Regardless of being politically-correct or academically-sound or what-not, using the term oriental is just plain corny. As corny as referring to Europeans as occidentals. Using either terms is like wearing a hot pink polo-shirt on a hot humid summer day. And you're a dude.

I like the action scenes, i think the scenes are great. The only think i think this series mising is the music. You know, Macross is about action scenes, love triangules, mechas and music. The original series have great music, DYRL have great music too, M+ too, even M7 have music as a central part of the history. Maross Zero don't have any music at all. Thats my opinion!! Oh, Zero has music all right. It's just a different music than TV/DYRL and Plus. It's more cultured and more apt. And it's actually really good. This was after I actually didn't like the first Zero-OST at first listening.

Just got the package this morning and watched it. SPOILERS-ALERT! Compared to the last 3-episodes... There was minimum fighter and mecha duels. the mecha duel just involves Roy getting ambushed by DD and Roy taking out two of the anti-un "destroids". There's a great mecha-fanservice shot of Zero for desktop-pics usage. Character-development was also minimal here as it pretty much just involves character-introduction (hasford) and character-realizations (sara and shin, mostly). Nutuk looks pretty rad in his village-chief outfit. hehehe. The "child-porn" is nothing more than a flashback of bare-chested kid-Sara being trained. Lasts only a minute or so. There was that kewl 2k4-edition of Hikaru's rescue of Minmay re-enacted by Shin. Oh, yeah. Shin and Roy got their groove on with their ladies in this episode. There are still some stuff and I don't want to spoil it too much by mentioning them. Suffice to say that episode-5 will be better and there's a chance that we will/might prolly see the VF-1 in ep-5. From the R2, I'm not sure if I got the first-pressing as it only contains the 6-8(?) page mini Design-Works pamphlet containing character, mecha, and interview stuff. In japanese. Stuff that Egan or Nanashi or other statisticians/encyclopedists here might be reallly interested. If there are any other goodies from other first-press owners, let us know what you got. Oh yeah. The Macross Zero-Zero featurette was funny, too. No snaps or scans today as I'm heading out the door now for some appt.

japan-town doesn't have it? i forgot the name of the hobby-store there. they do charge quite a lot more for their inventory there, too. your best bet is to just order online from Valkyrie-Exchange or Twin Moons or BigBadToyStore.

yeah, just keep it simple and call us ASIAN period. No other special names will do, like nips, chinks, charlie, japs, chinito, fly lice, etc.... Hmm, I was informed by one of the Japanese people in town that his people most definetly did not want to be called asian (that was for people from Asia.) Has this changed? It was a number of years ago. Prolly still true. Most native Japanese don't want to be called anything other than Japanese. Same with the Chinese and everybody other Asians, too. They prefer to be referred to with their specific race. Just that some of us don't mind the term asian or asian-american when we're now living here in the States. Some born-here would rather be called americans, anyway. Afaik, none of them wanted to be called Oriental, either, since that pretty much is a known colonial-term.

It's not about being from the orient that's insulting. That term is already struck down from books since the 70's, iirc. It's just that "oriental" means rug to most asians/asian-americans people like me. I rather not have you whiteboys call our girls "oriental". We rather have you call our people (especially our girls) as asians/asian-american or chinese or japanese or vietnamese or thai, etc, etc, to be specific.

from experience, ADV will f*ck up the dub. Again. Like they did to EVA, Nadesico, Azumanga Daioh, etc, etc, etc. I'm more concern that ADV may/will do a script-rewrite, either by HG-request or by their own asshattedness. Macek do work for ADV (part-time or otherwise) and him being anywhere near Macross-titles does not sit well with me. At all.

I tell yah, dude. The Hikaru-1S, even with the regular hands, still look more awesome and fearsome than the Max-1J. It just really looks like it'll kick the Max-1J's ass 20x over.

Infusion did a great and quick subbing of vol-3 the last time, compared to AOne. And they're members here at MacrossWorld as well. too bad it's currently torrents-only for both infusion and aone Zero-fansubs.

Has Graham or anybody contacted BigWest or Yamato-toys regarding this yet-another-HG-(mis)adventure, yet? Maybe A7 here can post this macrossmovie-issue up at ANN site, too. We need escalation on this, imho.

seems like aod is down for me to try to confirm this find. At any rate and just to assume that the speculation is true, i'm not that hostile to HG finally bringing DYRL over here at R1. Wish it was Bandai or Geneon, but oh well. What I'm most concern about is ADV. They got Macek working there now. I don't know if they'll have him or another ADV-asshat do a frakking re-write again on it. Add to the fact that ADV's dub-actors this year are pathetic lamers who couldn't vocalize a hamster-voice inside a paperbag. damn. this is gonna be really interesting if DYRL is really coming stateside.
