Has anyone seen or know what the VF-1S Mechanic Edt. EAN or product number is/will be?
-
Well, durability is often equated with heft, and quality as a result, so I hope they don't regret not going with that compound plastic. HMR carries a certain reputation of quality above Revoltech, Toynami, etc., so I hope they haven't tarnished that. Part of me has wondered from the reviews whether they now consider the accessories to be an adequate tradeoff compared to more invested in the figure itself, though. I'll find out today if the 0S seems similar (and if my box survived). At the price I paid I doubt I'll have as much reason to complain as others on that one. Saying that, I'm going to wonder if Bandai Namco considers the line a success or not if the 0S price stays or drops even more. With the 0D, I anticipate picking it up (no, I didn't succumb to that eKnight price yet), but if it's comparable in quality, I'll also wonder if the current price might still drop as well. Obviously, I want the line to continue (although I'd care less if DX increased production and were more easily found in the USA), but I'm also of the opinion that at a lower price point Bandai might actually erase Toynami from the market what with their price point gap narrowing already. I guess it depends on how much Bandai is clearing per piece sold, at least in the US market.

That bit reminds me of reviews of KitzConcept valks, and it scares me a little.

Again, despite what quality issues there my be, the poor shipping method is more likely the main reason for the labeling of the Amazon listing as "frequently returned". Oh, it's also back in stock at the same price again sold by by Amazon. "Moderate box damage" is still about a buck less.
-
Congrats! I envy your collection.
-
Only see it now, but Amazon sold out, and a 3rd party seller is hawking them new for $137+. Funnily, Amazon Warehouse is the sole other seller with "Moderate box damage" at $101+ now. I want to laugh, but I haven't gotten mine yet, and fear the bag... 😮
-
That's it. You figured out why there's so many returns, and it's embarrassing for Amazon as it's THEIR fault and not Bandai. I'm also embarrassed for not sussing that out initially myself, as I have repeatedly been the victim of this from Amazon on other figures, and even Walmart recently. Really, to not instruct warehouse pickers to BOX stuff from the collectibles section of the building instead of bagging them is INSANE, but a longtime issue. Having said that, Amazon will end up selling the returns as Amazon Warehouse under the "other sellers" section, so for those who are not box collectors (I am enough to want a new one), keep an eye out there. With promos, you might do even better than I did on price.

Kitz Concept Toy Thread 2.0

That's $187.90 (for me) via slow boat, and the packs are standard across both; not color-matched. Current promo on the metallic Max/Mirya set has no fast packs, and they are (stupidly, imo) forcing in a free Max or Mirya figure. I know the electroplating means a higher cost, but I'd skip the figure for savings, and you can't right now. Having said that, the figure is like $60+, so not a bad deal, but I haven't crossed into the realm of Macross/Robotech figures yet; just the mecha.- 2511 replies

The metallic set is still $200+ even via slow boat. If somehow those prices dropped $30 or more, I might successfully be tempted.- 2511 replies

Your most recent Macross or toy purchase! General thread.

Indeed. Aside from some charitable donations, and taking care of family, my eventual Powerball win will be used towards Valks. 😁 BTW, it sounds like you were browsing Yahoo Japan auctions. Low-viz come from there? -
I look forward to @jenius's review, and hope he does a comparison to the 0S in build, but for anyone else who now have each already, does it feel much weightier in hand compared to the 0S? I just wonder even more considering the continuing price drop on the (Roy) 0S on Amazon and some possible connection to the weight of it.

Ya know...I just saw I had an AmEx 30% off code off $100 (max $30) and $10 courtesy credit too, so seeing as it came to $68 and change including tax...yeah, I folded. What with @jenius's review I kinda felt that was at a worthy price despite being low on metal. Incidentally, it may not be there for all, but here's the link for those with AmEx cards (well, some cards, and it could be a different offer to some): https://www.amazon.com/amexoffer Sometimes there's Discover and Chase card offers too that might help. https://www.amazon.com/discoverpromo https://www.amazon.com/chaseoffer

Kitz Concept Toy Thread 2.0

Like Toynami, at a certain price point, these are hard to resist. If shipping were cheaper, I'd have folded on some of the recent promos. I liked the metallic finish variants of Max and Mirya and some of the other multibuys too. Just didn't place the orders. Helped thinking that it was the right choice because a nice DX VF-1 reissue was gonna come that I was saving for. Yeah, that didn't quite work out.- 2511 replies

If it were available to them, of course. Lotsa hurdles so far.
-
Someone in the PO thread said the details say both are included, which is a relief.
-
I'm in, although I wish it had both covers. Honestly, with how VF-1 DX releases/reissues are less frequent, and the near-instant, and usually insurmountable, late tax being imposed that doubles every year, Bandai MUST be cognizant that folks who wanted the original non-clear version will be buying this as their main Hikaru DX as they can never (at least easily) afford the original. Using the Bandai playbook, "Special Color Version" releases often are meant to simply satisfy the market who missed the first release anyhow, so this kinda fits that bill but for the slightly less-presentable (from a classic perspective) "mechanic" clear covers. In that sense, it almost seems cruel not to include standard covers as well at this point. I mean, as crazy as it may sound, I can actually imagine someone buying this and attempting to paint the the clear covers to match the original due to the cost differential alone. Yes, I do understand they feel a difference is needed to justify a reissue, but no one should be put in that position either. Anyhoo, 1st world problem rant over. ;)

They are not accurate. With respect, @Big s, you're wrong here. They are misshapen, and even compared to the line art you post. You can argue TZ had to deform them as much as they have to remain as large as possible while still being able to pass through during transformation, but that's a worse crime than keeping the head small but overall accurate to pass through. Want the big head? They should give it as an extra like a set of large hands. No one will mind that, and I'd love to see it, but not this.
-
I need to see one close before I'll buy one. Gonna be the same with Unix Square when they come.
-
Love the Miryia maroon, but the 1S head is a whole new topic of discussion now.
-
Well, duh. It was implied. 😄
-
Oh, that Vultan will fly off the shelves. Maybe they can make a talking stand for it if they don't do a talking figure next.
