  1. crap. in frustration, i have ordered all the kaiyodo launch tube packaging evas. i hear those can hold their guns pretty well.
  2. How long would it take, on average, for one of these customs to be completed? I am leaving the country on June 1st (for ever and ever), so this question is of particular relevance. In any case, that's some really gorgeous work. Well done.
  3. Just got my Deunan figure today (movie version), and I have a problem. She can't seem to hold any of her guns properly! Is this a problem for anybody else?
  4. Not really, because too much is lost in just one thread. Why do you care anyways? Sometimes I wonder the motivations of people who try to close threads. While we are on the topic of dumbing down an entire series into just one thread we might as well apply the same logic to Macross. One thread for all valkyrie toys. That would be a bad idea. There are too many different brands of valkyries. Just as there are too many transformers series. It is a bit of a disservice to the transformers fans when a particular line is dumbed down into just one thread. Then you would probably say, this is not a transformers forum it is a macross forum. Then I would point to the fact that this is called an Other Anime or Science fiction forum. What seperates macrossworld from other forums is the people. I would say that the collectors and toy enthusiasts that make up Macrossworld have a broader knowledge than the people of other fansites. MWers place all things under careful scrutiny before making the commitment of a purchase. Because of the higher caliber of macrossworld I would say it is a disservice to all mwers when trying to dumb a topic down into just one thread. The trans fans who are mild Macross enthusiasts will get frustrated and leave. A piece of the good community that makes up macrossworld is then lost. Ideas and oppinions are lost through these actions. A quote from John Donne to place things in perspective. "No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. If a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friend's or of thine own were: any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind...." I do not intend to highjack this thread. The discussion was on the trailer. Thank you. You know, I very nearly posted something like this awhile back. Good for you, Marx. I see a comeback argument - "if you want to talk about Transformers specifically, why don't you go to TFW2005 or tfans?" To this, I have no answer. You're right, I/we probably should. But we just like MW so much better. Is that so wrong? Jesus. All these born-to-be-librarian types.
  5. Yeah. I guess I needed something to do while waiting for the next major Yamato/Toynami product (1/48 GBP, Shadow Alpha MPC, Cyclones/Betas ). Morphers and poseables are cheap, so they make healthy diversions. But on the downside, they have near zero value and aren't all that great to look at. I have also developed an unhealthy obsession with Arnold Schwarzenegger in my bored state. "I love the Hong Kong style of action movies, but that only looks good for small guys. The reason why the whole style was developed over there was because those guys were very puny guys - they're not powerful-looking guys, they're also not powerful guys. There's no weight lifting champion coming out of Hong Kong - maybe in the bantam division or the lightweight division or something like that, but normally you don't have really strong men coming out of there...they had to learn a technique that small people can do that are as effective as the big guy's strength. So that's where the martial arts came from." - Arnie
  6. taking a que from Hasbro in order to make redecos of the same toy, well yes. Well ... fact of the matter is, aren't all VF-1 valks repaints? Changing the head/canopy size hardly counts as a new "sculpt".
  7. The Toynami poseables WITHOUT the fast packs have their legs too far apart - the Toynami poseables WITH the fast packs have their legs too close together. I wonder what the solution is? I am of the belief that poseable figures are easier to do if the subject is mecha - joints tend to be easier to hide, since it is not entirely implausible that mecha have external joints. Sadly Toynami has disappointed me somewhat - the "super" poseables are actually somewhat less poseable than, say, a 5.99 KB Toys Spiderman figure or even some of the Binalts in robot mode. Very unfortunate. I asked the question initially because there was an ebay seller letting one Last Stand Roy go for $14. I've since bought it - I curse the day I decided to collect them all. If anyone has a VF-1D they're willing to let go, LMK. Otherwise it's TwinMoons for me
  8. http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/toys/1...omparison-1.jpg The one on the right. A quick answer will be appreciated!
  9. What's a "NEO body"? (Dragon stuff tends to have that description)
  10. OK, on a whim I went and bought the Deunan movie figure. $12.95 excl. shipping, good deal? Will see how much better it is than Leila.
  11. nice of this thread to pop up JUST after i bought both AlphaHX actually has more pics of the kit posted up under "Pic Test" in the Test Forum.
