  1. haha cheers chris! you don't happen to want to sell the zeta 0017a or 0017b?
  2. Hi guys, I was thinking of getting one of those Gundam Fix Figuration 1/144 toys .. but i'd like to see it next to either a 1/48 or a 1/60 valk first (both if possible!). Does anyone have any pics? I'd really appreciate it! If you have pics of the 1/100 Gundam series (Arch Enemy, for instance), please post those up too! Thanks in advance! ps. I did a search, but I only found Gundam-Gundam comparisons. As I don't own any Gundams, that wasn't too helpful. (there was one of a 1/48 next to a 1/60 PG strike, but I can't afford PGs just yet.)
  3. only the 1J has TV-style hands. you might want to consider that.
  4. hi, i'm looking for a RED 1/48 hikaru-DYRL heatshield. one of the tabs has broken off mine. thanks in advance!
  5. I've just given up on putting the gun in the hand altogether. All my Alphas now have their guns affixed to their wings in Battloid mode, kinda like a slung-over-the-shoulder look. Looks pretty decent ... I mean, the Alpha's got missiles by the bucketloads, he can defend himself even without the GU-XX I'm sure. Damn, another "sad" post. Damn damn.
  6. well i guess i can forget about getting any henshin robos for now. if my calculations are correct, toynami should produce the cyclones before the betas because there's going to be a bigger market for the cyclones (it was central to Robotech: Invasion). plus, it would also be a change for them (from planes to bikes): and change always attracts an audience.
  7. henshin robo (small POS version) for USD$300 ++++ ???!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! am i missing something here??? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...5961478346&rd=1
  8. 'cept the Alphas. they make decent FASTpacks too.
  9. i will try a Hase soon. maybe the SV-51. does anyone have anything to say about the Bandai MGs? they require no glue or paint (at least, ostensibly), so that makes them more appealing ... but i hear they've got tons of parts and are just as difficult as regular kits (if not even more so). i was thinking of getting a patlabor ingram MG.
  10. eh wyaxyz? i don't understand. the question is not of whether i've looked, but whether the price is right. anyway, $55 shipped isn't even a good deal, at least to me (i don't want it *that* bad). let alone from a zero FB seller. haterist: c'mon man! you're going to pay $50 for longer smokestacks and no battle damage?? the battle damage is barely visible IMHO! you ought to save up that money to get a foundryDX jetfire
  11. Because of the price oscillations in the MPC Prime (Hasbro version), I've decided to go ahead and purchase the Escaflowne first. This will mark the first time I actually "sit back and wait for the price to drop", at least for a toy. It's quite fun to watch the prices trend on eBay, and on other online stores. I figure, if Amazon still has it, it can't be selling that well. So, prices *should* drop in time. We'll see if I live to eat my words.
  12. regarding playability: that's definitely a point against the escaflowne figure. but that would only mean fewer poses i could display the piece in - it would, however, still be eminently displayable, particularly in dragon mode. the price for MPC Prime has been vacillating on evilBay. when it first came out, the price was in the region of $60-$70; then for a while it dropped to $35-$45; now it's hovering between $50-$60. where do you guys see prices going next? up or down?
  13. hmm .. looks like it's still MPC Prime all the way! i'm probably going to get the hasbro. $50 for longer smokestacks and cardboard box ... mmm, no thanks, at least for me. haterist: how did you manage to fight off the urge to buy either? i feel like i *must* buy them ... i gotta find some way to rationalize NOT buying them.
  14. Yeah, everyone says, "Do a Hasegawa, do a Hasegawa!" Are they really that much better/well-molded? So far the Bandai and Imai ones appear to require lots of filing and puttying. How immune are Hasegawas to this? I was actually thinking of getting a Bandai MG (Patlabor Ingram 1) ... no glue, no paint. Are they as easy as they sound?
  15. wow ok, so we have 72934923743284238 votes in favor of prime. the problem i have with prime (I've handled one before) is that it's so big and blocky and lacking in detail. look at his legs for instance - they're so cartoon-like. i know this is being faifthful to the TV show and all, but compared to the binaltechs and other yamatos, it looks quite out of place. the yamato escaflowne, on the other hand, looks awfully detailed. the dragon mode looks bitchin' as well. at the end of the day, however, i think it's down to poseability... and MPC prime has that in spades.
  16. Self-explanatory topic. Self-centered too, but ah well. I'd appreciate comments particularly from those who own both toys, thanks!
  17. soze, a member here at MW, might have a couple of 1/48s left. he's a quick shipper and has done lots of repeat business here on MW. also, his prices tend to be lower. i'd recommend you drop him a PM.
  18. broadshore: i got it off drewsky, a member here at MW. he was selling this with a bunch of 3 other mospeada 1/12 variable kits (yellow and stick). but i don't think he's got any left anymore. alphaHX: heh, i was debating that actually - is this more of a model kit or is it more "other science fiction and anime"? finally i decided on the former. mods, sorry in advance if this is more work for you.
  19. thanks for the props guys. the truth is, if you saw this up close, your conclusions might have been very different indeed. the main problem is the iron finish (it's not real metal fugly!) - once my tamiya cement so much as touches it, the finish becomes tarnished. also, the parts fit together on this kit very poorly - i filed down the oversize parts, but for the undersize ones, i didn't bother to putty - so it's a very "hang loose" kinda bike. toonz, i'd love to transform the damn thing, but i'm just too bloody afraid. will muster up the courage sometime soon.
  20. If it's a question of "either", go 1/48. I got all the 1/60s and 1/72s before I got my first 1/48 - I've been regretting not getting on the 1/48 bandwagon earlier ever since. The YF-21 FP looks good in fighter mode (slim profile), but horrid in both other modes. The purple is, as Graham's mentioned above and on the MW review, rather painful to the eye as well. I wouldn't dismiss it altogether, but up against any 1/48, it stands no chance.
  21. lessons learnt: 1. don't attempt iron/chrome kits unless you're a master. 2. give up on the variable kits already boy! 3. sandpaper? what sandpaper? 4. wait for toynami to release toys. models can't be played with, fool. good grief. never again. i'm not good enough, i'm going to buy myself a couple of revell-monogram snap-tites to practice first. i know the bandai MGs require no glue and paint, would those be a good idea?
  22. man, machine and gun (very stably gripped by stick, i might add).
  23. stick, waiting for himself to dry (hence the odd pose).
  24. rear view. lunchbox detachable! i didn't bother with the sidepacks though.
