  1. Must have run you a bunch of money; all the SDF_1's I've seen on there are like upwards of 300 or so (more like 500 lately!), unless we're talking about the model kits.
  2. I got this for free at the flea market today: It doesn't have all the pieces (missing arms and arm transform joints as well as gunpod and one of the vertical stabilizers/ ailerons), but I figured i could eventually find another busted-up one somewhere (maybe someone has one here or on another forum) and make a whole one. The guy was trying to clear out stuff, and when I asked him the price, he just handed it to me and smiled, saying "it's free; I just want it gone!" Who am I to argue?
  3. Thanks, will do. I would very much like to fill in the missing gaps in my own knowledge base and stop embarrassing myself. lol Quite a bit of information...admirable indeed that several of y'all are taking on the challenge. If I were any good at translations (which I'm not!), I'd offer my help! Yeah, CSS is a royal pain; I was training in it before switching to fixing computers instead of writing stuff for them. I despised CSS3 and HTML5!
  4. It looks like he built up the forms with the pen, used a wood burner/hot knife to smooth the tiny gaps and make fine cuts, and sandpaper/file to completely flatten and smooth out parts. Plus, on the motorcycle project, he apparently had wax paper over some blueprints that he was using to size the parts. He's also using the 3D pen to add material where and when needed, and even making his own forms/molds to push melted filament into to make parts of a specific size/shape (like the tires/wheels).
  5. Ok; I thought Sketchley's was complete. Thanks for the update! I just want to be a bit better informed on Macross, as this was a bit embarrassing for me (not counting the time I glued my fingers together building an SDF-1 model kit, but that's a story for another time). 4 day workweek: lucky you!
  6. Okay... I just looked to see what Macross Chronicle was, and Sketchley has translations of the book series on his site. Thanks for the discussion on this Seito; rather than continue on in ignorance (on my part), I think It's probably best on my part to go read the entries and put some solid in-world facts into my head for a bit.
  7. Then it seems I severely underestimated the Zentraedi Main Fleets. And apparently, there are at least several (if not hundreds). So backing up here a bit: even if they had gotten lucky and taken out Boddole Zer's flagship with a grand cannon, that would have just signaled a retreat (as you previously mentioned), and ultimately would have screwed earth when they sent another fleet to take Earth out. Apparently, the Protoculture civilization was busy making Zentraedi fleets by the gross, and they are still out in the universe fighting wars. All of that would mean that Earth isn't going to be a galactic power anytime soon in the next 5000 years or so. :lol Okay...back to the drawing board...
  8. Good points; I thought from the way the cartoon showed it (may be misremembering it), it took some time for all of the fleet to come out of fold around the planet. I didn't realize it was mere minutes. The reason I was asking about all this is an idea I was considering on an "alternate history" of UN Spacy after Space War 1. The concept is that the main fleet had been defeated by Earth, and Earth began expanding as something of an empire. Powered by the technology they were able to glean from the Zentraedi, they began building more outposts and bases along with colonies and settlements. Overall, instead of colonizing out of a need to preserve humanity, they took instead to a somewhat more militaristic approach, and seeking to confront and destroy any other enemies out there before they could try another attack on Earth.
  9. I really appreciate you taking the time to address my questions. Seito. These are things that had rolled around in my mind for some time, and my grasp of the events in Macross tends to be a bit narrower on the items involved in the main events. Admittedly: if Earth had managed to take out Boddole Zer's (anyone ever notice it sounds almost like "Bulldozer"? As in, "what happened to Earth?"), that would make for an interesting "what if".
  10. From FoxNews: (more) https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/michael-lonsdale-dead-james-bond-villain
  11. You can always fade it back a bit with a kneaded eraser.
  12. Looking good so far!
  13. Smart of them; even NG Saga has more redeeming value than "The Blonde Twit Mech Driver" show.
  14. No, but I've done it with the smaller Arii 1/5000 model. I'd love the opportunity to attempt it with the Hasegawa version; I'm thinking the best one to try is modifying the storm attacker more, as the booms are already separated.
  15. Yeah; usually if that happens, I've read that adjusting the f-stop to move the point of focus will help.
  16. You did a magnificent job on this! Just the perfect balance of weathering and cleanness.
  17. Yeah...forgot about Andromeda. Maybe they should just make a series then where every other star trek series hates Discovery, and everyone from TOS to Enterprise is trying to kill the Discovery crew. Star-Trek: Whackamole.
  18. An idea for a new series then: the Federation has been destroyed, and they have to start all over. New ships, new structure, basically rebuild Starfleet from the bare bones up.
  19. I'm just going to agree with everything you've said here, as it sums up quite a bit of how I feel as well on this topic. It's not that we've grown to hate the franchises we love; rather, it's that we've grown to hate what those who have been entrusted with the reins to those franchise have done to them, and how they've been warped from what we loved about them.
  20. Interesting idea!
  21. Wow...looks like that hovertank transforms backwards or something. Talk about "blow it out yer @$$" rofl
  22. As far as the canopies go: I would consider gluing the canopies to the cockpit and filling the gaps with something like Future floor acrylic. Then, using very thin styrene, make frames for the canopies where they meet the cockpit and disguise the join. This would allow you to then paint over the styrene and have a clear decent-looking canopy. One time, I used masking tape in that endeavor on a model kit where the canopy was being a royal pain.
  23. Yeah... may have to expand it soon. I made a scaffolding for a repair crew, and the current set is getting a bit crowded.
