Zero is gonna be as great as Plus. It's as serious and kickass like Plus already, anyway. The "flying totem"/rock is pretty much consistent with the shamanism-theme of Zero. Much like Sharon is consistent with the AI-theme of Plus. Both are done, presented and executed well.

My guess is that the VF-1 will be appearing in ep-5. Launched from the Prometheus. i.e. the Asuka gets sunk and the Prometheus appears launching squadrons of the VF-1. My wish is that the Skull-team (hikaru, max, kakizaki) will do the rescue of Roy and the others from the Prometheus. Complete with their respective colors and not just Low-Viz color. I'm still not convinced that Zero will be following TV-continuity. I think it'll be following DYRL-continuity (game and movie).

*sigh* We're talking DYRL here. It's a 2-hour movie. But if you must insist... You do know the Zentraedi had those "growth"-chambers as shown during Gloval's 9/11 ceasefire-broadcast, right? They shrunked down the lolicon-3 to human-sizes. And as explained by Misa's interpretation of the Protoculture, both Zentraedi and Meltrandi used to be together before separating and having a civil war. Ergo, if the Zentraedi had them special-chambers, it follows that the Meltrandi also have them as well. And Max beat out the best Meltran-ace, therefore it's only both honorable and tactically/strategically sound to keep and enlist/incorporate the one the beats your ace into your army.

for a mecha/robot series, DAI GUARD Of course, there's always F L C L and Mahoromatic. --- for an adventure-series, add in El Hazard: The Wanderers. It's a better version of the story than the OVA (1 & 2) and the Alternative World sequel. Plus, you get black-haired Ifurita.

I like the action scenes, i think the scenes are great. The only think i think this series mising is the music. You know, Macross is about action scenes, love triangules, mechas and music. The original series have great music, DYRL have great music too, M+ too, even M7 have music as a central part of the history. Maross Zero don't have any music at all. Thats my opinion!! Oh, Zero has music all right. It's just a different music than TV/DYRL and Plus. It's more cultured and more apt. And it's actually really good. This was after I actually didn't like the first Zero-OST at first listening.

Just got the package this morning and watched it. SPOILERS-ALERT! Compared to the last 3-episodes... There was minimum fighter and mecha duels. the mecha duel just involves Roy getting ambushed by DD and Roy taking out two of the anti-un "destroids". There's a great mecha-fanservice shot of Zero for desktop-pics usage. Character-development was also minimal here as it pretty much just involves character-introduction (hasford) and character-realizations (sara and shin, mostly). Nutuk looks pretty rad in his village-chief outfit. hehehe. The "child-porn" is nothing more than a flashback of bare-chested kid-Sara being trained. Lasts only a minute or so. There was that kewl 2k4-edition of Hikaru's rescue of Minmay re-enacted by Shin. Oh, yeah. Shin and Roy got their groove on with their ladies in this episode. There are still some stuff and I don't want to spoil it too much by mentioning them. Suffice to say that episode-5 will be better and there's a chance that we will/might prolly see the VF-1 in ep-5. From the R2, I'm not sure if I got the first-pressing as it only contains the 6-8(?) page mini Design-Works pamphlet containing character, mecha, and interview stuff. In japanese. Stuff that Egan or Nanashi or other statisticians/encyclopedists here might be reallly interested. If there are any other goodies from other first-press owners, let us know what you got. Oh yeah. The Macross Zero-Zero featurette was funny, too. No snaps or scans today as I'm heading out the door now for some appt.
