I know what you guys mean. Now that I am back in Tucson, the Pima Air Museum is my favorite place to go. When you walk down the 50-60s fighter rows it is crazy how many short service life and test planes there were, and that they have in their collection. So many also have such a cool sci-fi aesthetic to them that just makes them feel futuristic, even though they are now so outclassed by anything flying today. @renegadeleader1the air museums around Seattle are nice, I used to live out there, definitely check them out. The nice things in the Seattle Museum of Flight are the one offs in their collections, especially on the civil side. Plus they also have the F-1 engine off of Apollo-11 that Bezo recovered on display now. The Everett field museum is not as extensive, and is more of a learning center, but still cool. The plant tour is crazy when you see how big it is, and that is not Boeing's only plant out there. I spent many hours wandering around the plant when I was FAA up there.

Looking sweet so far.

So, I was looking at the Den Of Geek Article regarding the newest RT comic. They reference the actual Macross series several times, and even have links embedded that lead to articles about the VF-1 VALKYRIE (and Macross), other Macross series, and the whole Robotech debacle. That got me thinking, even several youtubers I have seen, who discuss RT, bring up that it is a conglomeration of three separate titles. Given that that information is now widely available and public, to anyone who cares to open their eyes, and the amount of backlash that HG gets as a result of that from casual and hardcore fans, why don't they just sell themselves out to a larger entity and call it a day? If it is just about the money then I am sure some larger media conglomerate would be happy to gobble them up, including the distro rights to the OG Macross and send their own reps to BW to strike a deal for the rest of the franchise. Yes, Tatsunoko would still get their OG SDF-Macross money, but if say, WB, or Amazon bought HG outright, and struck direct deals with BW, Bandai, and Arcadia to distribute the rest of the series' and merch overseas wouldn't that make everyone happy? Yes, the hardcore RT fans might piss and moan, but even they would get easier access to merch, and of an arguably higher quality then they have in the past. Is HG so dogmatically stubborn that they must hold onto their franchise and keep the money trickling in, I mean how much are they actually make annually, that they wouldn't accept a big cash payout to just take a hike and leave it all behind?

Stronger undercarriage, better hook placement proposal. More accessible weapons bays and external stores configuration. Better pilot placement for deck handling. The final design was also intended to be easier to maintain, especially the VTOL. That aside, see my earlier comment about how JSF should have been handled. Had it been a true joint project, instead of air force run, it probably would have gone that direction.

Ask and ye shall receive. It is uglier then I remember and quite sloppy too with some seriously exaggerated proportions.

Anti-ballistic will always be a ship or land based missiles and systems. Though the Navy may have toyed with the idea of an air launched ABM, putting it on a fighter aircraft would be impractical.

I found the PM thread from back in 2017 when the comic first launched. He has an "interesting" view on the marketing of derivative work based on copyrighted material. He is Canadian and just says that the US does it wrong, oh well. AS for them no longer using his design, I thought the last few issues still did in the interior artwork.

Acquaintance, mostly through various 3D modeling groups. I've not seen what he's been telling people, but yes, the story he told me (short form) was that an artist bought it for what he assumed was a personal project that turned out to be the Titan Comics. I can look and see if I have the PMs where we discussed it.

I get what you are saying. It is an ugly design, but I get the aesthetic we was going for, a sort of post VF-11 design that was hybridizing a lot Zentraedi tech. Yes, selling it was wrong, and I sort of told him that, given how closely it is based on the VF-1, but he saw it the same as a lot of other 3D Modellers do, selling his work for others to use and enjoy. When he sold it to the "Artist" for Titan comics they never revealed it would be used in a commercial work, hence his claims of theft, as it was not intended for that.

I know the guy who created those VF-14 designs used in the comics. He used to sell them, but got screwed in this case. The common license he sold them under allowed them to be used by the comics, but IIRC (it's been a while since he and I discussed it) he's never gotten proper credit for them, but "fans" of the comic have gone after him for selling them. Hence he has pulled them down. He has also gotten some hate from Macross and, yes, Robotech Purists who don't like the new design. Personally, I think his design is fine, for a fan creation, but never should have been misused by the comic "Artists" this way.

