hmmm, even if the seller is legit, I think this kind of setup is not that safe for the buyer. As I remember, Ebay's policy with regards to received items is that you have 30 days to file a complaint if it's not as described, etc. So if the actual item will arrive 30 days past the date you received that flat envelope, then it's possible that ebay might not help in case there are issues. If you paid through PayPal then I think you can still claim through them, though not sure how the shipping/delivered status on ebay (which will show that the flat envelope was delivered past 30 days) will affect your claim.

Haven't really encountered an overcharge of shipping with MyKombini, but that's nice to hear that they refund if there's a difference. With N-Y, there's a few times where there's significant difference with the actual postage and what they charged, and when you inquire about it, they just spout excuses. I'm very much OK with shops asking more for shipping if it's indeed needed. For POs, I always just consider the shipping fee shown as estimates. Amiami and HLJ don't even show estimates when you PO so the effect is very much the same when it's time to ship the item (it's not as if no shipping estimates beforehand stops you from ordering)

PO'ed the MB Gernsback from them (among other things) and had no issues. I would say that they are sometimes a few days late (compared to release date of item) when processing and shipping a PO'ed item, but all items I've PO'ed from them were delivered without a hitch. So I posted that I might just get the MB Astraea when it releases (since it requires upfront payment, and I have some POs to pay this month), but since mykombini offered it with just a 50% upfront payment, PO'ed it, lol

hmmm, have a number of other POs that I need to pay for this month, so not PO'ing this Astraea (though it's really tempting, haha). Also, already have the Type-F so at least I have an Astraea in case it's greatly inflated on release date. Will just get this on release date assuming prices are not that crazy.

That's due to the September typhoon. Also have N-Y shipments during that period, that took almost a month to actually leave Japan. Their usual exit point point (OSAKA INT) was damaged and thus its operation slowed down (and some packages diverted to TOKYO INT).

Just got additional fee notification for N-Y. So the rate is for a 12 kg package (which is the expected weight/rate with the brown box).

My N-Y order is already in preparation status and no message for additional fees yet. Also tried adding the kit to my cart just to check if there are updates in the shipping calculator, and is still the same. Do note that the original shipping estimate was for a 5 kg item as per Japan Post (SAL).

Wonder how much extra shipping N-Y will ask for this kit (had an estimate shipping charge of Y7300 SAL to be shipped to Canada, so should cover up to 5kg). If gross weight (11.2kg) as per twitter will be followed, SAL rate would be at Y13950. Hoping that they could do away the original brown box since the kit is just 5.5kg.

Received mine from HLJ, and fortunately no issues with the head lasers. Also lucky that CBSA didn't taxed it (was expecting it to be) even though the full value (25k yen) was declared (used SAL parcel).

Damn, Gross weight with the brown/carton box is 11.2 kg. Carton box seems to be 5.7kg.

GSC really expanded theirs lines the past few years, so I think these delays are something to be expected considering that they try to have consistent high quality releases. But between the delay and Bandai's model of limited quantity items or exclusivity, I'll pick the former.

Also take into account the domestic shipping fees. Some postings will not specifically indicate the domestic shipping rate but will just leave the carrier / shipping method they'll use (so you need to familiarize yourself on how to check the rates from those carriers). Additionally, since you mentioned anime item, although not that prevalent like in eBay, there are also counterfeit or at least non-official items (e.g. painted GK copy of an official figure) being posted on YAJ. Usually if you see that the item is originating overseas (in most cases, coming from China), then high chance that it's counterfeit/non-official -
Unfortunately we're currently not their target market / clientele (at least for the Metal Build, DX Chogokin), otherwise they would have a launched PBandai a;ready with the same products being sold on Japan or the other PBandai shops. It will be beneficial for us if they'll expand, but as with any big Japanese conglomerate, they're usually conservative.

N-Y always have big mark ups for already released items, especially for premium ones such as metal build. Haven't really tracked MB SF pricie on N-Y but from what I can remember a year or two ago, it's already at 50k - 60k range at that time. Checking Mandrake MB SF that's really mint/unopened is currently at 60k, so not surprising that's N-Y's current price for the original MB SF (they are always more expensive for aftermarket items, they're only good for POs).

YAJ prices for MB SF Soul blue when PO was opened was around 40k,. Right now, I think it would be better to wait if Bandai will do a general release just like the previous Tamashii Nation event items, or just buy the original MB SF which is around the same price point or lower (if used).

seems like Bluefin have significant MB Eva stocks as most US based sites opened pre-orders for the figure (crunchyroll also opened a PO at $239)

It could be that it's showing time on your local time zone, not Japan time. Mine shows 01:00 which is correct if we follow 1600 Japanese time (I'm on Mountain time)
