  1. Wow, nice display, 1 VF-1 2NV. Any more pics? Man, those mini-busts are rather small though.
  2. If you stay in the states, return the thing to Toynami. They have great customer service. Check out my thread here: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...topic=13231&hl= I got my replacements within a week. Just tell them that the thing was already half-broken when you received it. If you don't stay in the states, you might want to get a fellow MWer to help you contact Toynami on your behalf. I could do it, but they might get suspicious. Also, you'd have to send the Alpha over to the states, which you might be dinsinclined to do. Shipping might cost so much that you might as well get a new one. Rooks are cheap now - on eBay, you can get one easily for USD$49. I know I haven't exactly helped you with what you wanted (the nitty-gritty repair details); sorry.
  3. Sadly, this is the only way I know how pose my YF-19:
  4. It galls me greatly whenever I see pics of other people's *HUGE* but otherwise poorly posed collections. Some of these collections are squashed into tiny shelves, so I guess they have no choice - but I think investment in more space might be worthwhile. A toy is only as good as how it is posed. Here's one of my VF-1D (I really hate the heatshield).

    YF-19

Going back to the Blue VF-19a vs. the Beige YF-19 debate, I just got both today. I've noticed that the beige one kinda has a shiny reflective finish, which isn't exactly pleasing to the eye - nor touch. That said, the color scheme is more striking and unique compared to the game version. I'm going have to say, for display the YF-19 kicks ass, but for play, the VF-19a fits the bill better. Which is probably prudent, considering how much more the former costs than the latter. Wonder where I could get that kind of matte-like finishing for the VF-19a? My matte spray cans always turn out crappy goop.
  6. When the Alternators/Binaltech series came out, I was blown away. Like, seriously. I thought - "THAT'S IT, NO MORE MACROSS FOR ME!" 11 Alternators and 13 Valks later, I'm starting to rethink my original position. The Binalternators have amazing attention to detail and realism, not to mention poseability - for a ridiculously low price (compared to 1/48s). And yet ... I find myself strangely drawn to valks. For one, planes do it for me more than cars. For another, valks are so much more ... streamlined, especially when comparing Robot Modes (because there ain't no "battloid" in Transformers). Just received Meister today (along with the rest - I now have 1-11 of the Alternators, yay!), and he's just about changed my mind though. Man, that toy is *perfection*. Hopefully my YF-19 will get here in time to save me from any further blasphemy.
  7. Sorry if this has already been posted: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...ssPageName=WDVW That's a whole shitload of shitty cyclones.
  8. arghh ... we're not going into bad puns again are we?
  9. Xevoz naturally are stikfas wannabes - they're advertised as the next iteration of stikfas! Same company same everything. Developed in Singapore Yup, going at KB for dirt cheap. But as far as I know, the Runeslayer 2-pack won't ever be released in the states, so it's import prices all the way ... When I get home to Singapore this summer, I am *so* going to start loading up on Stikfas/Xevoz ... might even buy some for you folks overseas. No profits, of course.
  10. It's not crappy!!!!!!! I love it. Thanks for posting Nic. Will get down to work on mine soon did you paint all the screws too? BTW, if you REALLY do think it's crappy, I'd be happy to buy it off you.
  11. Here's what's wrong with the Toynami veritechs: 1. Ugly swing bars for the legs. So shiny they blind you. 2. Ugly shoulder hinges. Equally shiny. 3. A complete lack of detail. 4. Ugly rounded nose in fighter mode. 5. Lack of poseability (due to legs using swing bars). 6. Hardly any diecast (this might be a personal caveat though - I like 1/60 yammies better than the 1/48s). 7. Assorted QC issues (these vary from toy to toy). The Toynami Alphas, on the other hand, are pretty commendable. Just be careful handling them and you won't scratch *too* much paint off.
  12. Welcome to MacrossWorld! (from a fellow noob.) For the blue/white YF-19a, get in touch with Valk009 (Andy). I've just bought one off him myself. Regarding Toynamis: the Valkyries suck (really, don't bother), the Alphas are *pretty* decent. Sue Graham looks to be pretty kickass, actually. I'd get that if I were you. Another member here, Drewsky, has a (blue) Scott Bernard Masterpiece Alpha going for $60. You might want to check that out. Also, Toynami has GREAT customer service (well ... they do need it, given their QC issues). No chance of that with Yamato.
  13. argh! i should NOT have clicked that link!!! *sigh* ...

thanks seph .. anyway, out of spite, i am encouraging all of you to go and bid on the only YF-19 currently available on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...ssPageName=WDVW if it ends above 150 USD, i shall die happy. damn i feel like bidding on it myself.

