  1. So they're going to release a shiny metal version of the launch arm eh? Well I think the camo version looks like an easy custom someone made of a cannon fodder... which I guess is exactly what it is. Does the writing indicate that these will be Limited Versions? The stealth looks unfinished. What's up with those strike parts? Is this going to be the first valk that actually comes with strike parts?? Why do the strike cannon and missile tower look completely flat gray? No GBP shown. Does that mean the next GBP offering is just a reissue? WHY NO TV Max 1A?? They're going to put out these wierd one-offs and avoid official schemes? LAME. I would rather have had an Alaska Base green valk over the camo one Yeah, I'm buying them both, but they won't be getting much love in my display cases.
  2. <--- crossing fingers
  3. I'm confused. Are you telling us that someone should be able to provide pics or are you saying that they must have changed their minds?
  4. Toynami's creation is as much a product of Japanese in-fighting over the rights as it is Harmony Gold's. Didn't I hear that HG actually did try to make an arrangement with Yamato only to have Bandai throw a fit? I think it was something like that.....
  5. That was my initial response when I read what Graham said but then I remembered the first thing Graham said, "This is not a reissue."
  6. overboard?? Man, i think that's like 1 BILLION pictures. All very nice though. -
  7. GOO! (again) $99 should get you the chrome version of the toy...
  8. Are those ball joints in the hips???
  9. Wow UN Spacy, that Legioss model looks SHARP. I don't understand why the models came with that center missile rack and the ability to clip the gun on it though...
  10. Really? This I did not know. Do you have a picture of the MPC Alpha suitably close to a 1/48 Yamato Valkyrie for scale comparison? 371080[/snapback] Hold on, let me don my scale nazi hat, if you do the math the MPC and the Imaii kits are neither accurate 1/48s nor 1/55s. They lie squarely in between. This probably made Toynami feel a lot better about taking them and "changing" the scale to fit their previous line. You want proof? Alpha in battloid is 28.7' tall. Convert to inches: 344.4 divide by 48: 7.175" divide by 55: 6.26" Actual height of MPC: 6.7"
  11. The smallest Gakken Alpha and the Tread toy were both 1/72. If you own one of them, you know just how bad they were. Now imagine trying to do that toy even smaller. OUCH!
  12. You dare doubt me? I smite you! Edit - joke about comments you must make to your girlfriend about the size of other things has been removed Edit II - you're probably talking from the tip of the nose to the tail of the fighter. I'm sorry, I always meant to be talking about how tall the thing is.
  13. Flop is a bit intense. It wasn't the dramatic hit people were hoping for but enough people were bummed about its being ended early that they did produce the Love, Live, Alive send-off.
  14. Me too and it bums me out
  15. I would like it to have "Limited Version" scrolled on the front of the box also. I like LE toys Why do people want LV fast packs and GBPs? It doesn't make any real-world sense. Ah crap, I just said 'real world sense' on a forum about giant transforming jets. Nevermind, I guess they'd look cool but I'd rather see a color variation to match one of the TV valks.
  16. Robotech.com is certainly no well-spring of information anyway. As far as I know the Beta has gone underground temporarily. I heard nothing about it being at any subsequent toy fares.
  17. D'oh! Another one. You can't make MOSPEADA stuff in 1/100 scale... it'd be Teenie (your Alpha would be between 3 and 4" tall), the Invid Scout would be like 2". The MPC Alpha is about 6.5" tall and it's 1/55 scale. Now I don't mean to harp on this like some sort of scale nazi but I think it's important to note because it significantly diminishes the propsects of seeing cheapy MOSPEADA goodies. The cheapies would have to be made in a very similar scale to the MPCs.
  18. Couple issues. 1) A 1/100 Alpha would be less than 4" tall. 2) The rights for MOSPEADA were not a winner in Japan. The original toy line failed to gather very much attention so no company in Japan wanted to jump on the Legioss project. 3) You should be grateful that Toynami did make the Legioss/Alpha MPC. It has certainly helped rekindle interest in a toy design that was fading off into the sunset. 4) While I supported the Gakken about a year ago, it has since become apparent to me that the Gakken is inferior to the Toynami. I've made several rants on why so I won't bother you with them now.
  19. Good question? It's probably something picked up from an RT source when I was like 10. In Robotech wasn't the island already called Macross when the spaceship crashed on it? Eh, maybe I'm pullin' it all out of my arse... Makes sense then that the'd first part would be pronounced "macro" like the actual word "macro" then. If we're applying that logic though then it should be pronounced "Mac-rows" That's a totally different tangent though.
  20. I'm hoping that is a bad joke. Yes, the "tlead" is a little distracting but otherwise all of the dialogue is actually comprehensible in the Southern Cross and MOSPEADA boxsets that ADV released. Hong Kong dubs often have inconsistent naming conventions, absolutely incorrect verbage, words that were invented, and no attempt at all to keep puns present. I don't recall ever rewinding a scene to try to make sense out of it in the ADV sets but I have definitely done that with several HK subs. In other news, is Macross supposed to be a Japanese word? I thought it was supposed to be a French word (maybe that's an RTism though). How would a French person pronounce the name "Macross." That would be the *proper* way to say it (if it is indeed a French word, not a Japanese one). Either way, it's just a name right? If a Japanese person were to say my name should I take that to be the only way my name should ever be pronounced?
  21. Yeah, I love that box! No windows so the toy would never yellow and the artwork is pretty darned cool! I would love to see the blue and red versions also. There's probably an interesting story how these came about also. Why would a company take a MOSPEADA product and repackage it under an artificial show's name? Did Gakken keep making the Legioss after it lost the rights to MOSPEADA?
  22. seriously, I was expecting it all in one box like the Super VF-1Js they released. That would have been really cool.
  23. I hate carnies... they have little hands. I also hate uncooked onions. I hate when a toy breaks. I hate when my girlfriend acts strange and wants to talk about it instead of just having sex until the problem magically solves itself. I hate when people and politicians cater to the bandwagon.
  24. Okay guys, the packaging is completely unfamiliar, there is no mention of MOSPEADA anywhere on the packaging, the art shows pilots that are clearly not Stig, Rey, Belmont, or Houquet, so .... WTF IS THIS??? 1/35 Gakken Legioss-type-thing EDIT - it has some pilot's name on the box. Was there some other cartoon made that featured the Legioss? I'm totally intrigued.
  25. Isn't the MPC a 6" Transformable Legioss? Pretty close at least and that's at 1/55 scale. If they went down to a 1/100 scale I'm pretty sure it'd be less than 4" tall. In fact, I'll bet Toynami's "Morphers" are pretty much 1/100 scale Alphas. Anyone who wants 1/100 scale anything from MOSPEADA is not familiar with how small things in MOSPEADA actually were. I would be so much happier if Toynami released 1/55 scale Zentraedi mecha but if all we get is 1/100 mechs that'd be better than nothing. Still, I'd say the odds are very slim.
