  1. http://www.ponarseurasia.org/memo/russias-military-modernization-plans-2018-2027 Looks like the Su-57 is encountering difficulties around getting the proper engines.
  2. Sensor fusion is the hot new thing in the defence industry. Supposedly, that means the sensors and computers will cut away/automate a lot of the extra work needed on gathering and processing data, leaving the pilot more time to focus on planning and executing the mission.
  3. There is every reason to complain about game developers nickel and diming paying consumers, or hooking younger players into virtual gambling. Honestly waiting for a government to finally take notice about how extreme some of this stuff is, and start applying gambling laws to some of these videogames/skinner boxes.
  4. On episode 6 of Girls Last Tour, and this show is really something. Melancholic, yet comfy in a way. Incredible audio design as well.
  5. I gotta say I have a soft spot for some of these defence industry commercials, a lot of them are slick and well done. I particularly like the BGM in this one.

  7. They deal with Chise's backstory as an orphan in Japan, and they're great in their own right, so I'd recommend it.
  8. I follow a couple artists on twitter. https://twitter.com/shoboyuski/media (shoboyuski does a lot of cool reimaginings of Space Battleship Yamato designs, as well as original concepts) https://twitter.com/akimoto_kouzi/media (akimoto_kouzi most recently designed the Flute takedown rifle for Kino no Tabi 2017) https://twitter.com/peter6409 (peter6409 does a lot of aircraft concepts)
  9. I found a blog which is translating some interviews from Japanese sources on AC7. http://www.encycstra.net/blog
  10. Sadly it seems that so far they're only supporting VR for PS4 owners. I wonder if some smart cookie will find a workaround for PC users though (not that I would know, I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to computer stuff).
  11. VR looking pretty slick. I love the hangar walkaround feature already. Getting that up close to my favourite aircraft from the comfort of my couch is a dream come true.
  12. Watching the new Kino no Tabi and Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou this season. Also greatly enjoying Mahoujin Guruguru 2017 at the moment, a delightfully charming and cute series.
  13. A little more footage on the fancy airshow moves from a Famitsu stream. Looks like the ability to pull it off will depend on what speed you're going at, and most likely the conditions you'll be flying in.
  14. The second trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2 has released, and it looks like its a prequel.
  15. I just finished watching In This Corner Of The World by Sunao Katabuchi, and by god it was excellent. I can see why it was receiving so much praise. There's just such a fine eye for detail in that movie, and the melancholic soundtrack really gives it a nostalgic feeling (also helped by the gorgeous art style). Outside of Taisho Yakyuu Musume, there aren't a whole lot of anime that give such an excellent portrayal of pre-war Japan, so I'd definitely recommend this to anyone who's interested in that era. That said, it did drag a little bit in the middle.
  16. I heard about that, very sad.
  17. If it isn't in the base game, it'll definitely show up as DLC.
  18. https://www.dualshockers.com/ace-combat-7-trailer-screenshots-gameplay/ I was expecting it to be in the game, but lo and behold, Kono didn't let me down. The Mitsubishi F-2A in all its blue glory.
  19. The TGS trailer is up.
  20. Ace Combat 7 has a really cool post-stall maneuver gameplay mechanic.
  21. Its been a while since I watched M7 in its entirety, but I can't really remember much instances of Basara's defiance of authority costing lives. In fact, it seemed to me that the UN Spacy officers were far more arrogant and made things much worse by hamstringing Basara at every turn in order to push their own off-brand idols, who weren't even half as effective as Fire Bomber. At his worst, he just annoys the military types.
  22. Can't say I'm shocked, it seems a lot of brick and mortar chains are facing tough times as everyone gets used to online shopping. I myself like the convenience of online shopping, but there's something to be said for being able to have a hands on look with whatever you're buying.
  23. The per-unit cost is roughly equivalent to 4.5th gen contemporaries of the F-35, such as the Eurofighter Typhoon and Dassault Rafale. Something like $95mil, if I recall. For that, you get an extremely stealthy, datalinked super computer with wings, with a superior flight radius compared to the Super Hornet (if we're taking internal fuel tanks only). Plus, there's all the sales to foreign allies to take into consideration, such as the UK, Japan, Australia, and (maybe) Canada, which will also help in driving costs down. From all I've read and heard, pilots who've flown the F-35 seem to love the plane. Its apparently far easier to fly than the Harrier as well, another airframe that the F-35 is replacing.