  12. Spidey has got to be the coolest action figure ever. Leila: "D who? Meier who?" EDIT: Ok before this thread turns to mush, does anyone know of any articulated AND YET nicely sculpted female figures out there? I've seen the volks figures, I don't like the fact that they have their butts sacrificed for greater upper-leg articulation. Leila here has diagonal butt-cuts so she more or less still has a butt. But the SOTA SF girls (and guys, i guess), GI Joes, and volks ... they kinda have non-existent asses.
  13. I actually prefer the exaggerated Leila proportions to those of the Deunan figure. The anime elongation really appeals to me. Ha, never Barbies, they aren't very poseable, and besides anything bigger than 8 inches doesn't really do it for me. OK that last bit of the sentence needs re-wording. *cough*
  14. It's 1/10, about 7 inches tall. It's a bad sculpt? Really? How do you figure? I don't know much about this area.
  15. love your alpha/legioss collection mate. that shadow shelf looks a tad empty, for now. great work on the screenshots. if i were you, i'd move the mac plus valks onto a higher display shelf. they're too pretty to be sitting there on the bottom.
  16. Leila and bike. Check out the texturing on the bike. PS. Has a MEIER LINK action figure ever *existed*?
  17. Hi all, I was browsing Midtown Comics the other day (NYC 40th and 7th) and I came across the "Leila and Bike" figure from Vampire Hunter D. It was going for 9 bucks, and was the last one, so I just bought it (I've since come to realize you can find it cheaper online - what the hell, I didn't have to pay shipping). It looked pretty shabby on the blister card packaging, and I was about to regret my purcahse when I opened the toy up. The bike was crap, but wow, Leila is a great figure! She isn't that well articulated, but you can get a decent stance out of her (see pic below). Not to mention she's almost McFarlane-detailed. I've since purchased the 3 Final Fantasy x-2 chicks (Yuna, Rikku and Paine), and I'm thirsting for more articulated female action figures. The Danger Girl ones look good, but I hear they are more like statues. Same goes for the T-X Terminatrix from T3. Anyone have recommendations for articulated girl characters? Rei? Asuka? I'd be delighted to hear from you guys.
  18. i knew i shouldn't have clicked on the link. *gurgle*
  19. Thanks for the pics wwwmwww. This kit has been discussed to death, hasn't it? I think Graham lost an auction for it a while back, and was rather torn up about it too. We're lucky to have these pics, then. For now (and perhaps forever) they'll have to do.
  20. Hey, I asked this same question a while back. Here's the link. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...13417&hl=cancer Hope you find the advice I got helpful!
  21. Lucky you! I haven't managed to get it to stand independently even once. I have to say, though, that the more I look at the Escaflowne dragon, the more I like it. The paintjob is simply superb - Yamato should have packaged the dragon wings with the BACK facing outwards, so people could have seen the excellent (airbrushed?) shadowing. I'm definitely going to keep the Escaflowne now. It's the only toy I can display on my table and not feel worried about knocking over! Not to mention that a transforming dragon has to be like the coolest concept ever. Oh a last question - Does anyone else have the problem of the dragon head (the diecast bit) falling off all the time? I'm using kneaded eraser to keep it up for the time being.
  22. Great pose with Energon Galvatron, ComicKaze. I'm actually more interested in that now than a mere Prime repaint. Saw Galvy in TRU several times, but passsed him on. Hasbro really has to learn how to pose its toys in more dynamic fashions on its boxes!
  23. OK, this thread should be dead by now, by I have one last question: Is there any way to stand the Escaflowne Dragon WITHOUT the display stand? Perhaps the person who wrote the English language instructions to the toy can answer? I have to say, Prime might kick ass in robot mode, the Escaflowne dragon is truly something to behold. It's much sturdier than the Guymelef mode to boot. We might well have a tie then.
  24. Am I the only one here who thinks that Galaxy Force Megatron looks like the Batmobile in car mode? (I apologize if this opinion has been expressed before. Its trivial nature has dissuaded me from employing the "search" function.) EDIT: OK, it's been noted before. By a couple of gabillion people. Sorry.
  25. yup, that one. the cover of love and war #2 is even better though, methinks.
