Wow. I am very jealous now. Could you take more pics of how you have them displayed? I'm still looking for a sub-$65 blue Alpha, by the way. There are a few on eBay now starting at $49, so I'm still hopeful I can snag one soon.

Aliens M577 APC a little closer to reality
Axelay replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I guess the next closest thing would be the OICW. Which raises a curious point. If the M41A fires caseless rounds, then what (in the reality of the movie, that is, not in real reality - LOL) is being ejected when it fires? I think in this situation, caseless refers to non-jacketed ammo. I've just never been clear about this. Does it say anything about it in the USCM Technical Guide? -
Well then, by all means, where can I get one for $65? That's exactly the price range I was hoping for.

OK, slight problem here. Now that I know the Beta is eventually coming, I have definitely been bitten by the "gotta have an Alpha" bug. The problem is that I only want the blue one (Scott's), but I've read that they have the worst quality of them all thus far. I've never even seen one of these in person, so I'm very reluctant to drop the cash to buy one sight unseen. Does anyone know if there's been word as to whether or not these will be reissued? Anyone know? If I could find a blue one for a decent price, I'd go ahead and buy one now...

That Sunstreaker is beastly. I absolutely love it, even though it's nothing new. I guess I just fell in love with it way back before Dead End was announced, and I was extremely disappointed that it never made it out.

... from it in Starship Troopers? Specifically, the scene where the mobile infantry is first being dropped on Klendathu. It sounds exactly like the scene in the first episode of Zero when Shin first engages the MiG 29's. The Starship Troopers score was composed by Basil Poledouris (of Conan fame, BTW). That track on the The Macross Zero soundtrack I have is credited to Kuniaki Haishima. If that's the case, then which came first? Sorry if this is old, but I just now observed this while the TV was running in the background.

Well, I'm enjoying the show so far. I am still a bigger fan of the original, but this one is definitely keeping me entertained. I can't wait to see how the Pegasus plays into things. On another note, I did some research on the FN Five-seveN which is being used in the show, and that is a truly fascinating handgun. Twenty round magazines, light armor piercing capacity, extremely light weight, highly concealable, and supposedly accurate out to 100 feet with iron sights. It sounds like it's almost too good to be true. I'm trying to find out if they are legal in NC without having to have a Class III FFL, because I'd like to add one to my collection.

A few random thoughts after watching tonight: - Is it possible that Baltar is a Cylon...? ("They? You're talking to me as if I'm one of them.") - I can't help but wonder if the Imperious Leader or Lucifer will make an "updated appearance" at some point. - How is it that the handguns Apollo and Starbuck were using were taking out the Centurions so easily this time? I thought they had to use special APDS rounds on them? And exactly how many rounds do those things hold, anyway? - I really did not like how the new CAG was protrayed as so incompetent. I mean, c'mon. - How has it been shown that Boomer is actually pregnant?

It would seem that I have become a HUGE fan of the first Conan movie after finally seeing it reel-to-reel for the first time this year. For reasons I can't quite understand, I used to be absolutely loath to watch it. Now I watch it every single time I see it on HBO or Cinemax, which is quite a bit as of late. I have got to find the soundtrack. I have to admit, though, that I refuse to watch the second Conan movie because it just doesn't seem... right. Now, my question. I read on IMDB that the runes on Conan's father's sword say something like "Suffer no guilt, ye who wield this in the name of Crom." (Absolutely awesome.) I was wondering if the runes on Conan's sword mean anything, or if they are runes at all?

OK, so let me ask this. Are these figures more along the lines of non-articulated McFarlane sculptures, or more along the lines of super high quality 12" GI Joes?
-
Magnafiressoviet, these are GREAT. Have you considered doing them in 1024x768 so they could be used as wallpaper?

You know I heard that along with dissolving Takara, Tomy is going to literally dissolve all Transformers toys and merchandise in a giant Wonka-like vat of acid. Not only that, but trannies are going to be mailed special "golden tickets" to come to Japan with their TF toys and be dissolved as well. 319005[/snapback] Oh, so now you're telling me that they've joined forces with Harmony Gold?
-
DeathHammer, that was extremely well written. I agree with you 100%.

I can't help but wonder if Tigh's wife is a Cylon... And I was surprised that the Chief said that he had previously served on the Pegasus! Surely that comment was put in there for a reason. Wonder how that might play into things?

Say, does anyone know if there may be a joint Alpha/Beta offering in the future? I don't have an Alpha yet, but the Beta is exactly the motivation I need to want one. I'd prefer to get them together, so I'm hoping someone may have heard something about a package deal.

To quote the good Dr. Leonard McCoy, "That's not very damned funny."

Wasn't that one called Redwolf? And where was the M2? For some reason, I don't seem to recall that one...

WoW - Edwin, level 49 Paladin, Doomhammer realm. I used to be on FFXI before I got "converted" to WoW. I'm pretty sure I'll be on Phantasy Star Universe once it comes out, too.

