  1. Wow, they are doing paint retouches by hand. On the one hand, I am glad that they are catching things in QC and are trying to correct them. On the other hand, part of me wonders if doing this by machine would have been better, for the sake of accuracy and consistency. Then again, perhaps the variations typically found in hand-applied paint may be minor enough to not be of much notice, and might only be even noticed when trying to compare 2 SDF-1 toys side by side. But really, who out there buys multiple 1/3000 scale SDF-1 toys besides @jenius?
  2. According to CDJ, the release date is April 30. Admittedly, I suppose it is possible some places have gotten them early.
  3. The head is easily detachable and re-attachable... which is useful for doing transformations. The HMR VF-1A CF even comes with 2 different heads, TV and DYRL versions. So, changing heads should be easy.
  4. *sigh* Ever since @no3Ljmdeclared me Miss Macross, I have been listening and singing along to classic Macross songs. I am not even much a fan of the Minmei songs. Those lyrics..... "0-G Love"? "私の彼はパイロト"? *sigh*. Give me a May'n song any day of the week instead. And yet, here I am, reviewing some research simulation results (which look promising, btw) while singing along to Minmei. I blame you entirely!
  5. Is he really enabling though? If he is depleting the CF market, he is actually trying to disable you, right? right?
  6. There has got to be more girls out there who are Macross fans. One of my classmates when I was an undergrad loved Max... she even had a phone strap of him.
  7. Oh god... Do I have to be her?! I'd rather be Miria.... or Sheryl....or Claudia.... or even Misa. But her? NOOOO!!! Why cruel world, why?! =P
  8. I went from having no Macross toys to spending almost $5K on them in under 6 weeks... I think in part because I have been stressing out over 2 class research papers and am about to turn 26 in... umm... a little over 25 hours from now. *sigh* I think I have learned that while some people stress eat, I stress shop! *another sigh* If I am like this now, I would hate to imagine what I am like when I am in the midst of dissertation work, or when I hit 30.
  9. I know, right? Even the person who posted that up on Shapeways says in the description the price is ridiculous.
  10. Speaking of grey market toys... how about this Shapeways Destroid Monster? https://www.shapeways.com/product/VZC6JTMYZ/destroid-monster-1-60-scale?optionId=13955748&li=marketplace
  11. I so wish there was one of these for the HMR and Arcadia/Yamato v2 1/60 line of VF-1...
  12. I feel like I am slowly aspiring to have a collection like yours @sh9000. Part of me still can't believe that I ordered 2 sets of HMR Elintseekers, VF-1S Strike Roy, VF-1S Strike Hikaru, and Super Ostriches. I do have some buyer's remorse about spending several hundred dollars on duplicates.
  13. Arcadia's second post just says that delivery date to people may be impacted by Customs and weather. Oh, and that they will contact individuals when shipments go out, or if any changes occur.
  14. I was wondering... does the head of the Yamato/Arcadia SDF-1 separate into 2 sections, the way the Matchbox SDF-1 does? Or was that a TV-only feature?
  15. OMG. I am looking through @sh9000's collection pictures now. Dear lord, how does someone own so many Macross toys. It's... it's beautiful. So... is he married? Does he need a wife who is more than willing to take half his collection in the divorce? *hee hee*
  16. 16 CF's?! 16?!
  17. Yeah, the used Yamato v2 VF-1J I bought on eBay was cheaper because it had the broken shoulder. Fortunately, the process of replacing the shoulder with the Shapeways piece was pretty easy, and cheaper than buying a non-broken one.
  18. They do also have an auction site as well as traditional online and brick-and-mortar store fronts.
  19. Hey @ChaoticYeti, do you have a Yeti stand configuration for the Matchbox 1/3000 SDF-1? I kind of have a vision in my head of having the Matchbox SDF-1 flying in formation with its Arcadia/Yamato counterpart.
  20. I think Mandarake has an English langauge mode to their website. Ordering from them is pretty easy. Just create an account, setup your shipping address, add stuff to your shopping cart, check out, pick your shipping method, and wait for an email from Mandarake a day or 2 later that, in my case, has you authorize the PayPal transaction. I have now ordered from Mandarake a few times in the past month, and have had no problems whatsoever. Note: Mandarake's inventory is divided up between its various store locations. So... for example, if you want to order 1 item from their Nakano Broadway location, and another item from their Shibuya store, you have to buy these as separate orders that are shipped separately. You cannot consolidate shipping of items between different shop locations.
  21. I am not sure if you would call 17,000 yen before shipping a reasonable price or not... but Mandarake's price seemed cheaper than what I was finding on eBay.
  22. A few new arrivals came in the mail today... HMR VF-1J Armored Valkyrie (Hikaru), Matchbox 1/3000 SDF-1, and the Tamashii stand. (kind of wishing I got the clear stand instead, but oh well)
  23. Don't give up hope on getting a CF for 7000 yen. The HMR CF I got bought from Mandarake on 4/5/2018 was for 7000 yen, so it is quite possible another will pop up.
  24. REACTION weapons! AH!!! I see. 反応兵器... not 反射兵器 Got it! Though, admittedly, it is easy to see where the term "reflex" came from.
  25. I know. I'm sorry! I recently watched a snippet of the Robotech version, so that is what stuck in my head. Actually, come to think of it... what are those big missiles called?
