the show, good info. And good luck on your project.

  15. Ahoy all,

I can't seem to find any pictures of the gunpod used by Isamu's VF-11B in the beginning of Macross Plus. Y'know, the one with the bayonet. Does anyone have any pictures of it? A hi-res scan of b&w lineart would be ideal...

    Anyone?

    Thanks!

    Grebo

I don't think I've ever seen an actual line drawing of the gunpod with it's bayonet out, but I may have a pic of the pod itself.

Here are the pics I have. One BW Line Art the other a screen shot.

  16. Isn't that the Zentran macross canon gunship?

    I could be wrong....

Though I DO want to know where the arcadia is in DYRL love (assuming it IS in there to begin with)... Lord Brettai

While the small guncannon/ship does have wings they aren't pointed like that and is shaped differently.

  17. I'd always presumed that the UNN and UNAF saw their peak during the UN War. After that, focus changed to defence from threats in outer space. Later, with smaller, more widely distributed population centres throughout the colony worlds, the need for a Navy or Air Force diminished even further. For example, would there be any need for a permanent Navy on Eden? Coast Guard maybe, but I can't think of a good reason for a true Navy. Thus, we're left with Spacy to provide rapid-response-style military strength throughout the colonized worlds and Space Marines to supply the grunts for the Spacy. As for the Space Air Force, maybe major/strategic colony worlds would merit a standing defence from invasion, bandits/pirates, etc., and thus have Space Air Force units permanently stationed there.

Wasn't New Edwards a UNAF base rather than a UNS base, it's been awhile since I've watched Plus. I'm not sure though.

  18. WEG's system would be killer for Macross.Do any of you guys read David Weber's Honor Harrington novels?Ken Burnside at Ad Astra Games(which pubs the Honor wargame Saganami Island Tactical Simulator)told me that when things are farther along they will use that WEG system for the Honor RPG.

I've read it, they are some of my favorites. I even tossed laser heads into one of my d20 games.
