  1. Kicker, those shots are epic. i love they way those leds are reflecting behind him in the last shot.
  2. hey. the styrofoam idea is actually kinda brilliant!
  3. apparently that "gundamplanet.com" website mentioned above. HLJ won't put their pre-order out for another month if they do what they did with the Luca, so my money is on amiami.
  4. this might sound stupid, but i use fingernail files, like you'd get from a boutique or beauty shop. the soft ones, not the emery boards. they make insanely fine files, like in the thousands grit and i have used them on both plastic and painted surfaces with quite good success. i mean, if they are used to buff a woman's freshly polished nails, which is an enamel most of the time or fake acrylic nail, it seemed to me that they'd work. the finest ones don't even feel like they have a texture at all.
  5. krylon makes a clear coat that is a uv protectant. incidentally, i have had good luck with that fusion product of theirs that they claim bonds in a unique way. i used it to make my victory leo white again. the white was damn near the exact match for the parts of leo that hadn't turned.
  6. those are cool. are the 1/200 still available?
  7. According to the Macross Mech Manual site, it was never animated. During the final fight though, you can see all the other Meltrandi ships blowing the hell out of stuff and likewise being blown the hell up. Tne Meltrandi gunboat you see used to great effect mostly, and I suppose this is the next size up?
  8. So using Cabbit Commando's example of war movies and Macross, what if a hardened Supervision fleet intends to attack Earth or Eden. The army retreated looking for factory satellites/other remnants/cloning facilities whichever. They found enough resources to be a serious threat. Hell, you could even have Protodelvin in there but have lost there need for spirita somehow. Like they traded all their cheesy invulnerable super powers to sate there hunger. Hell I don't know. Just make them a little more serious and less furry/godlike. Like they took notes from Gary Oldman's performance of Dracula. You could have some larger types that they keep around to use like the trolls in Lord of the Rings, heavy tanks (but you can kill them) and I guess you can keep the females uniforms with the breast pasty things. Kind of sexy evil vampire elf chicks. I digress. Maybe they are simply looking for the Macross based on the last Supervision transponder signal before we tee-tiny Earthlings rebuilt(broke) the SDF-1(broke the transponder that is, reverse engineering is a bitch). I always got the feeling that the Macross was supposed to be special in someway besides crashing here, so maybe it is. The SMS/UNS intercepts signals/warning of a planned attack and the expeditionary/colony fleets send their Quarter/Macross class ships to protect "the motherland". They start getting the crap kicked out of them. The big baddie starts talking smack just as he is about to do whatever big baddies do. Glass Earth/Eden, break dance on the moon. you know. What ever they fancy. Right about that point Hikaru/Misa busts in. Pin-point super-long range de-folding having been perfected on the Megaroad. They bring a ton of new and retro designs of valkyries (to fuel Bandai and their funding for the movie) and destroids (hey, they need love too). Have Aegis Fokker/Komilia and Isamu's old asses having assembled periphery colonies valkyries so we can bring in ALL the old designs and tie in the dozen game characters out there with no love. I love it when a frachise ties up all their loose ends and connects everything. The OVA would fuel another decades worth of toys. We would get more singing (if thats your thing) and lots of explosions. So, it would be "Tora,Tora,Tora" and "Midway" in movie parallels. it might sound stupid. but i'd watch it.
  9. I wouldn't imagine Future being a good primer. I think of it like this, you would primer wood or porous surfaces to keep from having to continually dump loads of paint on it as it would wick it away, the primer would also afford some measure of a moisture barrier. With plastics, primer gives a model tooth, like was said previously, the desired coat of paint can adhere better to the primer because on the smallest level, the primer is rougher then the slick plastic would be. If you were using enamel on plastic or lacquer you could skip priming because the thinner in both melts the surface of the plastic just enough for the paint and plastic to bond. Any primer based paint will do that. Try spraying styrofoam with thinner based paint and you'll see what I mean. (don't do it on something important, it'll melt it). Now I paint most of my figure models in acrylics. Acrylic is mostly water based (like Future) with suspended pigments of plastic. They work like glue, it goes on, makes a surface tension and sticks. But you can scratch that off pretty easy. When you scratch it it comes off in sheets sometimes. It just sits on the surface. Future makes for one hellova top coat (if you want glossy) but as primer, either your thinner based paints will melt through it, making it pointless for priming or with acrylics, just another delicate surface treatment. Think about it like this, if you spilled acrylic paint on a floor covered in it, you could just wipe the paint up. If you spray painted the floor, you aren't wiping it up. Also, as was said above, it does sound like it's either too hot to paint where you are, or your too far from the model when spraying, the thinner is evaporating before getting to the model and all your left with is the pigment. A little closer with nice even sprays and you should be good to go.
  10. I have had good luck with sticky figures by painting them first with a product here in the states called Krylon Fusion. I generally prefer krylon to any primer because of it's huge temperature tolerance (many companies claim similar tolerances but I find most of them don't have the same predictable results). Anyway the Fusion stuff claims that it bonds on the molecular level. Now I don't know about any of that but I have used it on these same figures and the sticky stopped. I don't know what is available where your at that's comparable.
  11. Ok, I was rereading somethings. Glycerine is a good restorative for rubber but not protectant. So any old tires should recover some pliability and color. If you were to use it, it is VERY viscous AND attracts dust. If you use it use it sparingly and rub it in just like a lotion. A little goes a long way. But again, it is more for restoration then protection. Sorry about that.
  12. Gu-11, yes you should be able to get it in a pharmacy or even a craft/hobby store because of it being used to make soap.
  13. Somehow this things gerwalk mode looks pretty dang good. Wish we had another angle on it.
  14. Medical glycerin Is supposed to restore/protect rubber also. Never tried it but have read alot about it. Loving the Tron/Kaneda pics!
  15. So I am tore about this. I already have the last ve-1 with the rainbow canopy. Besides the option parts and the coolness factor of having two, is there any other reason to get this one as well? Any additional detail? Different paint?
  16. I have to say I am pretty excited about this fella. I got the regult and finally got it built( still needs paint) and he just dominates everything around him. This guy is going to even give my Jumbo Machider stuff a run for their money. The regult comes in just a little over 19 inches and it looks like, from the top of the cannon, he is 22-23 inches tall. Fantastic models!
  17. Amazing. Beats just about everything that Wizkids or whoever has the license to battletech this week has in terms of detail. Let us know if you decide to make them available on MW in the future.
  18. Thank you both for your responses. Yes Carl, the link helps a lot. Thanks again, Tobey
  19. Does anyone know what the difference was from version 1 to version 2? Version 2 seems to always be underscored with "transformable" but version 1 transforms too.
  20. Got mine in too. Confirmation number email in. Take that for being useful insomnia:-P
  21. so when does things like this go on preorder? I usually am the one that finds out about this stuff late and ends up paying twice as much for it 3 months later.
  22. I'm sure this has been asked before but I'm using a cell phone to check the site which doesn't do the job of a computer. I have a vf-11 that was missing his tail fin from the factory. Is there a way to contact yamato to ask for a replacement? I don't mind paying fr the part or shipping, I just want the bird to be whole. Thanks for any info.
