I'm totally okay with a swapping shield on the 1/100 VF-1... after all, the old Takatoku didn't have a heat shield and it practically defined "perfect transformation" back in the day.

The MW Automotive Thread Quattro SpecV
jenius replied to areaseven's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
My fiance just purchased a Tiguan. It's allegedly extremely safe which I know isn't a huge priority for everyone car shopping but it was something I paid closer attention to when it was my future wife making the purchase. She got a 2010, the interior is nice, ride feels much tighter than the other tiny SUVs we test drove. The build quality has seemed pretty impressive so far... not a single thing is "not quite right" yet. Moon roof is huge, stereo is decent, it feels peppy and has a tight turning radius, and has plenty of room for the kids... should they pop up. You do lose a bit of trunk space compared to a Rav4. She also loves that there are so few Tiguans in our area so she feels a little unique. -
Yeah, I was actually thinking the same thing. Edit - at 1/100, that cockpit detail is superb. I'm impressed.

Too high up... or correct?

Fire up a video game with a sound test and lift away! (this comes from someone with no experience in such things... but it seems like an easy way of doing things).
-
Did someone say dual guns and fast packs? Oh, they'll exist... but you better expect them to be exclusives... probably with the fold drive or something.
-
Cool, that's what I thought but just wanted to be sure.

New macross saga based movie (Robotech Genesis)
jenius replied to kamikaze_kamujin's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
So what is Seto's source? Was it a UEG news post? I bet this is in the other thread... I'll go check there. -
So what's the process for getting the replacements? If I requested via PM do I now expect a PM request for payment?

The Macross Quarter. DX Chogokin
jenius replied to 505thAirborne's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I can totally understand, for whatever reason, just not quite loving the color for whatever reason... it was just how violently some people seemed to react to what is really only a few subtle color differences in a universe of very bright colors that struck me as a bit much. -
The Macross Quarter. DX Chogokin
jenius replied to 505thAirborne's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I still have a hard time following the criticism of the Mac Quarter's original colors. I have this image of people zooming around with Luca's Green RVF and Michael's Blue VF-25 and playing with their red Q-Rare then seeing the Quarter with some pale blue and going "WFT?? ZOMG NOZE!" -
I think what we've seen kinda tells you whether or not you're right UXI... if you were right these companies almost certainly would have worked out some sort of deal. Companies have accountants, they review their options. BW/SN thinks HG should go fly a kite... I'm pretty sure they came to that conclusion after weighing their options. I think you also have to consider that HG brings almost nothing to the table besides the use of a name that BW/SN feels is their's anyway. It's not like HG has a rich distribution network, huge name brand recognition or loyalty, or any of the things you would want if you were sharing proceeds with someone. At best they could use Toynami's distribution network and would anyone really pay money for that? I'll bet you that'd be one more fee you could include in shipping things here. In the end, BW/SN knows it's better for them to let HG hang themselves with terrible merchandise and failing products... heck, that might be one more reason they choose not to do it. While Macross has had tons of success the name Robotech hasn't been relevant since 1985... why breathe life into a company who has done nothing but dick you when you can sit back and watch them die. As for "how many more valks would you own" even if I were to say "SIX more" when you think of the hundreds I have bought that BW collected 100% of the proceeds on it tells you BW is playing it right.
-
I think you're wrong Uxi. While they certainly would see some improved sales stateside, the vast majority of people who would buy Macross toys, especially the bread and butter of every company: the people who buy multiple toys and repaints, are already buying and importing from Japan. BW is not sharing any of those profits with anyone so why start splitting them up? They could easily add English subtitles to BluRay Frontier releases and accomplish the same sort of feat whereby English speakers can import them and BW gets 100% of its licensing fee. At this point, Macross is too strong of a name for Robotech to support. If Macross were going to be released here it'd be far more sensible for HG to release it as MACROSS Frontier and not bother with the shoe-horning. Why try to bring Robotech back after 24 years of failure when you can clear the table and start all over again.

LOL, I love your signature... you dropped a toy and that's Bandai's fault. You have a broken V2 VF-1 and that's just part of the hobby.
-
Is this thing going to get released? I've been looking forward to it since Comic-con where they showed us like a half hour of the film. Looks pretty good although anyone looking for them to keep it real to the book will probably find too much artistic license taken with the character.
-
Phew... it won't be released until after my wedding... I heart Civilization in the biggest way. Sounds like it's going to be more like Dark Wizard on the Sega CD My one gripe about Civ is that war, especially in the latter years, drags the game to a halt. It seems like I blow through the first 5000 years of my country's existence and then I'll have a huge war in the late 1800s and spend the rest of my time playing plodding forward. Unfortunately, it sounds like the plans for war won't make it go by any quicker.

You know, I'm no lawyer, but I'm pretty sure if you've been advertising on HG's website for YEARS that you were making this show and HG did not act on it until now, you can argue pretty successfully that HG had to act sooner. Of course, since there was no money to be made from this project you can't really argue that HG's failure to act caused huge monetary loss but I'm sure there's an argument there to be had. HG is cute. They cling so hard to Robotech so the failure is their's alone. I'm guessing by Robotech's 30th anniversary HG will have a staff of one dedicated to the brand... one person to simply track where the occasional checks are coming from and calling obscure television networks and asking them to incorporate Robotech into 80s anime marathons. Robotech.com will simply be a redirect to robotechx.com... a site for the fans, paid for by someone else.

The Beta is in SC but it never transforms... it's just a booster and missile holder for the Alpha and gets a synchro cannon for the big end fight. There are other Alphas but they're almost all entirely non-descript with exception to Maia's... black with white trim, that sort of thing.
-
I'm sure George thinks: "I knew this Beta was going to be risky, I really wish I hadn't invested all the time and money into it" since it probably was a break even project at best. Of course he really should be thinking "I shouldn't have spent 5 years hemming and hawing over whether or not we'd make it and released this a long time ago when the economy was a lot better and every line of toys was selling." We should also point out that this bodes very poorly for the WB movie. The current license holders are abandoning the license for lack of sales... I'm sure that's going to look great to WB.
-
I wonder if Tommy is going to keep touting the upcoming "Synchro" Shadow Chronicles Beta. I imagine if the shadow is cancelled than the Synchro version is also. Too bad... I think that was the one I was looking forward to the most after the blue one. EDIT - Maiden Japan, let me know if you want to sell a prototype EDIT II - Happy 25th Anniversary Robotech Fans! The license is dead!

Hindsight being 20/20 I'm sure we could all come up with a pretty healthy littany of how Toynami failed and what they could have done to have been more successful. In the end it's all the Robotech fans who have lost. Toynami should have never gotten the Robotech license, Harmony Gold and Tatsunoko should have never pulled the douche card, and we should all be playing with our Robotech branded Yamato toys right now.

I've only done one video review so far, it's in my DX Macross Quarter Review and that was basically just a practice run to see if I understood how to use my little video recorder. I'm hoping to do more, especially when I get high dollar complex toys to review. I suspect my next video review will be the DX VF-27.

Review is up on anymoon.com... come see pretty pics! Sadly I'm pulling 60 hour weeks right now at work so no time for a video review and I only had time to put together one of the three comparison pics I had planned.

They also had some mock-ups of Shadow Chronicles Super Poseables.
