New Macross TV Series in 20xx (sometime this decade)
Sildani replied to Tochiro's topic in Movies and TV Series
Haven’t seen 7, but does Mylene have the subtlety, guile, foresight, and, well, evilness to be Lady M? -
Looks like it has clearance to angle upwards a bit, they just didn’t bother.
-
Why is Perlman done? Wasn’t he raring to go another round as Big Red a year or so ago?
-
Good guy Xigfrid.

Super Macross Mecha Fun Time Discussion Thread!
Sildani replied to Valkyrie Driver's topic in Movies and TV Series
I was reading Sketchley’s translation of the VF-19 Master File, and I came upon this in the FCS section. What the heck does it do: ANGIRAS: Anti Neumann-type Generalize Integrated Renormalization Aided System..? -
I used Gorilla Super Glue on my laser. No problems.
-
Looks very intuitive. Only thing I don’t like is the moving speedbrake. The transformation will get out of its own way and just let you enjoy the toy - as long as the factory doesn’t muck it up.
-
If the transformation was radically different, people would complain about it being too new and not lineart-accurate. How the bits move around is pretty much canon, it’s all the little things - like how the arms slide around on rails - that’s up to interpretation. I’m glad I PO’d one. Oh - integrated heatshield confirmed.
-
Thought the 25’s backpack was supposed to mimic angel’s wings, in keeping with the “Messiah” name.

Super Macross Mecha Fun Time Discussion Thread!

It’s on par with, if not slightly better than, the YF-29. So dang powerful, but not the Second Coming of the Messiah. -
That’s brilliant. Will try.
-
You can rely on that. There’s only a new twist joint on the legs that’s different, but it doesn’t affect transformation in any way. @jenius: a transformation video of the 19 from Battroid to Fighter would be nice. There’s a lot going on with the torso, like those Vulcan cannon that need to slide and move and such.
-
I don’t think the QA issues are a problem with the design, I think the hip problem is an assembly issue, the fin thing is a molding issue, and the head laser thing is a packaging issue. The actual Valkyrie is just fine!
-
Here’s how the torso should look completely extended. You can see how it’s at the very end of the rails it slides with.
-
Yep. Just a touch and press together.
-
Probably, I’d like to see an updated transforming biplane, because why not?! Kawamori’s never done one before! Think a Pitts Special or a Beech Staggerwing with burst thermonuclear turbine engines and SWAG armor.

In the name of Onnasake, He Who Faced the Calamity, I offer this (kinda) tutorial. Good news, the hips are only screwed together, no glue. The hip ball joint is like other Bandai DX Valkyries in that there’s a metal bit expanding out into a plastic ball. The leg itself is secured to the ball joint by a half-piece and two screws. Unscrew them and the leg comes off. Now you’ll see the metal hip joint, which also comes in two metal halves secured with two screws, a plastic cap on the bottom which helps clip the halves together, and another plastic bit on the upper part. No need to completely unscrew these as these provide the tension to make the hip joint stiff. I removed mine completely because I was curious and it was a bit of a faff to get it all together again. I recommend you almost completely unscrew them, move the leg gently to help break up the tension, then gradually re-tighten them until the hip is stiff enough for your liking. Then re-attach the leg.

What an ordeal. There’s a lot of parts that need to be massaged at once to get this thing into Battroid mode. But it’s done. There’s one feature nobody’s mentioned yet, a carryover from the 19 ADVANCE: the head’s armor visor can be removed to see the detail underneath @onnasake: my sympathies. I almost had that problem myself: the left leg, when trying to do its gymnastic feat of locking the hip bar in its higher position, then trying to swing the leg on its ball joint back down to the bottom, just would not MOVE. After some sweating and consulting the other leg - which was easy as pie - I determined it SHOULD move, dammit, and gently and with great force got it to where it should be. A thing: those folding rudders fall off my fins if I breathe on them. The hinges are just too small and the forces exerted on them are large. So, I pour one out for your 19, Onnasake. Whenever mine goes back to fighter mode, I’m pretty sure that’s where it’ll stay. Forever. Those hips not only don’t lie, they don’t joke around. This is undoubtedly the meanest looking Battroid in Macross. Nothing spindly, insectoid, or thin about it. It looks like it wants to bull rush you, take your lunch money, then beat the living crap out you simply because it can. No wonder Isamu bonded with it. And the crazy part is, in fighter mode all that bulk kinda goes away, and it’s sleek, wingy, and lovely mostly. So a hearty “well done!” to Bandai’s engineers, and a loud raspberry to the assemblers. They need metered torque screwdrivers.

Oh yes. They could have done so much more with her. Damn shame. #TeamMirage -
Just showing a couple things... Pauldron armor doesn’t wasn’t to snuggle into place... probably an alignment issue. Also, painted turbine detail!! Finally, the 19’s reaction missiles are a different size and shape than the 31 Super’s missiles.

Ok... what was the occasion for the dressed-up Valkyries?
