    Hi-Metal R

I hope the wings on the Hi-Metal Rs are not removable. It was a silly gimmick. Do people really hate visible hard points that much?

Bad guy toys usually sell terrible, that's why companies usually don't make them.

This is probably a hand painted, possibly resin prototype, don't draw too many conclusions.

NM I might have looked at a cached page.

I got one on HLJ... I never manage that with DX releases so I'm going to assume this is a little easier to snag. I very much doubt the next big Bandai announcement has anything to do with the Hi-Metal R line.
  6. The only impediment to an ab crunch is Yamato's way of integrating the canopy shield. Since it's attached to the chest it would create a lot of hurdles. If the shield were instead attached to the canopy then the chest could be angled in a way different from the fuselage. I don't mean to imply it'd be easy but with some more innovating it seems do-able. Also having the legs have a more accurate transformation would enable a better waist.
  7. Yes, I thought they were exactly the same shade of red throughout handling the toy. It was only later when I actually began editing the photos that I noticed the Yamato was ever so slightly warmer red. It's possible Arcadia was going for something more pronounced and it just fell short but I think it's more like when you go to a store and buy two cans of the same custom blend paint only to find one looks slightly different on the wall than the other. I think the brightness of the yellow helps the Yamato toy look brighter overall which might be adding to the effect.
  8. The red is different but I think that is unintended and you'd never notice it under normal light.

OMG yes on the storage! It should be an exclusive where you have to send in 20 destroid UPCs
  10. No, as much as it makes sense to do a New Gen movie, and how a JSF can easily be given a Legioss style transformation, it won't happen. We're going to get a mash up of the first two archs, heavier on the first arch leaning on the second arch's character names to avoid legal issues. You can't license "Robotech" and give people a New Gen movie (at least not initially) although I'm sure the mash-up we get (if we ever get anything) would only have very loose parallels to anything in the cartoon (like Transformers).
  11. As was foretold! The anymoon post has been updated to include the Arcadia VF-19Kai. Spoiler alert... there are no surprises. If anyone is looking for a Yamato VF-19Kai and Soundbooster let me know! In all honesty, the Arcadia toy was to tight it was absolutely miserable to handle at points so I'm really going to miss my Yamato one if I sell it off... it's tight without being infuriating and making transformation nigh impossible.

Don't forget the Matchbox toy, it's even a decent scale

R apparently stands for "removable nosecone". Nothing else is really striking me as different.

I think "horrible" might be over-stated. They definitely have some minor geometry problems and were FAT in the back when viewed from overhead... unfortunately I don't think I have a Yamato V2 overhead comparison: To be fair though, no toy comes close to that line art, even the Yamato V2 is quite a bit fat in the back in comparison (imagine the thickness of the arms otherwise!)
  15. Through the power of photoshop I own multiples of every toy. What? Not the same?

The VF100 line was awful... so so awful. If they made all of those like they did the VF-25 VF100 toys you wouldn't get them all unless you were a glutton for punishment.
  17. I think 'option parts' are standard on Arcadia releases and all Arcadia releases feature the later crotch mechanism and no rainbow tint on the canopy and, as of yet, no grumblings of breaking shoulders.
  18. In a just world they would either hook up their most consistent customers or the first people who preordered first. I wouldn't be high on either of those lists so I guess I can understand a bit more of a wait. EDIT - my shipping notice has arrived! Huzzah.
  19. Nothing from NY yet since the "preparation" email . Hope it gets out before Golden Week kicks off.
  20. Has anything ever been licensed as an FB 2012 variant? I kinda wonder if there isn't some crazy rights issue that makes a specific FB 2012 license impossible to come by. BW might have thought "Meh, it will never matter" and then Yamato asked for it and they were like "Sh*t, we honestly have no idea if we'll get sued by someone who participated in the releasing FB 2012 so... no dice." What quality downgrade are you talking about in regard to Yamato? I think BW is just demanding more for all licenses across the board as a new series is pending so Arcadia has to go with whatever's cheapest, (Macross Zero).
  21. I could use the extra time!

    Sunwards Valkyries

Not really, the lawsuit clarified that Tatsunoko did have the exclusive right to merchandise Macross products internationally (which they licensed to HG). If Sunwards wanted to sell internationally they would have needed a license from HG. I think this lawsuit marked the moment that BW then made it part of their licensing agreement that the licensee would lose license privileges if they ever tried to sell their product internationally (which is what prevented the Bandai/Toynami chunky reboot later).

I think it will be easy to get, look at the folks in this thread, lots of folks not interested in small toys.

Says the guy that will never own a Monster toy. I think if we all lived in Japanese apartments the scale would have more appeaL but I'm looking forward to it. I think it makes sense as the other obvious launch toys were already released under the HM line.
  25. Ah that's discouraging
