You'll have to check your Japanese skills. As I said in my preceeding post: 攻撃砲艦 (= Attack Gun Ship.)

ラクテンス巨大ベーム攻撃砲艦 VANDAL~ブァンダル~ aka ベーム砲艦 Nope. Atlantic Class is something else. Maybe it's http://home.online.no/~smpeders/ind-sh52.htm ? EDIT: hmmm... the entry in the compendium is odd. (Referring to this one, of course: http://macross.anime.net/mecha/index.html ). Both of the VF-X2 books, Kazutaka Miyatake Design Works, and even the booklet that comes with the game make absolutely no mention regarding the class. Odd thing is that on pg 61 of Macross VF-X2 Visual Clue Guide, アトランティック級戦艦 is written. The corresponding part of the mission is the attack on the ラクテンス巨大ベーム攻撃砲艦ブァンダル... It's quite contradictory... I also hold the book in a bit of doubt, as there is at least one, really obvious visual typo in a different part of the book.

Robotech and HG License Debates

? Are they copying a preexisting design? If not, and I'm presuming that it's from Palladium Books, it's a much better offering than their previous mecha. At least this one has similar features to the MOSPEADA bikes and looks like it was produced in the same universe. Kinda. -
About the Macross Chronicles
sketchley replied to Isamu test pilot's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Darn it! I'm getting my Dynamite VFs mixed up! I was mentally transposing the 2 seater VF-5000T-G cockpit onto the VF-19P. >.< Not necessarily. The sheet's on Macross Galaxy, AKA Battle Galaxy, Battle 21, not Macross Galaxy Fleet. We may get more information on the docking question if and when a Mainland sheet is released. Maybe. -

#22 quickie run-down: VF-25F doesn't look to be too different from the VF-25S (statswise, that is). VF-19P = coolness. But where's the two-seater? Will we get a B sheet? Meltraendi Forces sheet is the Rapuramis Fortress from the movie. Macross Galaxy - Battle 21! Sweet carrier shot of it. Lots of info (some confirmed from the Great Mechanics.DX 7 article). Even a size/scale of the Galaxy Mainland. More on this later. Characters - nonething noteable, other than the Macross 7 bridge crew! Yeah, baby, yeah. Timeline - covers the first half or two thirds of the 1st M+ OVA. The history sheet looks illuminating on the tactics of the two fleets. The VF sheet starts off with a bang (sweet Hikaru full-on burst into a Regult) and ends sweetly too (nice hanger shot), and the middle is all juicy Valkyrie gun pod love. It doesn't quite have as much hard stats as I would like. But it's still quite impressive. The Macross Launch ceremony article makes me ask one thing: did it really need to be 3 pages?! (that's double sided pages...) -
It actually depends on the choice that you make in mission 9. If you take the A route (thereby getting missions 10a, 11a, & 12), then yes, she's one one of the good guys. If you choose the B route (thereby getting mission 10b), she's the bad guy, and Wilbur Garland and Shun Touma are good guys. Funny thing... despite beating the game, many times, in the A route (even at the insane difficulty level), I can't beat it in the B route! Back to back dog fighting vs. Mariafokina and Gilliam are frustratingly difficult...

Ah... ic. Well, that book looks more like a Movic book than a TIA book. The dimensions and graphics are the big clue. Looks like that's one more book on my hunting list.7 EDIT: Graham beat me. -