I have several, all of them Hasbro. - ROTJ Luke Skywalker (from the very first production run, no less - these things have come a LONG way in terms of quality) - TPM Darth Maul - TPM Obi-Wan (which was very hard to find) - AOTC Count Dooku - AOTC Yoda In terms of playability, my favorite is TPM Obi-Wan. That one's built like a brick compared to the original ROTJ Luke. The light is much better, and the tubing is significantly more sturdy. Darth Maul's is just OK, but it needs to be a lot longer. It also suffers from a lack of sturdiness. Count Dooku's is pretty darned well-built and detailed, but Yoda's is an outright flop. The tube could be the right size if only the handle wasn't WAY too big, and it looks so completely out of proportion that it's not even funny. I'm still looking for the Sam's Club exclusive ROTS set which comes with both Anakin's and Obi-Wan's lightsabers plus figures of them both. It's only $30, too!

You have gotta be kidding me. For as huge a fas as I have been of both of the franchises, I was quite disappointed by AVP. However... I'm also optimistic enough to hope beyond hope that maybe this one MIGHT turn out a lot better...

what are the currrent "hot" figures anyway? Oooh, oooh, I'll field this one. As it currently stands, any of the figures numbered above 32 are in short supply. I suspect that will change after May 8th, though, which is when the "next wave" is supposed to hit stores. Here's the rundown. Links are to Rebelscum, arguably the best Star Wars collecting site on the 'net. Above #32: Clone Commander - I can safely say that this is my new favorite Star Wars figure of all time since he's armed to the teeth. I lucked out and got 3 of them, and kept 2 in the package. This is probably the most sought-after non-limited figure. Only drawback to this one is the lack of articulation at the waist. Clone Pilot - Got 3 of these as well. Nothing too special about them except for the fact that you need them to go with the ARC-170. AT-TE Gunner - This one is proving to be a pain to find. What makes this one so desirable is that it has a 2-piece removable helmet. Customizers want this one so that they can swap the head with the body of a super-articulated Clone Trooper. Unfortunately, this one is packed 1 per case, so good luck with it. (I got 2. LOL.) Red Royal Guard - I have yet to even see a single one of these. Blue ones are not that terribly rare, but the red ones are. Variants: Palpatine - What makes this figure so rare is that some of them come with a blue lightsaber, and some of them come with a red one. The red one is the "correct" one, so if you can find a blue one, snatch it up! Exclusives: Lava Reflection Darth Vader - This one didn't impress me at all. It's just a repainted mold of an old figure, BUT it's a Target exclusive. Limited to 50,000, I've already seen some of these go for over $40 on eBay. Celebration III Darth Vader - This one's nifty because it comes with an electronic base which has a soundclip player. The clips? Recorded by none other than James Earl Jones himself. Once again, limited to 50,000 and already going for up tp $60 on eBay. This one will probably turn out to be the ultimate cash cow of all of them. Holographic Yoda - a Toys 'R Us exclusive, this one was released at the midnight madness event when the toys first hit the shelves. Not too staggeringly rare, but still a good one to find. Target Exclusive Clone Trooper - Now this one I definitely want. They're not supposed to be on the shelves until May 8th, but many of them are showing up early. This is a super-articulated Clone Trooper with Commander Neyo's Legion decals, and it comes in a clamshell package. It's a whopping $12, but I definitely intend to get 2. Hope this helps a little!

I absolutely love the ROTS soundtrack. "Anakin vs. Obi-Wan" is clearly my favorite, as I've listened to it repeatedly since I got it.

Out here we have 1 Target, 1 TRU, and 2 Walmarts, if it ain't there you ain't gettin' it. I'll have to look the next time I go home to Dallas...........if not EBAY! Sounds familiar. I'm living in the capital of this whole freakin' STATE, and it takes a serious stroke of luck to get any of the really good toys. I just happened to walk into my nearby Wal-Mart one evening after 10:00, and the #33-#40 had apparently just been put on the pegs. From the limited number, I would guess that only one case was opened. By the time I went back the next day, there was NO trace of a single one of them ever having been there - every single #33-#40 which I left behind was absolutely gone. I felt so thrilled to have gotten the Clone Commanders, as I feel they are truly the best figures of the line so far. I can't wait to see the Stormtrooper Evolution set which premiered at C3, though. I just know the scalpers are gonna go nuts over it, so here's hoping my luck hasn't run out yet.

Yes, I have a few of those. I managed to be in the right place at the right time (which, in North Carolina is a small miracle), and scooped up 4 Clone Commanders, 3 Clone Pilots, and 2 AT-TE Gunners. I opened one of each, and still have the others in the package. I may just open the rest of my pilots if I break down and buy the ARC-170. It's my understanding that Commander Baccara isn't out yet, but I could be wrong. I know the next "wave" is supposed to hit on May 8th, but lots of people on the Rebelscum boards are finding the exclusive Target SA Clone Trooper early. I do definitely want 2 of those so I can open one. Also, blue guards are not too hard to find in my area, but I've never once seen a red one.

Kin, I am tremendously impressed. Your talent is truly amazing! I wish you continued success with the Legioss, and look forward to seeing it once it is completed.
