The link is working for me, and still showing available for pre-order.  Not sure what is going on, but I got an order confirmation from Okiniland.

Sorry, I see you meant the just the armor parts set not the full figure and armor set package.  My bad.

The head connects with a ball joint so they would be easy to swap.

Yeah that's what I figured.  Hopefully they're not on too tight.

I've never removed any of the heads on mine but assuming it can't be that hard if Bandai is supplying the head to do the swap.

Agreed.  I'll have to see if I'm lucky enough to get the full set for PO

The Yamato VF-1A Cavaliers is somewhat HTF....it only had one run and it was not a "must get" valk at the time of release.....it's appreciation in value came later once Yamato went out of business and "The Panic" set in.....it has never had a re-release from Arcadia and likely will never have one....with that said, it's value and desireability/collectibility has more or less peaked....

I have no links to recent auctions sales from YJA...Mandarake is not a great measure for the market price for the majority of Macross collectibles, but they do have one that they sold recently....

    https://order.mandarake.co.jp/order/detailPage/item?itemCode=1159971929&ref=list&keyword=マクロス VF-1A&lang=en

With that said, If you wanted to acquire one I am fairly confident that you would be paying about 300-400 USD for one plus international shipping (which currenty is pretty high).....I would say 470 USD shipped is pretty close to market price.....keep in mind that condition also affects the final value of anything...is it new, used, displayed, transformed?  Is it missing any parts or packaging materials....what is the condition of the box?  In the end, the price will also be determined by how much you are willing to pay for it and how much the seller is willing to accept to part with it....never hurst to ask for a better price or make a reasonable counteroffer....good luck!

Thanks @jvmacross I appreciate the info.  I'll use that advice :good:

Haha yeah I passed on Gigan before even when it was on clearance because I wasn't sure if I wanted to go down that path. Well, I went there and now it's double the price that I could have got it for back then but it now comes with more stuff and I'm actually happy about waiting and getting it now. Not so much about paying more but that went through the window a while ago when I started buying $200+ Valks like candy.

As for the comparison, I'm with you and @Chronocidal...I have both and like it that way!

We really are in a golden age of toy collecting.  So many great options.

I now cannot unsee the DX looking like it has a beak in this pic

Maybe because I have Gigan SHMA reissue on my mind?

Man I'm a Godzilla fan and I love the look of the SHMA line.  My wallet can only take so much pain though LOL.  Now I can't unsee the beak!  I like the sleeker look of the DX though.  Just personal preference.  I think they both have their good attributes.

Just ordered the 1J with the GBP armor from Luna Park Toys.  ¥38,500 + ¥5,000 shipping.  Payment up front :( (but at least my CDN dollar is doing well right now).

Don't know if it'll be cheaper at other places, but I'm sooo tired of the F5 button ;)

How much cheaper would you really be able to get it anyway?  Maybe $40-$50 less?  If it relieves you of the anxiety of having to F5 then maybe it's worth the little extra $$$

Notice I said "a few days AFTER Bandai's product release date", not the pre-order date. Pre-orders for most stuff are months away, I've been waiting on the 2nd or 3rd or whatever round of reissues we are on for TV Super Parts very patiently.  I put in an order last June when they came up again. They release tomorrow.

That makes more sense.  I see what you're saying now.  Still, considering the pandemic, I would have expected a long wait.

Most places I've dealt with, (mainly AE or CD Japan or Ami Ami) last 2 years or so since 99% of folks as well as myself here stopped using Nippan Yasson, ship within a few days of Bandai's product release date.  Of course the pandemic jacked with everything, so honestly it may vary, but I feel pretty good about pre-ordering for things that release now-through the end of this year. I think shipping will get back to normal hopefully sooner than later.

Wow I didn't realize it would ship that quickly (pandemic aside).  I'm used to pre-ordering and waiting months, sometimes over a year before getting an item.

I can wait for 4/28.  Should be good.  I just don't know how many I'll buy, probably 2 if I can.  I will feel very fortunate if I get 1.

Me as well.  I just want 1 so keeping my fingers crossed I can get it.

Yes, they ship to the US. Options are limited to more expensive options currently, since Japan Post has limited shipping options, so expect to pay $40-60 shipping. OTOH, you'll get it really quick with options like DHL.

Honestly $40-$60 isn't so bad compared to if I have to get it on the secondary market.  Scalpers will want their pound of flesh.  So is there a time frame from when you pre-order to when you actually get the item shipped to you?  I'm certainly no stranger to waiting for pre-orders so I'm just curious about how quickly Bandai gets their products out the door to customers as compared to other collectibles I've pre-ordered from other companies.

@Special Sauce - If you haven't yet  joined in for a MW Bandai DX pre-order MADNESS party, it's something everyone should experience...once.

pro-tip -- have alcohol handy. You'll need it!

Definitely!  Got plenty of alcohol in the bar so I'm stocked and ready LOL

Also, what's the shipping situation with places like anime export etc.?  Will they ship to the USA?  I'm assuming I have to choose a certain shipping option to ensure that I'm able to place the order.

The combo will likely be at additional sites, since it appears they are doing the armor-only as a Tamashii Web Exclusive (so the larger places may be less likely to have them). So for the combo set, you'll see a lot more places open up like HLJ. OTOH, the TWE stuff usually seems a bit easier to get up front for retail or near-retail, whereas the general release stuff can get hammered by scalpers pretty quickly.

The key thing for PO night for the combos: keep an eye out for sites here, be prepared to share any sites you find that have availability, and prepare to be frustrated when you think you've purchased but get to the payment screen and they are unavailable.

Will do @vladykins thanks!  I'm used to this kind of PO stuff from other things I've collected.  My F5 refresh key has been through many battles LOL.

  13. Question, are the sites you guys have been listing in this discussion thread good places to get the combo set on the 28th?  I missed out on the OG VF-1J so the set is perfect for me.  I know it's probably going to be a pain in the butt to pre-order but I have to try.  I'm on the East Coast and I looked at the time zone and it goes up at 3:00am for me, which sucks but it is what it is I guess.  I'm just hoping for some sites to list it early so I'm not up in the middle of the night.

Since they've recognized the Takani box art on the GPB Box art as the inspiration for the large hands on this new DX release...

    ..wait for it...

They are going to do some Takani "special limited releases" in the future with the custom colors we saw at the Tamashi show!

It all makes sense now! :) haha

(If I THINK it, it WILL happen...positive thinking!)

I'm speechless.  Those are beautiful.  Awesome job!  These are all customs you did yourself?  What did you use for the base valkyrie?