    YF-19

Wolfx - where did you see the YF-19s? Rapid Culture? the blue ones for SGD$180, that's a very good price. Maximus - lol interesting solution. i paid up before i came on here to rant though. Graham - along tai yuen street? i'm going to be needing a list of toy shops in HK ... will be spending 2 weeks there hunting down toys. it's actually a honeymoon of sorts but my girlfriend isn't aware of the hidden agenda. *cackle*

    YF-19

arg. i knew it. my worst fears confirmed. i snapped the "buy it now" at USD$150 because ... 1. there's another auction now for the 1st ed., and it's already at $102 with 5 days to go. so i thought, hmm, the price seems about right. 2. the seller was a 100% FB ebayer. 3. the seller was based in NJ, which meant instant gratification for me (I'm based in NY). 4. shipping was cheap, at 8 bucks. well, relatively cheap, compared to what some people charge. 5. yamato doesn't appear to be releasing the YF-19 FP *ever*. (old news) 6. I AM A STUPID INSANE POS IF I'D WAITED FOR MY HONG KONG TRIP THIS SUMMER I PROBABLY COULD'VE GOTTEN IT FOR MUCH CHEAPER!!!!!!!!! 7. Repeat above, except replace "Hong Kong Trip" with "return to Singapore, my hometown". Interesting that for USD$150, I also got the following lot of TF alternators: - Ravage - Meister - Grimlock - Swindle - Windcharger Is a YF-19 ... worth all that?!?!? OK I've rambled enough, I'm going to kill myself now.
  17. wow! mad props on the diagram. interesting ... it would appear, from your diagram, that there is *nothing* to prevent the hand from slipping off on its own ... surely there must be some kind of "locking" mechanism to keep the hand on? or is it simply a snug fit?

    YF-19

unrelated ... but i thought i shouldn't start a new topic, seeing as there's one called "YF-19" right here (convenient). do you guys think USD$150 is too much to fork over for a YF-19 (Second Ed.), particularly in light of the possibility of the imminent release of this LS kit? damn damn damn. i should've been more patient.
  19. yeah, toynami recommended removing the entire hand, and not just the fingers bit (like you did). i tried doing what you did, but it didn't seem to want to pop off. did you have to exert lots of strength?
  20. I also did a search for "1/60 Minmay Guard", but nothing came up. I trawled through my searches for "minmay guard decals" and just "decals" but most of the stuff was 1/48 related. I guess I'll ultimately shoot Anasazi a PM, but I don't really want to disturb such a busy, busy man. So - does anyone know where I can get the 1/60 Minmay Guard decals? They don't seem to be in stock anywhere. Cheers!
  21. haha maybe yours was one of the first ... note to all: BE CAREFUL when removing the hands! don't pry the arm too far apart ... i pulled the arm clean into half by accident!!!! i've glued everything back now ... but structurally, the toy is weaker there now ... in short: it's not worth losing an arm to save a hand! also: might be a good idea to paint the bottom of the replacement hand before putting it on ... the replacement hands have orange-reddish bases (instead of the standard off-white).
  22. To all who've been following this thread: Toynami came through!!!! Here's the original email they sent back: Dear Sze Tan, We are sorry to hear that you received a defective Alpha MPC. Although every measure was taken to prevent this unseen event, occurrences are expected to happen. However we would be more than happy to replace this item. Please forward us your address so that we may send you two sets of replacement hands. (They must get these complaints a lot.) Go Toynami! Now go make us some variable Cyclones.
  23. anyone own/modelled the "Iron-Type" version of the Imai 1/12 Mospeada kits? would it be possible to perform a normal paint job over the "iron" finish? i.e. could i still obtain a "Stick/Ley-Type" cyclone with an "Iron-Type" kit? edit: without stripping the paint off first, that is.
  24. Hey guys, I'm looking for modelers around the NY area (actually, tri-state area is fine too) to commission. I'd really like to have a proper Imai 1/12 Cyclone (Mospeada or Blowsperior) done, and also Ivanov's SV-51 by Hasegawa. The reason for the geographical limitation is purely one of convenience, nothing more. If you're interested, drop me a PM anyway, regardless of where you're based. I did a search for modelers, and I came up with "Kurt", "Gundamhead" and John Moscato (don't think I'm worth his time though). I'm not too sure where they're all based though. Looking forward to hearing from you!
  25. bhop - i've just checked out your website, and, *wow*. do you only do commissions for friends, or friends of friends? i have a (variable) cyclone kit that i'd love to see put together by someone more qualified than myself.
