Ok, worked on the forward energy cannon today at work, I need to bring the rest of the weapons with me tomorrow to work on. I went in and detailed it, still need to texture it, just call this one factory fresh and super clean, lol. I will mount it tonight after I do some work on the main model first, mostly just cleaning out the unused textures, which can sometimes be tricky with ACAD if any inserted parts have not been exploded yet. Oh and the gun is a partially deployed position here.

OK, since I can't work on the design at work because my machine is not powerful enough I have worked on side projects, that are still related, like the landing gear and weapons. THis one however are the warning signs, not just for this fighter but for all fighters and ships. Let me know what you think they are as follows: Top Row: Self-Starting Machinery, Open Machinery, Flammable, Explosive 2nd Row: Bio-Haz, Corrosive, High VOltage, Radiation, Normal air Pressure, High air pressure 3rd Row: Laser, P-Laser, Electro-Mag, Sensor, Hard Vacuum/Open to Space, Low Pressure 4th Row: 1 Grav, 2 Grav, 3 Grav, Null Grav, Reverse Grav, Variable Grav Please excuse the poor pic quality, best translation I could make from ACAD to Jpeg at work. I used current international/universal warning signs as a reference and went from there. As always C&C are welcome, are there any I missed BTW?

Best scene in the show, sent my Dad giggling, which is rare for a cartoon to do, except maybe Lupin, When they fix the power core with Duct Tape. LOL, if you can't duct it chuck it.

Despite the lower budget I am looking more forward to the Pendragon release now that I know about it. If it really is a faithful adaptatation I am so behind it. THis kind of reminds me of when the two TOmbstone movies came out around the same time. I would laugh my arse off if Pendragon's does better at a lower production cost, and then they release on DVD just as the Spielberg (updated) version comes out in theatres, just like TOmbstone did to Costner's Wyatt Earp movie. Man Tombstone was far superior to the Costner movie, I mean for one thing the actors looked like the people they were portraying, Kurt Russel was a dead ringer for Wyatt Earp.

And a rear view, sorry the lower tail is blocking the landing gear view, I still need to add the interior of the landing gear wells.
-
Ok I fixed the landing gear.

yeah it stinks that there is no Tomcat, but the Patriots, A-10 demo, and Super Hornet Demo should make it pretty fun, too bad Vandy-1 is gone though.

skids down, the reason the mains are so far back is becuase, well that was the only place I could fit them, the area right before them are the missile packs, which are removable, so taht is no place to put the landing gear.
-
Ok, landing gear are in, with some slight modifications. And yes before anyone asks I do realize that the nose gear skid is too long, I will cut it in half and turn the other half into a door. I still need to add a couple small details, but overall the landing gear are in and done, let me know waht you think.

Man LGs are a pain to design. I had an idea becuase looking at the first concept I realized that in a particularly rough landing they could collapse pretty easily if there is a pressure loss in the system. So I put together the following. Upside it should keepe mains pretty well locked in place, downside, it will take up more interior volume, something I want to try and avoid. The pics from left to right show, fully deployed and locked, deployed, not locked, and retracted. And haterist, the color scheme is temporary and the fighter can be repainted in a number of schemes, and hey even microfig scale is fine, though I admite 1:18 scale would be cool, shakes that off. Just be sure and give credit where it is due, I would lvoe to see what you can come up with, and like I said if it come out well I would be willing to buy a copy.
-
Haterist if you can make a good rendition of it out of lego, then I will pay you for one, I would love a good physical model of this design.
-
Preliminary nose gear concept, basically I just swapped around the parts and made a couple small modifications. Of course since I do not have the model on my work computer this is about all I can do until I get it home and install it, rescaling, adding details, etc... ANy comments?

Lube me up Arnold?

Before this gets closed, it should be in the "other" section if anywhere. Also, these books are not out of print, they recently started pushing them back out as compliation pieces. Besides that, transcribing a complete copyright book onto the web like that, I'm not sure that's even legal.
-
Ok, I cranked this out real fast as a potential landing gear concept for the fighter. I currently have a skid on it, but I may change that to a more claw like landing pad, or on the outside wheels, but that is up for debate. THe skidn will be the easiest as then I do not have to model the doors. ANy thoughts?

The show is hilarious when I went to visit my family in July they had in a block party on CN and I watched it with my dad and nephew. My Dad was actually almost in tears at one point he was laughing so hard. My Nephew didn't get that particular joke and I barely got it, there are so many pop culture references in it too, mostly 80's but some older, that even adults can enjoy it. So here were three generations in one family liking the show, and all for different reasons and getting different subtle little jokes throughout it. Of course since my Dad is going deaf he could have just heard something wrong that started him laughing, lol, but he still thought it was "neat" show.

Nice F-14 picture and incidently the pilot lost his wings for that little stunt.

Max Jenius: Sell Out Design, that I do not get, I have always been a fan of FSWs, and other then the slight resemblance to the Hammerhead and Pyro GX it really doesn't look like any other space fighter I can think of. Except for the large number of guns and huge engines, but I would hardly call that selling out. Just so you know I am just curious as to what you mean, and any suggestions you would make to correct the sell-outed-ness of the design. (I can't believe I actually typed sell-outed-ness, lol.) Kin: The only objects that currently hold a texture map other then color are the fins, the wing tip guns, the wing maunvering pods and the cockpit interior. Pretty much all of them but the cockpit textures will be replaced, which ones are you referring to? I will eventually, after all the modelling work is done creature texture maps for it, for individual parts, and they will be large.
-
Huh, never noticed the Hammerhead resemblence before, but you are right, man I loved SA:AB. Oh and just for the heck of it here is the registry view.

Update time: 1) Missile and torpedoes tubes in and walled. 2) Missile Exhaust Vents installed 3) Manuevering Jets are all in: Nose: 14 vertical up, 14 vertical down, 35 lateral (each side) Aft: 22 Vertical up, 22 vertical down, 49 lateral (each side) "Canards (per)": 7 vertical up, 7 vertical down, 8 lateral Wing tip pods: 14 dorsal, 21 ventral Next Up: Will start on the docking mounts tomorrow, and the undercarriage design. Then will do the atm control surfaces. I still think something needs to go on that aft dorsal surface above the engines though, any thoughts?

Interesting toy, never cared much for VOltron though, probably will not get it. I wonder how long until they do vehicle Voltron, heck all I would want from that would be the jet, that was cool.