About the Macross Chronicles
sketchley replied to Isamu test pilot's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Have it, translating it. Basically it's limited to a timeline*, an interview with Dr. Chiba, and a series of small gobs of text on various aspects of the series - basically from Macross 0 to Macross F, with Macross F being the focus. Edit... after typing that, I remember that I already reviewed it! http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...st&p=728710 * Which was a serious byatch to translate! All that kanji! Luckily, it wasn't that different from other translated Macross timelines, so there were plenty of times that I could shrug my shoulders and guess that kanji cluster "A" means "A" from timeline. But still... 3 frikken weeks! >.< -
In a way, he's correct. For example, the 25th Battle class ship is also Macross 25 (and Battle 25, and probably another couple of names). But yeah, New Macross class is distinct from it. I think the Island Cluster class is a bit more than Battle class and Island class city ship. IMHO, it's a Battle class, Island class, and numerous Environment ships attached together that compose the Island Cluster class. (Otherwise, the cluster part of the name doesn't make much sense.) IMHO, the lack of Environment ships, or, more specifically, the lack of a solid connection between the ships in the fleet, is the prime difference between a New Macross class and an Island Cluster class. Anyhow, there are more classes of Super Long Range Emigration ship. See here for further details: http://www.macrossroleplay.org/forums/index.php?topic=2017.0 (I am, of course, referring to the statements regarding non-dome type ships, as well as the Island Cluster class being the 5th generation emigrant ship - yet the article only has 4... )

Already covered. See: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...st&p=726277 and http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...st&p=713490 (I think that's the starting point of the relevant information). Nah. I see it more along the lines of "this is what the New Macross class fleets look like now, a couple of decades after launching, and after the creation of the Island Cluster class system of hard-linked ships." -

Actually... they're not New Macross class ships. Or at least the ones with the Macross 5 aren't described as such. I believe they're described as "similar ships", but are not part of the Battle nor Super Long Range Emigration Fleet numbering systems. -

To be completely correct, one should add: Macross Class Emigration Fleet Megaroad Class Emigration Fleet But yeah, even including the extra two, a fleet could still be called up to 3 different terms. Though, I'm going to add the disclaimer, in that I need to do a bit more research (it's 02:00 as I type this) regarding the New Macross class. Right now, I'm only finding 新マクロス級の移民船団 in Macross Chronicle. The の is throwing me off and I want to check if it's only this one instance, or if it pops up elsewhere (having quickly glanced at the other sheets, they state things like "Macross 5 Fleet", but not something like 5th New Macross class Emigration Fleet. Fixed! Fixed! (yeah, it's debatable if class is part of the name of the ship, or just an attributive noun. From what I'm scanlating, yes, that's correct. -

Going to correct my last post here... from Macross Chronicles: Worldguide 17a "Macross 7 Fleet" scanlation: "Only a few New Macross Class where made, 13 in total. After that it was the Island Cluster class and so on." Worldguide 18a "Macross Frontier Fleet" scanlation: "the 25th fleet comes from the numbering of the Battle escort warship (25). This isn't a New Macross Class, but an Island Cluster class. It's the 55th Super Long Range Emigration Fleet." -

Corrections: Macross Galaxy Fleet is the 9th Large-scale Emigration Fleet, the 21st New Macross Class Emigration Fleet, and the 51st Super Long Range Emigration Fleet. Macross Frontier is a Large-scale Emigration Fleet (number presently unknown, but given the numbering differences elsewhere, most likely the 13th), the 21st New Macross Class Emigration Fleet, and the 55th Super Long Range Emigration Fleet. But yeah, I agree that we should wait until Macross Chronicle releases some more information. -

How do we know that that is the City section? From what we've seen so far, the ship is most likely "Mainland 1". The producers have not specifically stated that the ship is, or is not anything but part of the Macross Galaxy Fleet. Nor have they explicitely stated that there is not a City ship a la those in M5, M7, and M25. -

It would be cool if they were different, but as the series was produced on a tight schedule, I think they spent their time/budget on making the Macross Galaxy look different, and saved money by recycling the gun design (or, inversely, spending more time embelishing the design of the gun ship because they knew the CG model would be used more than once.) In series, I guess the explanation would be that they were made at roughly the same time. The main difference between the M7 and M13 designs (other than both the in-series and out-of-series passage of time), is that the M13 was designed with a main gun that is able to quickly charge up, and able to fire in a scatter-shot kind of attack (hit multiple targets on many different tangents, and not in one solid blast). You can see the game cut scene either in the game (VF-X2), or on the 20th Anniversary DVD. -
