sigh, i couldnt wait to get this, but i just cancelled the pre-order. need the money more than the valk. hopefully they arent too hard to find.

From one artist to another i can say i do like your mecha deisgns. That being said, i would agree with eugimon about criticism. Art is a harsh business, and just becuase you have been doing it for years doesnt mean you arent gonna recieve comments that arent unflattering. As for economy of the line, not to attack you, but the Sulaco and the Star destroyer were really bad examples, seeing as how seeing that type of triangle instantly equates Star Destroyer in i'm sure many peoples heads. And while a 5 probably hasnt seen Aliens, that ships outline is high recognizeable if you have seen the movie a few times. I salute you on your talent and sucess, and happen to find the Swtichblade to be a good looking mecha. But everyone is entitled to their opinion, and displaying work for people to see, means they pretty mch will voice their opinion. I dont think anyone was attacking you, just making comments on preference. No one (from what i read) was denying your talent as an artist.

now that you mention it, the nose is kinda fugly on it. just waiting, and hoping yamato does a bang up job on the 11 (if they are doing one of course)

aside from the head laser looking a little large, that is a really nice rendition of the valk.

honestly....and I know this might be blasphemy, but I would buy the valk as a stand alone. I'm just hoping it gets out there. It is probably one of the few designs I'd actually buy multiple color variants on too.

that would be quite awesome. As I said, it probably is my fav valk and with how amazing Yamato did with the 19 I'm very hopeful the 11 gets the same treatment.

Mac+ was actually my first exposure to the the Macross universe, and I was interested in it initially due to the VF-11 design. I wound up being quite a fan of the series and branched off to mac0 and SDF Macross. Being that it was my first exposure to Macross in general my opinion may be a bit biased, as I had no frame of reference to other characters or story arcs from the original. And strangely enough I first became interested in Evangelion through the mecha design, it seems to happen alot.

Well we have a 21 thread, and a 19 thread, and while the 11 doesnt seem to have as many fans as the other two. I think it deserves its own spot on the boards for speculation. In terms of updates, I'd really just like some better leg posability and a more streamlined shoulder section. Oh yeah and if they could do away with the giant joints on the wings that'd be nice. Oh and bigger tail fins i 'spose. Like I said, it doesnt seem to have as many fans. However it was the valks design that got me interested in Macross in the first place, and now I am quite a fan. I'd like to see it get some love and be released prior to or at the same time as the 21. It is still my fav valk.

the more i see this thing the more i love it. I know people have made some comments on the head (specifically the face) but i think i love the way it looks even more than the mac+ art for it. I have mine pre-ordered, and while a smidge pricey (i ordered from joel over at BBTS) it'll all be worth it to have this on my shelf.

saw some images in the dec issue of hobby japan. looks good, but the images aren't really anything new, no gerwalk as of yet. i'll let bossman scan em though since his are bound to be of nicer quality.

ok, production of the r-type kits i ordered has started and now with all these resin wonders coming in a few months, i'm taking this opportunity to expand the quality of my resin work. i'm basicly looking for the best paint out there, like stuff that stays on so good your kit could get hit by a shotgun blast and the paint would stay lol. i prefer sprays cause my airbrush techniques are basicly nill, but hell nows a good time as any to learn that too, so if you have any suggestions for a good airbrush along with godly paints it would be much appreciated. thanks.

will do, and i'll make sure they are better pics than the other ones lol. i'm thinking about doing a shooting star (the one with big cannon on the underside) since its a fairly similar to the regular r-9. and since we have a while before the kits are produced and all, i can practice my scratch building techniques so when they come i wont be flying blind.

yeah i'd love to have a shooting star or a wise man next to the standard r-9 on my shelf. i've actually been thinking about trying a kit bash with one since i'll probably wind up with 4-5 unbuilt ones, so using one might not be to bad.

well i agree with that, i really loved final, and i would think with all the ships that more resin kits would be out there. i have heard rumors of other kits but never seen them.

ok guys, i kinda have a topic about this already, but its more of a side note in one of my posts and this particular area of macworld seems like a more appropriate place to make such a request. i love the game r-type (and its sequels) until this evening i had a nice happy healthy r-9 resin kit, until it decided to shelf dive. now the damage isn't major and i can fix it, however, this event coupled with my pre-existing desire for a few more copies of this kit have lead me here to see if anyone would help fill the 10 order minimum at hobbyfan. i'm probably gonna put myself down for 3 perhaps 4 of this kit, but that only covers 4-5 of the requests (theres one there already) so if anyone wants this kit or wants to help out or whatever heres the link to it, its relatively inexpensive, so any help would be appreciated, and sorry to seem so naggy about this kit, i just love it to death and want to make sure that if anything else happened to the one i have, i've got some to replace it, plus a squad of r-9s would be kinda cool. thanks again, and my apologies again for my obessive almost cult like following of a simple kit. http://www.hobbyfan.com/product_info.php?m...roducts_id=2371 EDIT: actually my other thread is probably sufficient, i apologize, so if the mods want they can lock this or whatever.

effing incredible man, i cant wait to see more progress and any other valks you decide to do, wish i had talent for something like that, my talents remain in teh digital and pencil and paper realm.

wow...just friggin wow, if a package EVER showed up at my place like that hoohoo i'd...well hell theres nothing i could do, but i'd sure be pissed lol. hopefully the holy contents of that box were not owned like the packaging.