The J-21 is not a bad looking plane, but it is definitely a missile truck from the look of it. Get in fast, dump your missiles on target, get a quick turn around and beat feat out. Despite the Canards it is likely not supermaneuverable. But it is far from ugly. The F-32 production concept was honestly a nice looking plane that would have looked perfect beside it's forefathers: the F-86, F-8 and A-7. I have long said that the JSF program should have stayed a technology development project, with the core technologies: Engines, sensors, radar, weapons, etc... getting farmed out to other companies to produce the actual airframes. In that scheme: The Air Force would get its F-35. There was clear bias on the USAF leadership in that direction. The Navy/Royal Navy would get the F-32. The design was far more suited to carrier based operations. The Marine Corps would either get the VTOL F-32, or that McD (IIRC) JSF concept with the canards. The tech could then have been further farmed out for a proper F-14 follow on, not that Super Hornet is a bad plane, but it's no Tomcat. The Air Force could have even pushed the tech into an F-15/F-22 successor and even an A-10 successor (though we all know the Army wants that role).

The new Legioss is looking sick as is the VR-038L. I am curious about the sign in back, does this mean a Mospeada sequel is in the works?

Looking for the original series, subtiled
Knight26 replied to aarelovich's topic in Movies and TV Series
I still have my AnimeIGo DVDs, wish they had a bluray edition though. The biggest issue with the Amazon Prime version of Macross is that it is not the HD transfer. Robotech is though, freaking HG. -
You forget about the boundlessness of human ignorance. I still run into RT fans, not former fans, who have no idea that RT is made from three other original IPs. When you educate them they get really interested, but that's about it.

So we have an issue where BW still feels slighted by how Tatsunoko handled the Macross/Robotech license and they won't even come to the table to strike a deal to get it all back in house. Come on people. Makes sense for Tatsunoko. IF that is the case, what is the likelihood/possibility that they snuck some form of trapdoor outclause into the contract?

So this brings up the question, where did they get the money to pay Tatsunoko? You can't tell me that BW/Bandai couldn't come up with a better offer.

OK that is just spooky. But still, he was one of the few actors I could even close to respecting. He will be missed.

Agreed, especially given that Valkyries, or Variable Fighters are not supposed to be based on magic tech, but be fairly realistic. Things like engines, reactors, cockpits, etc... have be kept intact. As opposed to something like Transformers where none of that matters or is taken into consideration.

For all we know it could Sony of Japan ordering Sony Corp of America to clear things up, maybe even order them to outright acquire HG. I'm sure BW and Bandai would much rather work with the Sony's then HG.

I predict, they will all end up merging at some point into "the only timeline that will survive" where everyone lives, the SDF-1 is fine and the Earth becomes an even bigger power then in the Macross sequels. But, Rick will marry Minmei, Lisa will marry Karl (if he lives), Roy and Claudia will get their happier ever after, Max will marry his wingman girl instead (assuming they don't find a way to turn Myria), etc... add nausea!!! (and yes I meant to write it that way)

I like this idea, let's come up with some names that would still be recognizable as Macross, yet thumb their nose at HG. I'll get started. Nothing too insulting, just enough to poke the bear. SDF-MacroTech SDF-Robocross SDF-Goldcross SDF-Macrogold SDF-MacroHarmony Sorry not feeling the most creative today, but it got me laughing. Or heck just go back to the original working title: SDF-Megalord/Megaroad

Just how big is Tatsunoko? What is to prevent say, Bandai, from just buying them outright? I realize Big West and Studio Nue are not big enough. Also, what could HG really do if Bandai Visual, just said "to hell with it" and started releasing Macross sequels outside of Japan? It sounds like the language in the contract regarding the sequels is vague to say the least.
